This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 23rd day of February, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [522], new Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [538].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, L. B. and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mo. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [522]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, some conditions in the general physical forces are better; others are not so well. The tendency for poor eliminations, and the toxic forces, with the balances in the system being such as to make for a deep or internal circulation to be the stronger, causes effects that are not good in the system; while the general health in many ways is very good.
-
The addition of certain elements in the body, as we find, would make for activities in such ways and manners as to bring about better conditions.
-
First we would begin with small quantities of Atomidine taken internally. Begin with one drop in half a glass of water twice each day. Every other day increase the amount one drop, until five drops are being taken twice each day. This will produce in the circulation activities in the assimilations that will aid in producing a better elimination through activities of all the glands of the body. When five drops are being taken twice each day, take this only two days, see (that is, the five drops); and then leave off for a period of five or six days. Then begin again with the one drop each day, increasing only every other day; or two days one drop, two days two drops, two days three drops, and so on.
-
For those conditions where there has been the tendency for the clogging in the mammary glands, and those that lead to same, the Atomidine will enable all the glands to function the more properly, see - but for this in the right area about those glands that come under the arm to the right breast, massage these and the breast also with a compound prepared with one grain of Carbon Ash MIXED THOROUGHLY in one ounce of Iodex. This we would do about every other day. Not such a massage as to produce irritation, and only use sufficient of the compound that will be absorbed by the body.
-
When this is massaged in thoroughly, there will be a tendency for the dross or for the Ash to make for a refuse; but it would be well for this portion that is massaged to be covered for a period of absorption (which would be at least two or three hours, or for a period of a day, you see) with gauze, that the body may have the advantage of that emanation from the Carbon externally in the body.
-
In those periods when the Atomidine is not being taken each day, when ready for retiring, take one-eighth grain of the Ash internally, see? This should not be taken in capsule, but loosened on tongue and washed down with water.
-
It would be well that five to fifteen minutes after the Ash is taken there be applied the violet ray for three to five minutes over those portions of the spine, and those portions OPPOSITE the glands and ducts to the breast.
-
It may be expected that after using this some weeks there will be caused a gradual drying of the tissue ABOUT the breast, and make same smaller; for this will dry those tendencies for the accumulations that have been unremoved by the general circulation and general disorders in the system from poor elimination.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the condition of the back now? (A) This is a great deal better, though - as has been indicated - the conditions in back and in arms and in limbs are effects, not causes of conditions - but are the effects of poor eliminations through the general system.
-
(Q) Should the manipulations be continued? (A) They may be given occasionally, but it would be for the general condition rather than for that disturbing the body.
Be mindful that the body is kept more alkalin; that is, the food values. Not fried foods, but rather those that are alkalin reacting in the system. Not too much starch, not too much meats, but those foods that produce a better balance in the body.
- We are through with this reading.

R1. 2/24/34 Letter:
Dear Mrs. [522]:-
We are sending a dollar bottle of the Atomidine from here, as you may not be able to get it in St. Louis.
The Carbon Ash is manufactured by B. H. Bradley, 5443 Maryland Ave., Chicago, Ill. I quote from a letter Mr. Bradley wrote to a customer recently: [Major [432] 11/13/33.]
“Your favor of the 11th received. Under separate cover the ‘Carbon Ash’ is being forwarded. Am glad you have come in contact with Mr. Cayce whose work has been so remarkable. Concerning the ‘Ash’ the study is a long one. It required months of work and several readings before we could arrive at the final product. You are correct that the name ‘Carbon Ash’ is not correctly descriptive, but no short name could cover the situation. The product is secured by taking bamboo fibre and partially burning it by passing a powerful electric arc through it in a chamber enclosed 83% 00 specified by the readings - evidently to secure partial combustion. The resulting powder contains no elements except those remains after the partial combustion of the bamboo. However, the powder has taken on a photogenic or similar vibratory power. Have secured from it a visible reaction on photographic film. Chemically it is inactive. Its value lies evidently in vibration in manner similar to the activated foods being produced by German Scientists. There is no secret in the composition or method of production. The price of $1.00 for 20 - 1/4 grain capsules was established for the purpose of recovering the expense of equipment required. This price will be reduced shortly.”
You may already know what an alkalin reacting diet would be. The following list might help, as it seems your principal diet should consist of these: [From “Scientific Weight Control booklet”]
All fruits, fresh and dried, except large prunes, plums and cranberries.
Limes Dates Apples Oranges Apricots Small Sun Dried Peaches Grapefruit Raisins Prunes Pears Lemons Figs (unsulphured) Honey Pineapples
All vegetables, fresh and dehydrated, except legumes, (dried peas, beans and lentils) rhubarb.
Rutabaga Spinach Onions Turnips Radish Asparagus Green Peas String Beans Lettuce Beets Celery Oyster Plant Tomatoes Cabbage Carrots Egg Plant Parsnips Cauliflower Kohlrabi
MILK
All forms, buttermilk, clabber, sour milk, Cottage cheese, cheese.
