This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5037], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Born May 10, 1895, Los Vegas, New Mexico. Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Canada.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [5037].

3. In analyzing same there is much from which to draw. Here, we find, is an entity with these characteristics, when considering the composite of the urges arising from the astrological sojourns, or the interims between the periods of consciousness in the earth plane:

4. One who could adapt itself to most any environment; one capable of doing many things well; one who is at its best when it works with someone with whom the entity is in sympathy or enrapport, or someone in whose abilities the entity has confidence.

5. One who is interested primarily in mind and life. Thus conditions having to do with people rather than things are of particular interest to the entity.

6. Astrologically, then, we find urges or awarenesses from Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn.

7. Also from these we find that wherever the entity hangs its hat is home. The entity will move about from place to place, it will call many places home, yet innately there is the desire to settle down; yet circumstances, varied conditions will appear to make this impractical for the entity.

8. As to the application of the entity, in that in which it may find outlets, we find that the oriental thought will be of special interest, more because of sojourns there. But remember, truth is truth in any language, in any clime and that to which man needs to subscribe is, namely: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with all thy mind, thy body, thy soul, and thy neighbor as thyself.” The rest of philosophy, the rest of theology is only the explaining of that in individuals’ lives.

9. Know that this has been manifested in the earth, and they who deny that it has been are without real hope.

10. Then follow in that way, that pattern which was shown by Him.

11. As to the appearances in the earth, these have been quite varied.

12. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity when there were those activities when the entity’s parents, John and Mary Clay, journeyed through the land.

13. The entity grew up in an environment of the great outdoors. There were material hardships, yet the activities brought the entity into what might be called a most fortunate meeting, so that in the latter portion of that sojourn the entity had all the conditions that could be supplied by material gains and a social environment. In the experience the entity accepted it rather as something due the entity, and this we shall see why from other environments.

14. Thus, while the entity dislikes hard work, if it is necessary the entity can labor as well as the next one and, as indicated, the entity works better, in whatever may be the choice of activity, with those who are of the same thought or temperament; as in a home, as in social manners, as in education, as in teaching or the like; and the entity is a wonderful companion.

15. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land among those who looked on when there was the crucifying of the Master. The entity wept with those who wept, without the consciousness of why.

16. With the passing of days and the ministrations of the Disciples on the day of Pentecost, the entity experienced the happenings that went on there.

17. Thus the high emotional feeling of the entity in the present concerning some with whom the entity has been and has come in contact. These were associates, companions at those periods of great spiritual awakening, spiritual determinations.

18. Throughout that period of sojourn the entity was active in good deeds; that is, gentleness, patience, kindness, brotherly love, longsuffering.

19. The name then was Ester.

20. Before that the entity was in the Mongoloid land, or in those periods of that activity which paralleled the reign in Egypt during the latter portion of Ra.

21. The entity was among those who gave out and accepted the teachings of the emissaries from Egypt, the entity aided in making a brotherly coordinating activity through the land in those periods.

22. The name then was Eissen.

23. Before that the entity was in Atlantis, a priestess, an aid to an Es-Se-Ne [?], and the keeper of the white stone or that through which many of those peoples before the first destructions in Atlantis kept their accord with the universal consciousness, through the speaking to and through those activities.

24. As to the abilities of the entity, as has been indicated, the entity may become a helper in any endeavor - not alone, but as a helper - dealing with people and minds that would make for a unifying of purpose for those in the earth who love His coming.

26. (Q) Do I have any special spiritual talent? (A) Read that just indicated.

27. (Q) What part am I best qualified to fill in the Science of Mentalphysics? (A) As indicated, a helper.

28. (Q) In what manner may I be of value or assistance in the new city of Mentalphysics? (A) As has been indicated, these are the channels through which the entity may work the better, to UNIFY. Do not segregate those who seek truth!

29. (Q) What were my past associations with Ding Le Mei, what are the urges from these, and how may they best be used for the mutual development of each? (A) Associations and companionships in the Holy Land, especially after Pentecost.

Hold fast to those teachings indicated.

Following that was the lovely cooperation I had from Mr. Cayce and you regarding the attempt to find a doctor who would be reliable… Perhaps later you might help me with my Life Reading. Up to now I have been primarily interested in the treatment for my son…”

R2. 11/1/47 Letter to HLC: ”…I was taught thru Mentalphysics how to attune myself, and it was I think, by means of that prayer that I was led to find your father… It happens that my husband has been unable to understand any of these things. I know full well what it is to be persecuted. I do not mean to say anything against him, for he is an unusually fine and good person. For that reason I could not understand his intolerance and his complete disbelief in all spiritual things. Your wonderful friends [[470] and [1100]] were unable to awaken him as we expected and hoped their assistance would do. I am so happy to have met them…”

R3. 11/10/47 Letter: ”…I usually hide my bible reading, but last night I opened it to Hebrews. I was so absorbed that he walked in to find me reading. He became extremely angry and said: ‘there we parted company.’ I do not understand my husband’s attitude at all. My whole life and prosperity is really wrapped up in these things, but I had as far as any one could tell, put it all aside and studied secretly…”

