This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of January, 1927, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 5:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will give the conditions of this well at the present time, telling us how many more feet until they pass through the obstruction they are working on, and how many more charges of acid they should use, and how they may make the success of these operations. You will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.

2. EC: Yes, we have the well, the operations here. This we have had before. The acid is working as is set for same, and it will be found that the present charge or load will make more than six (6) feet in this present load, see? When this has been cleared and drilling resumed, until same shows the solid hard cutting again, two (2) more charges only will complete this, making then the full depth of the twenty-two (22) feet, since first encountering the obstruction, see? When this is cleansed, and well - WELL - swabbed, and the drilling resumed, the operations will soon bring the desired results - production. Then, only care, attention, and being careful of tools, that same do not show the action of acid in tools, so that they easily crystallize - the operations will soon, then, be brought to the successful termination. Patience, care, persistence - for these will bring results - even as has been given. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) With the care and attention given, and no further complications, about when may production be expected? (A) When they have carried out those two operations further, as well as the one present in hole of the operation, with acid and drilling, and the drilling of the further distance necessary - then will be production.

4. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

We enclose you, herewith, the copy of the reading as was gotten on the operations. This still looks mighty hopeful, and I trust that the reports you are having from the well are just as favorable as this. This would seem to indicate that, with at least two more of the doses of acid, they should get through. I certainly hope they don’t have any trouble with crystallization, but I’m sure Pat takes every precaution possible against such a condition arising.

The information you give me regarding Mr. [2265] is certainly very interesting. I am sure it is interesting to them, and it’s just another one of those instances that goes to prove that where suggestions are followed, why changes come about that are worth while. I certainly hope that everything goes along alright, and that it will prove a blessing and comfort to both of them [[2265] and [1186]].

Let us hear from you whenever you find the opportunity. We haven’t definitely decided on the Florida trip as yet. Possibly will in the next week or ten days. We will want to keep in touch with you, though, at all times. I don’t think we will be there - if we go - over two weeks at the outside - but of course we never can tell.

I believe we are all on the improve here physically. We are still keeping mighty busy and have a lot of requests on hand.

Reading on well received yesterday, thanks. Glad to hear the folks are well and the boy improving.

We built new bull wheels and band wheel last week. Should have started up yesterday. Have not heard from Martin today. Anxious see what acid did that was in hole during time they made repairs. Your readings sure encourage the boys at the well. Pat is now a firm believer in your readings. About the reading on Florida and trip there [254-34]. To me the information is in line with that I wrote you. That is if all parties are conscientiously sincere with honesty in their desire to produce wealth and recover treasures [[996] series, Lands:Florida:Bimini:Treasure] on basis of equity to all concerned then the efforts will succeed and you would be justified in going there and giving the readings. But if the parties concerned are selfish in mind expecting the lion’s share, then the project will fail. Have a young fellow who wants a life reading. Will get it to you next week.

R3. 1/23/27 (Sunday, P.M.) G. C. Martin’s ltr. to Mr. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:

This is one of those ice covered days full of gloom and as I wired yesterday rig covered with ice, and not safe for the boys to be climbing over the derrick pulling lines over, we failed to start drilling, and it is worse today, but has begun to melt this afternoon, may be better tomorrow.

Your letter of 21st bringing Cayce’s reading gave new courage as it always does.

Think we are of the same opinion about the acid, for it has proven that it’s the best thing we have found in the hole to clear the trouble or in some way get deeper into the hole. Even if you and I failed to read the reading of Dec. 29th alike.

I think the meaning is to put salt and ice into acid after it has been in the hole for a time and after yours of 15th I reread it, and still think it means after acid has stayed in hole, temperature is a natural result of action of acid, then add ice & salt see. You said Graner may be down last of month. Shall be glad indeed to see him, or any of those interested in this business.

We got behind in our bank account for it has taken more extras after getting wheels out. We bought new brake bands and new crown pulleys, extra lumber and nails all costs and counts up.

The bull wheel, on the brake side was in worse condition than we thought for so it’s a good thing we got new ones put in.

Think it will be best to get the acid and have it ready for use soon as we are ready.

Say in yours of 15th you said you wish you could put your feet under Mrs. N’s table. She had a good feed that nite and we wished to thot you might share it with us for there was plenty left over. So you must come when you can.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Yours of the 22nd to hand, and as we had an opportunity to get these readings [personal rdgs.] in at once, I felt I should do it, as we will possibly go away about the first of the week.

Our address will be Halcyon Hotel, Miami, Florida. I don’t think I will be there more than a couple of weeks. Should anything come up, I’d like to hear from you - or if it’s possible for us to be of help, don’t hesitate to let us know, for we won’t be too busy to attend to it.

We got the reading also for Mrs. [583] and are forwarding same to her.

Well, I am in hopes you have had good news from the well, and that things are progressing nicely. I suppose the time they have to wait on the action of the chemicals in the hole gives them an opportunity often to keep things straightened up - though it’s a matter of considerable expense to have to build new rigging of this character. I am also quite anxious to know the outcome of the last acid test, and I am in hopes that everything will work out alright.

Yes, I think you are exactly right concerning your ideas as to the Florida undertaking, and I think it can be well said, this applies just as well with every other undertaking as with this. There must be the absolute sincerity, would the good be gained. I know we don’t any of us understand the laws of the phenomena, but I certainly am in hopes that we will have an opportunity to study these as in reference to that character of same as manifested through me. I realize that this is only one phase, but apparently, to me, a great deal of knowledge, and a great deal better understanding of all such, may be the more perfectly understood, if we would study these along these lines.

