This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the aunt, Miss [1747], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born August 21, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio. Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ohio.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [5153].

3. In giving an interpretation of the records here, much rests with the parents as to how complete the entity may fit itself for its abilities and urges latent and manifested in this experience. These as characteristics will be seen with the entity:

4. One always wanting to fix something, not matter what.

5. The entity is always inclined to want to make something which would be an improvement.

6. Thus, we will find the entity a scientific genius if the opportunities for self-expression are given full opportunity in this experience.

7. Those things which would pertain to the study of mind, as well as that which would be applied in making improvement upon things, either electrically-driven or as to improvements or corrections in collecting of data, collecting of interesting experiences of or with individuals.

8. Thus there is the bringing to the entity of a tendency to be rather too much inclined to be sober and sarcastic. And this may not turn out so well unless there is given the entity such opportunities to improve the mind, or to study law as pertaining to conditions or things; not so much having to do with material happenings as with the arbitrary expression from spiritual attributes of individuals.

9. Before this we find the entity was among those who improved the city or the activities in the place of the entity’s first awareness or consciousness in the present. And we may find in those environs the channels through which the entity may analyze or study those things necessary for setting the entity for the inventive turn, as well as for the converts of those things which pertain to mental and spiritual things only.

10. Then we find the name was Tom Ccoullough. In the experience the entity gained by aiding in the preparation of things pertaining to mechanical appliances which would be labor-saving to man.

11. Before that we find the entity was in those periods when there was rebellion from activities in the English land owing to the position of the King and the common peoples.

12. The entity aided in arousing peoples who would follow closely in the line of those who set about making rules and regulations which would pertain to the individuals and which might be applicable also in groups and masses.

13. Before that we find the entity was in the Holy Land when there were those preparations made for the ministering to the Saints in the various isles to which the Disciples were sent, as well as the peoples who were in authority in the early church.

14. The entity aided in preparing ways and means through which individuals would be privileged to follow out, or follow through with their purposes and ideals, in preparing ships which were to be used in the service of those tenets held by the entity.

15. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Holy Land when the peoples journeyed from Egypt to the Holy Land.

16. The entity was among those who aided some of the sons or children of Dan to prepare the mechanical things for the carrying of the tables, the altar, candlesticks, and those things which were to be used by other individuals.

17. The entity was then in the name Eijalu. In the experience the entity gained the more, and with the application of self came knowledge and power within self to control influences about the entity.

18. As to the abilities of the entity, then, as indicated, much depends upon how and where and when those who are responsible for the entity prepare the ways and the means for the entity to apply the abilities which are latent and manifested.

19. Ready for questions.

20. (Q) What must be guarded against? (A) As to the losing hold upon the spiritual aspect of the studies.

21. (Q) What have been the past relationships with members of the immediate family, and what may they do to enrich his life and all those with whom he comes in contact: First, his father [2206]? (A) As has been indicated, the parents should make themselves responsible for the administering to the needs of the entity that which will enable him to become a scientist. The entity was related to the father in the experiences in the Egyptian land.

22. (Q) His mother? (A) In the experiences just before this.

23. (Q) His aunt, [1747]? (A) In the periods in the Egyptian land as well as in the other experiences of the entity.

R1. 10/22/49 Aunt’s reply to questionnaire: “Although the grandmother and parents have read this Reading, they aren’t interested. He is being given church training, also music. As soon as possible, I am going to give it to him [5153] to read…”

R4. 5/14/52 Aunt’s reply to questionnaire: “He is a very quiet boy, really too sober-minded. He can fix things, make improvements, but I have not noticed that he goes out of his way to do so. His father and mother are quite active in the Methodist Church, and they take him along with them. My nephew [5153] told me of an incident regarding some work, where 2 or 3 boys had to take turns. His turn came last and was difficult, so he figured out an easy way. The other boys ‘jumped’ him for not telling them how to go about it the easy way, and he replied: ‘I never thought of it until it was my turn.’ Another incident that comes to mind is the following: When he was 6 years old, he set a rabbit trap, and put a carrot inside for bait. Nothing happened. Later, when his mother inspected the trap, she saw an onion and a carrot, and she asked him about it. He said: “Well, the rabbit could smell the onion, and seeing the carrot he would investigate; then I would have him.’ I cannot reply to the other questions with regard to his attitude to electricity, a tendency toward sarcasm, arbitrary attitude to spiritual attributes of others, etc. Perhaps later, I can add more to this.

R5. 6/31/52 Aunt’s verbal report to IMG: “He does not like to do hard work, never seems to move until a problem is presented, and then the ‘short-cut solution’ comes to him; reads continuously; seems to be looking for explanations and answers. I have very little opportunity to guide him, since his mother opposes anything that is not orthodox. His father doesn’t care much one way or the other whether I talk with him along the lines of his reading. I do think that his mother is loosening up some, and as time goes on, I hope to have the chance to direct him according to his Life Reading. I have not yet noticed whether he has inclinations toward ‘electrically-driven things or collecting data of interesting experiences of or with individuals.’ At this time, he is interested in astronomy. He has an asthmatic condition, which is like a repression. I have never heard him make sarcastic remarks, but I have felt it in his attitude. He is such a quiet boy; however, during the little contact I have had with him, I’ve noticed that he must be pushed constantly to keep going. He seems to stand aside and watches others, questioning why they are doing things in that particular way.

You can only force him so far - he just won’t be driven. I haven’t noticed, as yet, his being arbitrary with respect to the ‘spiritual attributes of others.’ He has an excellent ear for sounds. Some sounds which would not bother the average person, hurt his ears. Sometimes his mother’s singing bothers his ears - in fact hurts them. It seems to me that he is exposed to good religious training, since his father teaches in Sunday School, and his mother sings in the choir.”
