Time of Reading 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Alabama.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Sure is switching across the country.*

3. Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before. Many changes have come about in the physical forces of this body since we had it here before. Some are very good, some of course, are changed entirely.

4. The loss of the vision in the eye is due to pressures in the sinus areas, which affected or caused the iritis, which caused the flowing of the fluid into the nerve tissue. This may not be changed, but if the general health of the body is kept well, there should not be, unless there is an injury to the head, the affecting of the other eye. For the strength, as for vision in the optic forces, is really improved in the left eye.

5. We would, then, be mindful in the activities of the body to keep eliminations first, for these at times are not good.

6. The tendencies for inflammation through face and head, from disorders long existent in the condition, need to be kept thrown off from the system by better eliminations.

*[EC sometimes gave as many as 8 or more readings in one day during 1943 - 1944. On the morning of this reading, between 10:30 - 11:30 Eastern War Time, he gave 4 Physical Readings and 1 Life Reading. The reader can therefore imagine what it meant for EC to locate each one of those individuals during that hour. This could account for such a remark.]

Occasionally have colonic irrigations and a gentle massage, but no electricity, save the very low forms of same, as might be used by the body, of the body-vibrations itself. For the using of the Radio-Active Appliance with the ice, and keeping plates very clean and using this regularly when the body is tired, will bring rest and build energies for the body. The use of this should be, when it is used, a half hour to an hour. Use this as the body would rest, and use that same period for meditation or for reading or for analyzing, but not for analyzing business problems, nor as periods when you would argufy with anyone, but creative forces: as study of self, study of purposes, study of ideals. Reading of scripture or of your Sunday School lesson, then, when you study. Go to Sunday School.

8. (Q) Anything wrong with my physical condition otherwise? (A) As has been indicated, there needs to be kept better eliminations. These may be done by activities which have been indicated and in the diets being kept. Not too much of meat, but vegetables and especially raw vegetables and fruits.

R1. 5/13/44 EC’s letter: “I have yours of May 10… I believe that you will find in the information what I am told is very encouraging. I hope so anyway… Do follow through on the suggestions given… Do let me hear from you from time to time, for you know I will be anxious…”

R2. 5/23/44 Wife’s letter: “Received your sweet and encouraging letter, and in a few days, May 16, received the wonderful reading, and it made us both feel so good to know that [5086]‘s left eye is so strong. For about 5 years, he has suffered with pains in the right side of his head, and he often spoke of it as neuralgia headaches, and would take something, and sometimes they would pass off and again the pain would last for a day or two, so guess all this time it was injuring his eyesight. You speak of a Radio-Active Appliance with the ice. You will have to write and tell us more about this, and when you speak of the gentle massage but no electricity save the very low form of same, do you mean massage with the hand? [5086] hopes to be able to get an appointment for a colonic irrigation this week and I judge this massage you refer to is done by the party when he gets the irrigation, isn’t it? You really hit the nail on the head about his rest; he just can’t relax and sleeps so little. I am in hopes of getting your reading carried out to the letter. As to the diet, he already has it, but do I have a hard time getting him to eat raw vegetables! You know these [people like] [5086], it is hard to make them do what they don’t want to do. Your reading really boosted him up, and he seems like his old self, and I am sure he will be much better after he gets these treatments…”

B3. 10/22/43 [5086]‘s letter to EC: “Have you anyone to your knowledge, that owes you more in so many ways, that you hear from so seldom? It is not because we don’t think of you all, but our jobs are such now that when we get home after our day’s labor, we have to rest to be ready for the next day… We have enjoyed your book, ‘There Is A River’ so much, and it has been loaned out practically ever since we finished it. So many things in it that I had forgotten about, and now I think so often and much of the past… Edgar, I would like to become a member of your Association. Send me whatever application it takes, and of course, whatever the dues are, etc… I have lost the sight in one of my eyes. The doctors here do not give any hope of ever regaining the sight in it, but I will never be convinced until you say so. They say my other eye is all right, but I worry about that some times… [My wife] is getting along very well, but she has gall bladder trouble… Have been at home sick with a very deep cold for 4 days now. My wife has been using mustard plasters, and the doctor is giving me sulfa drugs, and I feel weak - just did escape pneumonia. Want to try to go back to work Monday…”

B4. 10/29/43 EC’s reply to [5086]: ”…I am fearful of sulfa drugs…let’s hope the man who is giving it to you knows exactly what he is doing. We have had some experience where it has been the wrong type for the condition…”

B5. 4/9/44 [5086]‘s letter to EC: “What a long time to wait to answer a wonderful letter… What a time you have had through your life, and what a break to have done so much good as you have for man in this world… Know you are awful busy, and every minute of your time is taken up. Same with me; working harder that I have ever worked and I wonder how I am to keep up much longer. Such a strain and nerve-wracking grind. I wonder each night how I will make the next day. Have to work Sunday…just had to take a week off last summer… Have lost sight entirely of my right eye. Might be because I worry about it, but I know it is an awful strain on my left eye. Do hope there is something that can be done. As to questions, you know more about this than I do. Just want to know if there is anything to be done; if so, how?…, I am at home from…”

B6. 5/2/44 Letter: ”…Edgar, would like to know if anything can be done for my eye; if so, what? Also, if I will lose sight of other one? Also, if anything is wrong with my physical condition otherwise than eyes; if so what? What can be done to help or cure? You know more about this than I do. Would write more, but am in such a strut all the time, hardly know what I am doing…”

B7. 5/6/44 Wife [3774]‘s letter: “Wish that I could see you and have a long talk with you before you give [5086] his reading. That being impossible, writing is the next best. To begin with, [5086] does not know I am writing this. He is so dreadfully depressed about his eye; in fact, both of his eyes. He worries for fear he will lose the sight of his other eye (of course, that is enough to worry and depress one), and he told me he had asked you the question. At the present, his left eye seems very strong, but if your reading tells him his other eye will be so much worse, please don’t tell him. Write it to me, for there never was a truer saying: ‘What you don’t know don’t hurt you’. Of course, I don’t want you to misrepresent yourself, but surely there is some way out that you could tell him a treatment, as - Edgar

• I really would be afraid of the reaction and results with [my husband], as you can’t imagine just how depressed he is
• and understand the spirit in which I am writing this. And if you write to me, address me care of … where my shop is. You know, Edgar, my husband and I believe so in you and your work that we know just what you predict will really happen, so please do the best you can for [5086] [his] mind being relieved…”

B8. 5/10/44 EC’s reply: “Will do as you say; if there is anything that may be to his disadvantage to hear, will try to see that you have it and not he, but do not feel that you need have any fear. For very, very seldom has there been given anything that is not clothed in words that protect the person for whom it is meant…”

B9. 5/10/44 Letter: “Just a note requesting you to mail reading of myself to me here at the office. Will then have a chance to read it first, and if any bad news, [my wife] will not have to know about it, and that will save her worrying…”