R5. 2/1/27 Mr. LaBryn’s letter:

Morgan, Texas

TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS:

No, - we have not quit nor lost faith.

But have been hard at work every day since the last report went out. At that time we ordered 6100 feet of casing weighing 53 tons, which arrived at the well during July. This casing was run in the hole three times before it was successfully set. The first time it buckled or bent leaving the lower section or about twenty two feet in the hole adding more trouble to be overcome. The second time it was lowered for the purpose of running cement through it in order to encase the lost bailer and piece of casing. However, this was unsuccessful because of extreme heat, which dried the cement before reaching bottom of casing, plugging it up to the extent of one hundred and fifty feet, which forced us to again pull the entire string of casing. This was very discouraging as well as expensive.

Drilling again was attempted without use of casing, and after making about thirty feet of hole in the hard lime, the drill started binding which forced us to stop.

It was again decided to run the casing in the hope that we could set it in this hole. This operation was successful and we figured that our troubles were over, but when drilling operations were resumed again, we found we still had to overcome the obstruction which apparently was pushed down when the casing was lowered.

For the past four months since casing was set, our driller has been pounding away on the steel obstruction as well as using acid to help clear the way. We feel that we have almost accomplished the drilling up of the obstruction after which we should have but very little trouble drilling through the lime into production. The hole is now in the best of condition, so that production can be handled without any delay. The purchase of the casing, labor, fuel, repairs, etc., has cost us in the neighborhood of $35,000. since losing the bailer in December, 1925. The bulk of this amount has been supplied by a few men.

Remember, every effort is being made to complete this well by those in charge of operations. It requires Patience, Persistence and CASH to overcome conditions. We are fortunate in having the best driller in the country in charge, who knows every angle of the drilling game. He feels sure of big production under the Pennsylvania lime rock we are now drilling in; so try and help us out AT THIS TIME, by sending us your check for whatever amount you can spare, and help lift the burden from the few men who have been so liberal in making it possible to carry on operations.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Yours of recent date reached me here. We came down last Wednesday and will be here some two weeks or such a matter, depending, of course, upon circumstances and conditions that arise. We are in hopes that we can get some aid to our cause that will assist us in furthering the work we are trying to do. I like these people very much, and as I have told one of the gentlemen, Mr. Peters, he reminds me so much of you that I naturally feel drawn to him. My wife, Miss Gladys, and the little boy, are all with me.

I certainly hope you will be able to get your clary water in proper shape this time, and that it will prove as effective as we believe it should. Certainly hope you continue to improve and are able to rid your system entirely of that extra amount of sugar.

I appreciate your sending me the letter from Mr. Martin. I know they are having a hard time keeping themselves in check when they want to go ahead, but I trust that it all works out for the very best for everyone concerned.

Will try and let you hear from us from time to time, and hope you will drop us a line. I think Mr. Martin is right in saying the reading indicated the ice and salt should be run after the charge of acid had completed its work. This would tend to make that acted upon by the acid easier to be removed and much more susceptible to the next charge, by the change in temperature, as well as action of salt and water upon that acted upon by the acid.

All send kindest personal regards. We have gotten one or two readings here already that I think will be very interesting to you. [996-8 and 943-2 (?) and [3976] series.] Miss Gladys will send you a copy as soon as she is able to get to it. Naturally we are kept pretty busy. Tell Mr. [2265] I will get his reading just as soon as I can possibly do it. I haven’t forgotten it.

R8. 2/11/27 Mr. Wyrick’s letter:

Morgan, Texas

TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS:-

Mr. LaBryn wrote you recently regarding operations on our well in Texas. Now I am forced to make another request that you subscribe for increased interest that we may continue the operations to the finish. I know you do not want to lose the money you have invested if at all possible to make a winning of your investment by increasing your interest in the well, by investing a few more dollars. I feel I would be lax in my duty to you if I did not acquaint you with the situation that exists at present, thereby giving you a chance to protect your investment - subscribing enough to keep the drill going.

The fact is, we have no funds to keep the operations going. Since the commencing of this well September 1st, 1924, we have never stopped for lack of money. We have had many tight places but so far pulled through. Now, my finances and that of the few who have invested major portions of the expense are exhausted.

If we do not get help in a few days we must shut down. When we do I fear we will not start up soon, if ever, for we will have lost or driller, and I doubt if there is another who could pick up where we stop and finish the job. We need for the present only a few hundred dollars - 1500 to 2500 should finish the job. We are using acid to dissolve the obstruction, and according to depth tests we are almost through the obstruction.

Our experts, and those of other companies advise us to go ahead, that they have no doubt we will get oil in large quantities when through the Pennsylvania lime that we are drilling in.

I hope EACH ONE will come along and help finish while we are on the job. Five to twenty-five dollars or the amount you can spare, EACH ONE coming in will finish the job. Please let us pull together until the job is finished - we will never be satisfied if we quit before we have made a final test.

Just a little note to thank you for the report sent a few days ago. I certainly am in hopes we will have the opportunity to give some further information on this very soon. I think it looks mighty good, and I surely believe that it will not be very long before we will have a producing well.

We are quite busy, but everything is not just like I’d like it to be. I don’t know just yet how much longer I’ll be here. My opinion, though, at present is that it will only be a few days. But I’ll let you hear from me just as soon as we have an opportunity to get something on the well, and I’m hoping that will be in the very near future.