R4. 11/13/47 Letter: ”…My husband has become extremely angry and has caused me to promise to keep my bible and all religious literature out of his sight. I do not understand his peculiar attitude. He is very, very angry with me…”

R5. 3/20/48 Letter: ”…An invisible person is coming to my room. This started last November, when I had suffered such persecution that I did not believe I could continue living. I did not know such things could happen. When I think only good, surely it would be a good power, would it not? My husband was telling me that if I continued these studies that I would have to leave his house at once. That is when the messenger came…”

R6. 6/11/48 Letter: ”…My husband became very angry and said I had to choose between him and my religion… Every time I reach a pinnacle of joy and strength, he acts this way. Ever since we were 13, we have had peace until I began to study religious things…”

R7. 6/50 Letter: ”…I feel as if I have been in Palestine and yet I do not know exactly what that means. I can easily imagine…”

R9. 12/5/50 Letter: ”…My son has fondness for Virginia Beach. Today he took the pamphlet ‘Am I My Brother’s Keeper’ to school…”

R10. 3/8/51 Letter: ”…If the Congress is the last week of June, I won’t be able to attend. I just can’t believe that I have to miss a Congress…”

R11. 4/19/52 Letter: “I am in …, California. We have been extremely busy while here. My son was so happy to see HLC…”

R12. 10/16/52 Mrs. [5037] has renewed her active membership annually. She writes frequently indicating a keen interest in A.R.E. activities.

R13. 12/61 She wrote that her son [3676] and his lovely deaf-mute wife now had a second child - a son - the first being a girl

• both children perfectly normal as to hearing and speech.

R14. 5/68 Her husband died.

R15. 8/68 She wrote that her son [3676] and his second wife, also a deaf-mute, had a baby daughter - perfectly normal as to hearing and speech. Son [3676] was addicted to drink and did not stick to a job.

R16. 8/27/69 She wrote that her son and his wife and three children were living with her. “To be a captive of the deaf is really hard… They are letting everything go to ruin and I am helpless… [3676] reads the Bible day and night.”

R17. 10/14/69 She wrote that son [3676] “has cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors said he had to spend 12-15 hours a day in bed.” She was terribly concerned with her own old age and her desire to give the three healthy, normal grandchildren the environment and help needed.

R18. 5/31/70 She wrote that her son [3676] had died on 5/15th: “I have been so busy the past few years caring for people, I could not read or study. I hope I have some time now, but I am still very busy.”

R19. 2/18/76 Mrs. [5037] requested, and was subsequently sent, a copy of her life reading. She indicated that her granddaughter was planning to attend the A.R.E. Educational Program in March in their city.

B1. 9/17/43 Letter: ”…I have a feeling that I was led to you through prayer. I have been almost wholly absorbed in the study of the bible and searching for ‘The Way’ for some time. The manner in which I was led to the book ‘There Is A River’ was most unusual. It did not come through any person or thru any search. All summer I lived on an island where I lived much in prayer, asking ‘The Way’ for my son [3676]…”

B2. 10/5/43 Letter: ”…My interest has always been in the medical profession. If I had been strong, I would have been a doctor. I have wondered why they could not open their minds to all types of beneficial knowledge. I am sure you have shown the future doctors how much they have limited themselves. However, all progress and evolution are slow, I guess, which no doubt is as it should be…”

B3. 10/27/43 Letter: ”…If your diagnosis checked with doctors in re to my son, there is no one that could stop me from following out these treatments. Even my family would not believe and have almost divorced me for my continued hope and mostly for my interest in religious subjects. I have never been able to understand this attitude…”

B4. 11/8/43 Letter: ”…It is very wonderful to me the way prayer is answered, that I stand in reverence and also fear that I may not be worthy. Ever since I picked up the bible in the summer of 1939 and said to myself: ‘there must be a secret here’, everything in my life has changed in an amazing way. The things which have happened seem unbelievable… I would like to tell you a beautiful little story…going back to 1939 when unusual things began to happen.

”…I too heard the voice of the Lady - last summer, as I sat in meditation on the island, but her only word was ‘Peace’. That was before I had heard of you… The 19th of July I left the island to attend a wedding in a Catholic Church (I am not Catholic). I forgot that I was attending a wedding, and entered the spirit to such a degree that it seemed to me that suddenly the whole church was filled with light as I was contemplating the statue of Jesus above the altar… I thought of my son. Until that time, I merely wanted to learn His way, not feeling that I yet knew enough to even ask about my son… Seven days later I went to … I bought a … newspaper, which I never do. I turned at once to book reviews which I never never have done. There was Mr. Sugrue’s book ‘There Is a River’. I knew at once that you were the one to help my son… I find that the appointment for son is exactly 7 months to the day (19 of Feb.) from that moment in church. It is with great reverence that I approach this information. I have given thanks over and over. Whether there is hope or not - whatever the information is I shall then know the truth…”

B5. 4/19/44 A.M. She obtained her Physical Rdg., 5037-1. She also had obtained a Rdg. for her deaf-mute son, [3676].
