This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 15th day of February, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [514], through her brother, Mr. [348], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Calif. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [514]; this we have had before.
-
Many are the changes in the physical forces of the body, and the reactions in same in the mental body. In the physical the greater portion of these, as we find, are for the general betterment. There are still those conditions that at times give distress to the body, but if there are the proper precautions taken respecting the diet and the general activity of the body - following along the lines of those things that have been outlined for the body, these, as we find, would be much better.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes the soreness and pain in the hinge of the left jaw - a pain that starts in the jaw joint and shoots up to the temple, and sometimes to the top of the head? (A) The lack of proper eliminations makes for an accumulation where there are the portions that are the more easily affected. There are some disorders with the gums, and these poisons that come from strept formations in and about the roots of the teeth make for a reaction that is centralized there. This being supplemented by the activity in the eliminating forces in the ducts about the lacteals and the assimilations from the pancreas and bile ducts makes for poor circulation in the upper portion of the body.
We would have some local attention to the teeth and gums. We would use the preparation of Ipsab for the hardening and toughening of the gums, cleansing also the teeth with same will make for better conditions; but this would be preferably done after there has been the local attention to some of these that need it, because - of course - the application of the properties in Ipsab does not heal broken dentrifice or the enamel or where exposed nerves are shown; though with its application it’ll PREVENT tooth decay, for it will cleanse the disorders that make for the reaction and keep the condition more alkalin in this area.
- (Q) Urinalysis of August 22, 1933, showed small amount of pus in urine. Is there still a source of infection, and where? (A) Rather in the upper portion of the hepatic circulation, as indicated, or around the gall duct, see? Now, as to the activities of the liver and the kidneys, they are as the poles of a generator that are as positive and negative in their reaction. The liver is an excretory and secreting organ. The kidneys are excretory and secreting, but in the opposite way and manner. The liver prepares values for the assimilating and for the necessary elements to PRODUCE better assimilation, while the functioning of the kidneys is rather to PURIFY the circulation by taking FROM the blood supply infectious forces that are carried off by the slushing of same with the quantities of water taken. See?
In making applications for this condition in the body, as we find, we would have at least three or four osteopathic treatments that would empty the gall bladder, see - or gall duct, and then - not with those things that would increase the hepatic circulation to such an extent, as through very large quantities of cathartics, but - use rather those activities that work with the better conditions in the system, as in this manner:
From a bottle of Fletcher’s Castoria we would take out at least a teaspoonful of the liquid, which may be taken separate - for it won’t hurt you, be rather good for you. Then, to 3 drams of Buchu leaves add 1 ounce of distilled water and let this steep for a few minutes as a tea, or pour the boiling water over same, you see. Then fill up the bottle of Castoria with this tea, shake well and take it for the eliminations; taking half a teaspoonful every thirty minutes until the whole bottle is taken. The Buchu leaves act as an active principle on the kidneys in the eliminations. With the bowels opened by the activity of the gall duct being drained, the eliminations will act with both of these and this will disappear - and it will not produce any great amount of strain on either portion of the system.
Well, too, at times to have a compound put together to massage across the area of the kidneys for the weakening condition produced in same by strains that have existed, put together in this manner:
To an ounce of dissolved mutton tallow, used as the basis, we would add:
Spirits of Turpentine…20 drops, Spirits of Camphor…40 drops, Tincture of Benzoin…20 drops, Oil of Sassafras…3 drops.
Shake this well together, of course, for it will tend to separate even as it cools; hence it will be necessary to warm it when it is to be used on the body, which would be done once or twice a week. Massage this just what will be absorbed, and it’ll clear up all these conditions. Just over the kidney area; that is, from the 9th dorsal to the sacral area.
-
(Q) Are my teeth throwing poison into my system? (A) They are; and we have indicated what to do about them!
-
(Q) What causes great tenderness in left front tooth occasionally. X-ray does not show pus pocket. (A) The pus pocket is there!
-
(Q) Shall I continue on with the prescription I am taking and which seems to have helped me? (A) We would continue when it’s needed. Don’t take it all the time and let the system get to depend upon it. We would watch the diet and keep rather in an alkalinity for the system, being mindful that in the vegetables you have three above the ground to one below the ground, and follow these conditions as we have suggested.

We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/14/34 Mrs. [340]‘s letter which was not received until after 514-4: “[514] told me in her last letter that she is in a highly nervous state and doesn’t sleep two hours during the night hardly.”
R2. 2/24/34 [514]‘s letter to EC: “Today I received my check reading and I want to thank you. I cannot express my appreciation of your great kindness to me. I am going to follow the suggestions given just as faithfully as I possibly can. Diet has always puzzled me because I have never been instructed in food combinations and although I have read a lot on the subject, still I do not seem to understand. I am writing [340] for some pointers, as I know she has been studying diet closely the past few years. The information about my front tooth make the reading invaluable to me because x-ray did not disclose any trouble there, and yet the tooth has been tender to the touch for three months or more.”
R3. 9/24/34 [514]‘s letter to EC: “I was greatly pleased to receive your nice letter some days ago [inquiring about [514]‘s condition], but it caused me shame that I had not written you long ago. The truth is, Mr. Cayce, that for financial reasons it has just been impossible for me to give my teeth the dental attention they need, and that you suggested, and I have delayed writing you hoping that some change of fortune would make a visit to the dentist possible. However, I have been using the pyorrhea corrective which [340] obtained from you and sent me [Ipsab], and it has improved the condition of my gums wonderfully; and I have had very few of the head pains the last few months.
“I followed your suggestions as closely as my finances would permit so far, and just as soon as I possibly can I will visit the dentist. On the whole, thanks to your wonderful reading, I am feeling 100% better than before I wrote you; and excepting a vague worry about my teeth (and a knowledge that I am in need of a few osteopathic treatments as suggested in the Reading) I am feeling pretty good physically. My mental control, however, received such a terrific shock when I lost my dear little mother so suddenly
- who had been my constant companion for years - that I have not so far been able to readjust myself entirely. However, we are told that all things are for the best, and I just must become reconciled.”
R4. 3/4/42 Routine mailing was returned marked ADDRESS UNKNOWN.
R5. 3/27/55 Miss [243]‘s letter: “Brother-in-law [348] is in California now, has been there for more than a month. His sister [514] died and his brother […] is not so well. [348] is helping to break up the home and dispose of everything.”

B2. 12/15/33 “I have not been well for 6 months - all of a sudden I just seemed to give out, and in August and also September, I was practically confined to the bed and ran a fever of from 1O1-103 for a week at a time. I feel better now but I know there is still something wrong, and you helped me so wonderfully when you gave me my first reading 514-1 that I know I would gain great peace of mind if you would give me a reading now.”