No doubt you have a violet ray hand machine, or may get one from an electrical or drug supply house.
Sincerely, Gladys Davis (signature) Secretary to Mr. Cayce
R2. 3/2/34 “I appreciate my rdg. and shall stick to it like a sick cat to a hot brick. I have all the confidence in the world in your rdgs. and know I shall get alright… [She requested a physical rdg. for husband, Mr. [2698], but later cancelled since he was travelling and could not keep the appointment.] [12/2/39 Her husband Mr. [2698], died suddenly with a heart attack.] I would like to have your prayers and would like to take part in the prayer circle, for I can certainly do that much, and I am very interested in your work and want to keep in closer touch with it.”
R3. 3/29/34 GD’s ltr.: We are so glad that you want to join our prayer group, The Glad Helpers, for we believe in the power of prayer when those praying are sincere and their lives are in accordance with that being sought.
On the back of our February 1933 Bulletin there is a short article on the Glad Helpers, giving our purpose, etc. We hold the following periods of meditation each day: 7:00 to 7:15 A. M.; 11:30 to 12:00 Noon; 5:45 to 6:00 P.M. For each period there is a different prayer list; that is, individuals for whom we pray. You could observe either or all of these periods, suiting your own convenience. Also, you could hold our prayer list that we might send you or you could hold the Glad Helpers’ prayer list as a whole, adding any names which you might like - also sending us any you would like for us to hold in meditation. Every two weeks we send out a Cooperative Report blank, as per the enclosed, to each one on the prayer list, together with a new affirmation or payer to be held by the individual in cooperation with the Glad Helpers.
I am asking Miss Edmonds to send to you a few of the Cooperative blanks which we use for individuals who first intimate their desire to be placed on the prayer list. In this way we keep an accurate record of those desiring aid through such a channel, and follow up with the other Cooperative Report blank in two weeks.
As you know, we are organized and functioning according to reading suggestions; so we hope that we have been and may be of great help to many - in His name.
In each month’s Bulletin you will see the affirmations to be used for that month, two weeks each. Also Miss Edmonds will mail to you each two weeks the little prayer on a card, and any other information which you might like to have as time goes on.
Appreciating your desire to join with us in praying for those who seek through this channel, and with love to you all, I am

R4. 6/4/34 “I am feeling fine these days and my trouble hasn’t bothered me in quite a while, and am getting as fat as a pig and losing my girlish figure.”
R5. 12/15/34 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [522], who had returned to Ala. to live with her elderly mother and a sister, with her three sons: “You will by this time be getting back to… I am sure that everyone there will welcome you with open arms, yet there will be a void that will not and cannot be satisfied. It is hard to understand just why such things had to be, but we cannot see into the future, cannot know what is in store for us. I am sure at times when you review the past or the years since you left home and now return with so many hopes and so many aspirations all turned awry, you will think of it all with a wonderment of what it has all meant.
“You know that I had the privilege and opportunity of being with [2698] a great deal during the years of his formative life, and I came to love him for what he was, and you know that we love you and the boys just as we loved him. I know that you will have your own loved ones about you, but we want you to remember us and know that we are thinking of you and have the interest of you and the boys at heart, and are more than willing to do anything that may be possible to help. I feel that it may be possible, if you would care for me to, at some time through some of the connections that I have made to be of a real help to the boys in their aspirations and their work, and I am in hopes that you won’t hesitate to let me know and to write me at any time, and I want you, as well as the boys, to be with us whenever you can and as often as you can.
“I know how hard so many things will be and how strange everything will be for a long while, but we can only use the life that we have seen pass as an example and keep our heads up, pressing on and using our own experiences for a helpfulness to those we meet, for it is by such that we are told by the Master Himself that we are to be judged in the hereafter - as to what we did about and with the opportunities that were ours to be helpful to our fellow man in every walk of life, and just as we had the example of [2698], as to how helpful he was to others; how he gave of his own strength and his own anxiety often; oftentimes making so much sacrifice of himself and those dependent upon him to give for others, yet I am sure that each and every one of his boys have a heritage in the example he set that will be very much worth while to them.”
R6. 1/11/35 “I have read your letter over and over again, and with each reading I find new comfort in your tender sympathy so beautifully expressed. No one knows better than I how true are the words you wrote of dear [2698], yet it is good to have you express such appreciation of his many high and noble qualities. It is hard for me not to wonder why such a person should be taken in the prime of manhood but I have implicit faith, knowing that God never makes a mistake and some day I shall understand. I am trying to carry on as I think [2698] would want me to. I am praying each night for strength and guidance and feel that God is very near me and is giving me strength whenever I most need it.
I really don’t know what I would do without my boys who are already doing what they can to measure up to their new responsibilities, and I am sure they will prove a never failing comfort to me…
I haven’t been a bit well recently. Brother [[…] M.D.] checked me over and found my blood pressure too low, but otherwise alright, and he said he felt sure when he built me up I would feel much better.”
R7. 2/12/35 Son [309] wrote for Ck. Physical saying his mother had what the doctors called gallstones.
