Protestant) This Psychic Reading was given by Edgar Cayce, at his office in Hopkinsville, Ky., this 25th day of July, 1911.

Time of Reading 11:10 A. M. …, Ala.

1. LBC: You have before you [5086] of …, Ala. Go over him carefully, examine him thoroughly, and tell us what is the matter with him.

2. EC: The condition as we have here in the body of [5086], is the same nature as we have had before, while the condition of the indigestion, that is the intestinal trouble, with that of the nervous system, is improved, though the weakened condition of the physical body has lost, through the strain on the nervous and muscular system. There is a lack of elimination, then the condition that existed here the time before.

3. Now to eliminate this condition from the system, we will have to eliminate on this discharge here, or this portion of the lower limbs, or through that of the humor in the circulation itself, taken up by the rebuilding cell of the generatory system.

4. We will keep into the system that which we have for the present, that is the medicinal properties we are taking in. We will apply to the limbs here, you see the muscles have grown taut, and drawn, the body is thin and emaciated, and we have poor circulation, and will apply here to those particles here, that of amadou fungus, that of Plantain. Take the roots and leaves, form into a jelly, cook to a jelly, with equal parts of that of fat, or milk, without anything in it, the butter. Apply to those portions of the body, and rub into the circulation.

5. (Q) What other treatment? (A) We will take into that of the system here, Iron and Beef, the peptonized Iron and Beef, for rebuilding the blood and muscular tissues.

Rub the spine well with the hand, and the body will improve here; it has the will force to get better.

R1. In 1920, at the request of [5086], a Physical Reading was given for his wife, Mrs. [3774].

R2. In 1924, a Physical Reading was given for his sister, Mrs. [1690].

R3. In 1926, EC received a letter from another sister of Mr. [5086]. This sister had a reading given for her son [4525]. Her gratitude is expressed for that reading in such letter. Regarding Mr. [5086], she remarks: ”…I also remember what you did for my brother [5086] years ago…”

R4. 9/21/26 EC’s letter: “Had a letter from [[4525]‘s mother] the other day, and she gave me your address again and suggest that I write you…”

R5. 2/20/29 EC’s letter: “It’s a mighty long time saying something, but you and [your wife [3774]] have certainly been in my heart and mind often since I last saw you. I hope that you are feeling a whole lot better long before this…”

R6. 4/17/30 Letter: ”…Do not know that you had heard, but [my wife] went to the hospital last summer…”

R7. 4/23/30 EC’s reply: “I was indeed glad to have yours of the 17th. Pa has been quite ill with pneumonia… Sorry indeed to hear of [your wife’s] trouble…”

R8. 6/26/30 Letter: “Called up Tuesday account of illness of mother… I wonder if you think it advisable to give her a reading? You know how we feel about you, and the doctor here does not say anything much than what we observe ourselves… She is at …, Ky…”

R9. 7/3/30 Letter: “Received your wire Saturday about mother… While I have not heard from her up to this writing, I cautioned her in my wire to carry the treatment out as you diagnosed. You have no idea how much I appreciated this assistance, and in the very near future I will try and repay you in some manner…”

R10. 4/3/34 EC’s letter: “It was indeed a real pleasure to see you both [[5086]‘s wife] again…”

R11. 12/28/34 EC’s letter: “Just a note to let you know that I appreciate your remembering us at the holiday season…”

R12. 8/15/40 HLC’s letter: “In going through our files, I find copies of some very old Physical Readings given for you. These are some of our very earliest records, and I am anxious to secure a report on them. I wonder if you still have copies of the readings, or if you remember anything regarding the surroundings or conditions when they were given? We are particularly anxious to know how accurate the readings were, in analyzing the conditions that existed at that time, and what results were obtained. The readings for you were given in June and July 1911, in Hopkinsville, Ky. The one for [your wife] was given in Selma, Ala. in 1920. Possibly, there have been others of which we have no record. Please use the report blanks enclosed…” A.R.E. files do not have a record of a reply to this letter.]
