This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of March, 1927, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will tell us the condition of operations at the present time, giving advice as to how these operations may be brought to a successful termination. You will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.

2. EC: Yes, we have the operations here. These we have had before. Many various conditions have come about, as we see, since last we had this here. Some conditions regarding the conditions about the well have not been satisfactory. Troubles individual, troubles collective, troubles that have to do with the operations direct; yet we find these are adjusting themselves and will adjust themselves in the proper way and manner, for these will be carried out to the successful termination of these operations - successful in bringing production oil in the operation.

3. The trouble with the tools, and this operation about same, is adjusting ITSELF, and with the next run there will be seen the better and better indications of the production, and soon this being in the way of bringing the oil and gas, will be sufficient to enable all to become enthused sufficient to furnish that necessary to complete the work here.

4. Then, follow these out - not as in any specific manner, other than those policies as have been and are set by one in charge here (Wyrick), and in following these there will come the successful termination in bringing production in this operation.

5. As to the time, the changes, and so forth, these depend upon the exercising of those operators and the manner these operations are conducted, see? Ready for questions.

6. (Q) Is there anything specific of which they should be warned? (A) None other than to keep on, if they would get the production here - for this will produce here.

R1. 3/24/27 EC’s letter to M. B. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I enclose you, herewith, the reading as was gotten on the well. I am sure, from the information given, you all feel that you will never stop having trouble with these operations

• but it would indicate also that you had the right idea, and by following same out that conditions will yet work out in a satisfactory way and manner. I certainly hope they did.

Well, I don’t believe I have written you since we returned from Florida. We met some of our old friends there - I think you remember Mr. Shroyer who used to live in Dayton, and whom you met there. He is living in Miami now. He seems to be getting along very nicely.

Just how much we accomplished in Miami it is hard to say. Nothing whatever for the present, but I think we made some connections that will prove very beneficial to us all along [J. W. Peters, Sr.? A. C. Preston?] - men that really have the right sort of an idea about what we are trying to do. I sent you some of the readings we had on some of these men, I think, so possibly you have gotten a pretty good idea of the character of the men. They have a lot of business, but are certainly all tied up with the depreciated prices in real estate throughout Florida, and are truly in quite an embarrassing position financially, and such conditions seem to exist pretty well throughout the country. I dread sometimes to think of the present conditions entering a presidential year - but I’m in hopes that we’ll have this well going pretty soon, and that it will make the conditions for a whole lot, anyway, in a much better shape than they have been in some time.

I also was called up to New York just after I came back here. It’s the same old cry of slow business. I heard one man say that is connected with a large department store there, that their business in the last three months was over two hundred thousand dollars shy from what it was the same time last year. I had a very interesting experience while there this time. I went to a meeting one evening - there were some twenty odd people there that we had given readings for - some of them as much as twelve to fifteen years ago - some of them only a few months ago - some a few days ago - and quite a number outside of these that we have appointments for now. It certainly was interesting to meet people that I had never seen but had heard from a good many times, and each and everyone - almost to the man - had nothing but praise for the good they had received from the work. It certainly was very pleasing. I was trying to interest this group sufficiently to get our institute in shape. I believe we will.

We still find we are crowded with requests having every one that we can take care of, and more, though we are NOT receiving as much contribution as we could USE - we are managing to get along in a fashion.

Well, I’m in hopes you’ll let us hear from you every chance you have. I have really been expecting to have some real good reports from the well, and I feel sure that we will have before very long. You know we are very, very anxious.

R2. 4/4/27 Mr. Ralph M. Taylor (accountant in Mr. Wyrick’s office at Western Union Telegraph Office in Chicago) wrote: “Doubtless you are aware of the fact that the Well was shot on Thursday, March 31st, with results and seem to confirm your wonderful prediction. The drilling out process is now under way so it ought not to be long now.”

HAD NO GAS SHOWING THIS MORNING WE LET WATER INTO HOLE STOP THE GAS STARTED BY HEADS AND BY NOON BLEW WATER TO TOP OF DERRICK STOP IT QUIT AND HAS NOT MADE ANOTHER HEAD OF GAS SINCE STOP PAT THINKS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRILL OBSTRUCTIONS OUT.

R5. 4/18/27 Mr. Wyrick’s letter to EC:

THE WESTERN UNION TELEGRAPH COMPANY, Incorporated - PLANT DEPARTMENT - M. B. Wyrick Division Plant Superintendent - Chicago

Mr. Edgar Cayce, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.

My dear Cayce:-

I have not written you since before I went to Texas. I spent two weeks at the well. We put in a light shot trying to move the obstruction. It was not successful but cut our line of casing 1400 ft. up. We then put in 150 quarts and got considerable gas showing. The hole was bridged 70 ft. above the shot, then pulled the line of 4 3/4” casing and found that 1400 ft. was left in the hole. The bottom end of this collapsed at the point where the hole was bridged. After several days efforts to get thru with the drill, we find this to be impossible and placed another small shot in the top of the bridge. This closed the casing about 26 ft. farther up but released more gas. The hole has been gassing at frequent intervals ever since, but it is in such condition that we will be unable to drill thru the obstructions and make a producer. The only hope is that it might possible blow in thru crevices around the obstruction.

Now the question is - shall we drill another well? How and where will we finance it and where should it be located?

Please give me a reading on these questions, also the possibility of doing anything more with this hole.

R6. 4/19/27 E. Bateman’s letter to Mr. Wyrick:

Kopperl, Tex.

Dear Mr. Wyrick:

I sure do wish you could have been here Saturday morning - we started to pull that casing and pulled it in two, let the water in the hole. It ran in there for about an hour - that held the gas down until it got enough pressure to shoot the water out. It blew up close to the top of the derrick and stayed that way for several minutes, just pouring back down like an artesian well. It kept doing that until the hole got full of water and it was just so heavy it could not push it out any more.

Gas would burn in the pipe (Friday evening) like it did when you were here.

That shows a pretty good gas pressure - sure looks like it could be a well. I don’t think though there is any use trying to clean that hole with the casing tore up as it is. We know what is in this part of the world if we never do get to it, don’t we?

If the fellows don’t believe about that gas, just write me, for I was there at work and the water seemed full of oil - looked greasy.
