GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes. As we find, conditions here are very serious.
-
The infection which attacks the vital forces of general nerve supply is reducing the abilities of the assimilations to build any resistance in the body.
-
These, as we find, are from the self-indulgences and these infections arise from the disorders in a general blood disorder.
-
As we find, we would use the multiple radio short-wave oscillator about every other day, and also the ultra-violet ray with the green glass projected between the body and the ultra-violet. This should be stained and not painted green glass. The light should be the mercury light and not the carbon light. It should be placed at least forty-seven to forty-eight inches from the body, and the green light about fourteen inches. Have this about 8” x 10” or 10” x 12”. This should be for a minute or a minute and a half, over the areas of the 9th dorsal, while the oscillator (the multiple short-wave oscillator), would be applied directly to the circulation or at the bronchial center.
-
Do these. As we find, these may offer the greater possibilities for prolongation and eradication, if there is the attitude for the using of self for creative activities.
-
Ready for questions. [Note: E.C.F. files have no record of questions for this reading.]
-
We are through with this reading.
2 Copies to wife (one for Doctor [4927]) Copy to Ass’n file ” for indexing
(If unable to secure green plate glass locally, it can be ordered from The American Plate & Window Glass Co., Prospect Ave., East Orange, N.J., for $2.50 per square foot. A piece 8” x 10” or 10” x 12” will do. This is to be suspended about 14” from the body, between the ultra-violet ray and the body. This would be used every other day, or the days that the short-wave treatment is not used.)

B1. 4/25/44 Wife’s letter: “Enclosed is an application for a Physical Reading for my husband, whom the doctors have declared hopelessly afflicted. They have given him (not to his knowledge) about 6 months to live. I delayed sending this application because I wanted to feel that he would live long enough to benefit by a reading before calling upon Mr. Cayce for advice and counsel. On the attached sheet I have listed a brief case history which I would greatly appreciate your considering with a view of giving our application the very earliest attention possible…”
Case History: “My husband is a man of 52 years, who has been in apparent good health all his life. In fact, he has not visited a doctor outside of yearly physical checkups, nor has he been away from work in the past 14 years until October 1943. At this time, he suffered a fall which injured his ankle and necessitated staying off his feet for about 3 days. Upon his return to work, he was required to have a physical examination, just routine, and the result of this examination gave a positive Wasserman blood test. Because of the fact that he is a mature, good-living man and because of his past health record, the tests were repeated, with the same results. Of course, this news was startling and demoralizing, and when the physicians urged him to immediately start the treatment recommended, he did. This was without taking anyone into his confidence to help him make the mental and physical adjustment such a shock requires. For nearly 3 months he underwent weekly treatments, lost nearly 40 pounds in weight, and was suspended from his work because of physical inability to carry the load 7 days a week.
In discouragement, he stopped the weekly treatments for a while, and went to a sanitarium for a rest, and to try to increase his weight. While there, he read ‘There Is A River’, and corresponded with an old friend who is a Parsee Zoroastrian. He is convinced that if he could be assured that his physical condition has been properly diagnosed, and with his mental attitude improved, as it now is, he could meet with courage any treatment deemed necessary. The doctors now say that his heart and kidneys have been so weakened by the disease that if he does not undergo immediate and severe treatment, he will probably not live longer than 6 months. Naturally, I do not know how to advise him, but he cannot face the prospects of the treatment prescribed when he is not convinced that his illness was correctly diagnosed.
It is difficult to believe that condition has just recently attacked him, nor is it reasonable to believe that it is of sustained origin when yearly checkups for 14 years did not reveal it. The symptoms appear to be only an enlarged heart and a positive blood test, which may be enough for a physician but which to a man clinging to a hope of a happy future can have an element of doubt…
My husband is confined to his room and seems very week and nervous. This is a pitiful condition for a man who has been in his day a professional musician, a professional photographer, and a student and friend of J. Edgar Hoover. You can see that none of his interests have been passive ones, and he is surely not resigned to a life of inactivity. It is perhaps this very quality that will either save him or doom him to an early demise, but the latter would be far the more desirable if his health is not restored. My husband and I are very happy in our life together, and we are mentally and spiritually mature … we believe in the power of God thru the soul, spirit and body of the individual, and we try to separate that truth from dogma in broadening our understanding of new sciences…”
“P.S. Dr. George, an osteopathic physician of …, Del., has read Mr. Cayce’s biography, and he is very anxious to help us follow his reading.”
B2. 5/4/44 Wife’s letter: “This is written, at your suggestion, to confirm the telephone conversation between you and our physician, Dr. George this evening. He explained my husband’s condition, which he has diagnosed as Cardiorenal Syphilis. He also stated that in his opinion, my husband’s life expectancy is at most a matter of a few months, and might be as short as several weeks. Your willingness to try to arrange an emergency reading sometime this week is a great kindness. We will endeavor to maintain a prayerful and spiritual attitude so that the reading will be as nearly perfect as we can together - make it. My husband’s physical condition is such that during the late evening and night he is under the influence of sleeping tablets, but at other times he will maintain to the best of his ability that faith and trust in the will and goodness of God which will sustain him for anything the reading might hold. We are indeed humbled at your great gift… My husband will be …, Del.”
B3. 5/9/44 EC’s telegram: “Will attempt your reading this morning 10:30 to 11:30 E.W.T.”
