This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at 1867 Kalorama Road, Washington, D. C., this 21st day of February, 1935, in accordance with request made by the son, Mr. [309], for his mother, Mrs. [522], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Lillian B. Whitmore and J. Howard Lawler.]
Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes - [522]. As we find, those conditions that disturb and bring about distresses are from accumulations of sedimentary forces produced by the character of administrations that have been given the body from time to time. These produce a congesting condition in the functioning of the eliminating system, as do any drugs that make for an affecting of the nerve reactions in the circulatory forces of the body.
-
There are accumulations in the liver and gall duct area especially, and the poisons from the system generally from toxic forces have contributed to the condition. And if these continue to contribute, unless there are the measures used either to empty the gall duct or to cause the solving, they will necessarily require operative forces to remove same. This, as we find, may be done by the gall duct pump, or they may be solved by the application of heat as from oil - such as the oil packs over the area, for sufficient time to make for the enlarging by relaxing of the duct area itself; making through absorption that necessary, as with a purgative such as from a quantity of the Castor Oil internally - hot; with the properties that would make for the engorging or the expanding of that particular area with the system’s activity. Thus we may EMPTY the sediments that form there. These are only as sediments, or gravel, as yet; but they produce an irritation and prevent the natural secretions and activities for the digestive system, causing excruciating pain and making for those conditions that are very detrimental to the body.
-
In either of these ways, or that which would be chosen, we would empty same; which would be PREFERABLE to operative measures in the present, as we find.
-
Then, if the hot oil method is chosen, we would begin with the hot Castor Oil packs and keep them constantly on the body for three days - or in periods of twenty-four hours, as hot as they can be kept on the body, over the liver and gall duct area.
-
At the end of the three days, begin taking the hot Castor Oil internally; two to three tablespoonsful, twice or three times.
-
(Q) Is the neuritis caused by a dead tooth? (A) As has been indicated, this was caused from a condition in the teeth, as well as a general condition in the gall duct area. And, naturally, the condition or the change in the activities - as indicated has its bearing upon the nervous forces in the body itself.
-
(Q) Any other advice for the body at this time? (A) These we would do for these conditions; either the drainages by the pump, as indicated, or the Castor Oil externally and internally - which will clear the system the more thoroughly; and keep away from the use of all the “ols” [“oils”?] that have been given!

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/19/35 “I surely do appreciate the rdg. I have been getting along fine until about ten days ago when I had two spells one right after the other. My x-rays didn’t show any gallstones. However, Dr. Woodruff [Gerald Woodruff, M.D.] said if they were small they wouldn’t, so I am to have some more made taking some kind of fluid beforehand. I only weigh 107 lbs. Dr. Woodruff said he believed my trouble is due to the awful shock of my husband’s sudden death. He has me on Caroid Bile Salts and I have been feeling better, so surely hope they are going to help me. I have been taking plenty of oil, so hope I will soon get straightened out.”
R2. 4/26/35 EC’s letter: “I fought that gall bladder trouble myself for almost a whole year before I got rid of it. I don’t know of but one case, [522], that has tried the Castor Oil Packs that hasn’t gotten marvelous results. That, you know, is what they used for Mr. [1103]. I have just had a report from a doctor in St. Paul who tried it on a patient in the hospital there with fine results, as well as one in Washington recently. Do hope you make it alright.”
R3. 8/18/36 “We all went out for 5 days to Camp…with some friends and while out there I had my first chill since last summer, so I am just getting over a good spell of malaria.”
R4. 6/44 Mrs. [522] remarried.
R5. 12/8/44 She wrote of how happy she was in her marriage: “If I had looked the world over I couldn’t have found anyone that could be any better to me than he is. I am really a lady of leisure these days, don’t do anything but keep house and I assure you that I am enjoying a home of my own again. He is very religious and always says that God had a hand in bringing us together. I don’t know what I would do without him now with all my boys in the service and sister [4809] gone.”
R6. 6/58 Niece [852]‘s letter: “Aunt [522] has aged very little, with the exception that her lovely auburn hair is now the prettiest white.”
R7. 3/25/66 Son [1715]‘s letter: “Mother is still living in …, Ala.”

B2. 2/12/35 Son [309]‘s letter: “For the last 3 wks. she has been having attacks which the doctors say are due to gallstones in her gall bladder; she can only get relief with a hypo - doctors say surgery. Is this necessary? If so, who should perform it? Is this causing the nervous indigestion with which she suffers so frequently? Is the neuritis in her shoulder (or arm) caused by a dead tooth? We will wait to hear from you before doing anything toward correcting the trouble.”
