This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 14th day of April, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [515], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Mildred Davis, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce; Robert, Della, Marlene and Lilith Zentgraf.]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ill. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [515]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, the conditions are much improved in the general physical forces of the body. There are still those conditions that disturb the body from time to time, yet if there will be followed in the general manner those things that have been outlined for the applications for betterment, we will find improvements will continue.
-
For, we find the insomnia is better. We find a better tendency for coordinations in the physical forces of the body.
-
And we find that this would be the only addition we would make:
-
When there are those periods of distress for the respiratory system, in hard breathing or an aching through the lung area, a grain tablet of Calcidin taken would ease this very much. Should such continue, it would be well were three to five grains of Calcidin dissolved in two tablespoonsful of hot water and, kept covered, taken a few sips at the time - or a teaspoonful every hour or so; for this will relieve conditions.
-
As for those applications that are being made with the mechano-therapy or the neuropathic massage and adjustments, the drainages in system are being set up well - as indicated by the better respirations, the more normal activity of the heart in its coordination with the nerve reflexes in the body. And the general conditions are improved.
-
We would be mindful that the eliminations as related to the alimentary canal are kept nearer in accord. It would be well that the enemas be taken occasionally. Also it would be well that there be applied over these portions olive oil, as a massage, or olive oil and tincture of myrrh - equal parts, heating the oil and adding the myrrh; following the application of heat to the body, as from a hot bath or the electric pad. Any of these, that make for increasing of the lymph circulation, will tend to make for a better elimination through the torso or through the lower portions of the body and their activity with the system.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why the bloody stools at times? (A) The inflammation that is being thrown off from the system. If the oil packs are given, or the massage of oil, or tincture of myrrh and olive oil, across the abdomen and also along the cerebrospinal, with heat applied, we would gradually overcome these conditions. This arises from the strains that have existed in the system from the respiratory system throwing off faster than coordination between the eliminating forces of the body. Unless it becomes very much more exaggerated, this should not cause any worriment.
-
(Q) Are the tuberculosis of the lungs and bladder condition of secondary importance? (A) Secondary conditions in the present applications that are being made, and - as has been indicated - the activities of those properties suggested, with the general building up of the health, are overcoming. For, the excesses that may be created in resistances, through the increase of the red blood supply, are meeting the needs of the conditions. For, with a much more equal balance the leucocytes or the warriors in the blood supply are caring for these conditions.
-
(Q) Do you see that the Terpezone machine, to rebuild the body so it will be able to rest naturally, is accomplishing its purpose? Should I send it back or continue to use it? (A) As indicated from that we have given, the vibrations of the Radio-Active Appliance are a much better equalizer than the Terpezone; for this does not create at all times an even flow or balance, while the Radio-Active is a normal flow to the body. Keep the plates clean and the connections secure in these, and keep these treatments as the body sleeps or rests each day - for an hour and a half or two hours. Or, if put on in the evenings, all night will not be too much.
-
(Q) Is it being attached correctly? (A) As indicated from that just given, there have been times when the anodes or small plates have not been kept clean - and others when the attachments were not as secure as they should be.
-
(Q) Should the medicine be taken before meals or afterwards, or about how close to meals? (A) About twenty minutes before meals would be the better.
-
(Q) Any advice to Dr. Kapple, who is treating me? (A) As indicated, the drainages are being set up very well; and if the massage with oil is added, as indicated, we will find these treatments will aid the body (as they have) in gaining a better normal equilibrium.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/23/34 Letter from Dr. W. Lee Kapple to EC: ”…I have had the pleasure of studying your last reading relative to the case of Mrs. [515] of this city. As you have not changed the method of treatment in her case I take it for granted your suggestions have been followed in a rightful manner in our office. In order to keep the patients’ faith in this system (and that is not an easy matter with this or any other plan) we must not confuse her relative to this last reading. For instance, the periods of distress in the respiratory system you mention do not occur. I have explained to her the real meaning of this paragraph - that there was really some inflammation in the lung area which no doubt showed in your reading. There was evidently some distress at times, she is highly nervous, and has every occasion to be so. Instead of gaining weight she has lost from 3 to 5 pounds since starting her treatments under the new system. She has visited her physician who advises her to discontinue the cabinet baths for a while, thinking that might be the cause. Therefore her treatment Friday was without the bath, but otherwise followed the same as formerly. My system of treatment is usually that of three times each week for most cases. Do you think it would be excessive in her case? About the hot oil - how often would you suggest this be done? We have talked it over, and our ultimatum was the three visits each week which would include bath, treatment, oil massage, spinal work and thermo lamp. However, we are waiting your approval. I will not continue her treatment until we have final instruction from your office. Please know this office is vitally interested in this particular case…”
R2. 5/28/34 Letter from [515] to EC: ”…I have not written as I wanted to be sure of something definite to tell you, but as yet there is no noticeable trend in either direction.
“I am using the myrrh and olive oil rub every night; get naprapath treatments from Dr. Kapple; taking the medicine and using the electric apparatus. I do, however, find it difficult to keep on the diet just as I ought and also I probably work harder than is good for me. Consequently, sometimes I sleep quite well and feel quite well, and then again I do not sleep at all and feel terrible.
“I am not discouraged (as yet) and from now on am going to try to do less and eat more nearly correct. My appetite is fine but have not gained an ounce and am always so tired.
“I thank you very much for your kindly interest and shall write you again in the near future, as I feel a recheck at this time would not be of much benefit…”
R3. 6/12/34 Letter from Dr. W. Lee Kapple to EC: ”…In answer to your letter of May 11, and relative to Mrs. [515], I have suggested to her that she has the check reading, and she will, but is waiting until she has something new or of interest to tell you - so she says. She has every confidence in your work, but is over anxious to see immediate results. Personally, I can see a gain in her direction, although of late she is not so well.
“I want you to know, however, she is getting the best at this office that I can put forth, both in advice and personal care. What I tell you in this letter must be held in strict confidence on your part. This patient has had a good many treatments at this office and will tell you every one of them has helped her; but she will wander about, trying this one and that one. One doctor of late built up the blood content for her, told her it was low in red corpuscle count. Now she is back with him in order to have the red cells broken down and replaced with white ones to combat a liver infection that he claims is causing her trouble. Such things as this are silly and a scheme to get her money - nothing else. You can see what I have to contend with in trying to keep her straight…”
R4. 9/4/34 Letter from Dr. W. Lee Kapple to EC: ”…Mrs. [515] has not Called of late, but we look for her again soon. Her condition will be unchanged after making the rounds, and she will say, ‘Nothing ever does me any good’…”
R5. 9/21/34 Letter from Dr. W. Lee Kapple to EC: ”…I am deeply interested in your work for the simple reason that you have made two diagnoses that were exact - or I might say analogous to my own spinal finding in these [515] and [567] patients…”
