This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 31st day of August, 1932, in accordance with request made by his father, Mr. […] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [959].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis.]
Time of Reading 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, West Va. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes. Now, as we find, the conditions physical with this body are of the prenatal conditions, and there are those incoordinations that deal primarily with the lack of the functioning of glands, as well as elements that cause the deficiency in the organs’ functioning through the activity of glands with the distribution of elements that make for the proper distribution of assimilated forces in the body.
-
As would be seen and understood, a physical organism is as a working machine, when perfect in its elements, for the creating and sustaining of those forces within same to supply those energies necessary for not only the physical development but the mental. The active forces are those that work in conjunction with that as is assimilated in the developing body, and make for sustenance to that necessary to be supplied from the forces from without.
-
When there are those lacking of elements in system, and the inability of the body to produce those elements, through the inhibitions of the glands that make for the secretion of the forces that act with the elements of the physical body, these then are either supplied - that there may be the coordinating forces, or there remains those active forces by the system adjusting itself without there being the coordination through the nerve and muscular forces as course with the circulatory system in the body.
-
In meeting, then, these in the present - for, as we find, would there be brought about those conditions that would be of assistance or aid in any permanent manner (for, as has been classed, this is by some considered an incurable condition, or elements are lacking wherein there may not be supplied those forces that would make for the continuity of that being properly assimilated to bring about a normal coordinating balance in the body) treatments would be begun in such a way and manner as to make for the developing forces those that would bring coordinations for the body, mentally, and physically. Physically, of course, first, with the mental developments that will be carried by that as will be assimilated through the creating of energies with those portions of the system that do function now for any digestion at all.
-
We would prepare, then, as this: The wet cell or wet battery application. To the nickel pole and nickel anode we would make for the application of the Chloride of Gold solution to be carried into the system. Now the positive, or the one not carrying the Gold, should always be attached to the body first, when preparing to use or to give the treatment for same; and the positive, or the first anode attached, would be attached to the 2nd and 3rd dorsal center, or to the secondary cardiac plexus center - 2nd and 3rd dorsal center; while that carrying the Gold - and the larger plate - would be attached to that area over the liver, the gall ducts and the pancrean ducts, especially, or to the right and up a bit from the umbilicii plexus; so that the vibrations that will be created by the low form of the electrical vibration will carry to the organs of assimilation that which will create within the elements of same to the organs that, with their ducts and centers, will create the proper elements for the building up of those resistances necessary, and replenishing of those conditions lacking in the glands and organs of this developing body.
-
This battery treatment would be given each day in the beginning, for twenty to thirty minutes in the evening - or at the close of the day.
-
Also we would give, preferably at the beginning of the day, a general massage over the whole system, and especially along the cerebro-spinal system - or from the base of the brain to the end of the spine and down the limbs, from the brachial center and from the lumbar center, massage with small quantities of olive oil and Russian White oil mixed together - equal parts - with a third the quantity of witchhazel. Just sufficient quantity for the body to assimilate. Do this each day.
-
As for the diet, keep that as will be assimilated by the body. It will be found necessary to change, but keep sufficient quantity of the vitamins especially of A, B, D and E. These will assist in the creating of CREATIVE energies, elements and forces within the body.
-
Every thirty-two days we would renew the battery charge; that is, emptying the solution and renewing same.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Can his speech be developed? (A) All those elements lacking for the active forces of the organs and the glands that supply the elements may be aided. Let’s begin, so that we will have something like a normal development of the body, and we may have then the active forces of the organs through those activities of those elements that make for the various portions of the system towards normal development.
-
(Q) How long should this treatment be continued before having a check reading? (A) Until at least the thirty-two treatments have been given.
-
(Q) Does he have any trouble of the feet? (A) As indicated, there’s trouble all through the whole system - for normalcy and coordination are not developing with the body!
-
(Q) May we hope for a complete cure? (A) If the expectancy and the persistency and consistency of the activities are kept, we may bring almost a NORMALCY in speech, walking, sight, hearing, and the reactions in the activities of the system.
-
(Q) Is there any further advice for those who have charge of this body? (A) Be persistent and consistent, knowing that those forces without may be added in the system to that of the desire of the mental forces of the body and of those supplying same, to RENEW those elements in the physical organism.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/5/32 Father’s letter: “We are accepting the rdg. with hopeful hearts and a confidence in the results to be obtained by following its dictates. We want to get started as soon as possible with the treatments.”
R2. 10/18/32 Mrs. [959]‘s letter: “I am so discouraged over the [512] child. The father is broke…they are unable to keep their car or what furniture they had… I was so hoping they could follow out the battery tr. and they want to but it looks hopeless now.”
R3. 2/22/33 Father’s letter: “Now we are in a position to order the battery providing you are willing to wait a while longer for your money. We can afford only the price of one at this time.”
R4. 2/28/33 EC wrote that he should by all means start the treatment, offering to give a Ck. Physical after they got started.
R5. 7/19/33 Father’s letter: “Up to the present time we have been unable to locate the proper kind of distilled water for the wet battery.”
R6. 8/1/33 EC’s letter: “You should be able to get this from any ice plant or drug store and a great many grocery stores carry it.”
R7. 9/20/33 Mrs. [959]‘s letter: “We are delighted with the rdg. for [146], it is very plain and hopeful, especially so to me since I have seen the little [512] boy. Last wk. the mother came to see me, asking that I come to see him. As you probably know his rdg. called for the wet battery tr. Well, they were not able to get it themselves and the American Legion furnished it and one of the members made up the thing and installed it. After some delays, one was the jar burst, they started giving the treatments on Aug. 10th. I saw him on the 14th of this month and there is a decided improvement. His greatest improvement is in his sleeping, she says. It has been her intention to write to you but I never had my hands as full when [146] was at his worst stage as she has. I really think she watches him too close - it makes him fret, and I know it is wrecking her. But they live on a highway and she is so afraid something will happen to him. But she is one of the happiest mothers over his improvement and I thoroughly believe she is in full accord, which of course is a great thing, and one of the points that I try to impress. She is anxious to have the Glad Helpers add him to their list. She said as I left her the last time that she felt prayer is the greatest force there is. I do wish many more felt that way, results would be more in evidence.”
R8. 10/16/33 Father’s letter: “Since our last correspondence we have moved from …, West Va. to …, Va., compelling us to miss 2-3 wks. battery tr. on little [512]. However, the first 32 tr. were completed. In moving our additional supply of Chloride of Gold solution was lost, delaying further our continuance of tr., as we cannot duplicate locally. You will greatly oblige by sending us c.o.d. the proper amt. at once.
“[512] shows lots of improvement but stays highly nervous. How long would you suggest we continue these treatments before having a ck.rdg.?”
R9. 10/19/34 EC ordered one ampule fifteen grains Chloride of Gold sent c.o.d. from Burrow-Martin Drug Co., and suggested a Ck. Rdg. in the next 30-60 days.
R10. 1/16/33 Mother’s letter: “I am writing to you in regard to our little boy, [512]. We are still using the battery and give him the massages each morning. His understanding has improved greatly. He is beginning to make sentences, but he is still very nervous and occasionally he jerks his eyes.
“My husband has been out of work but has been fortunate in getting a good job but he works out of the city and comes back every Sat. He also gets paid each Sat., so would it be asking too much of you if I ask you for a ck. rdg. of little [512] as soon as you could possibly give it, and I will mail you the $10, or whatever amt. it will be, Sat. night? I am including a few questions we would like to know in case you do have a rdg. of him. I know I will hear from you at your earliest convenience…
“What really is [512]‘s trouble and what caused it? Would you advise a change in any way for him? If he should need a doctor’s treatment, name doctor. What causes the jerk of his eye, or whole side, rather, and his screaming when he wakes from afternoon naps?
“I can have [512] in dining room or any room you wish. Would other children or one other child interfere at all?”
R11. 1/20/34 EC wrote that he’d get the ck. rdg. as soon as possible after returning to Va. Beach from his stay in N.Y.
R12. 1/23/34 Mother’s letter: “I am very happy about little [512]. He improves more every day in speech and understanding, and I’ll frankly admit that if we had done more regularly your instructions he would have been better still, but moving about as we have threw us off of the track somewhat. I am, of course, worried a little that the nervous jerk of his side that he used to have has come back again. That is why I would like a rdg. as soon as possible.”
R13. 2/9/34 See 512-2.
R14. 8/1/34 Mother’s letter see under 512-2 Reports saying: “It will be 4 yrs. the 25th of April since he was operated on for those spells [4/25/30] and he jerks his eye bad sometimes and trembles all over [He will be 8 yrs. old 5/26/35].”
R15. 7/25/36 See 512-3, for which the mother submitted the question: “Will I send [512] away to school or not, and what causes those convulsions, and can he be cured?”
Background
Background
B1. 8/15/32 Father’s letter: “I am enclosing application blanks given me by Mrs. [959] for a rdg. of my little boy. Am enclosing a letter of guarantee for the cost of the rdg. The American Legion is doing everything possible to benefit my boy. Can his speech be developed? Does he have any trouble of the feet? What is the cause of his trouble? Do his eyes have any bearing on condition? May we hope for a complete cure?”
B2. 8/30/32 Mrs. [959]‘s letter: “I am anxious to get the [512] child’s rdg. He is certainly a pitiful case - the only boy in the family and 4 sisters.”
