EC: Yes, we have the body here, [538]; this we have had before.

As we find, while there is local irritation and the natural effects - after effects of cold, congestion, or flu or grippe, the mucous membranes of the throat and the bronchi and larynx show a great disturbance.

There should be at least one or two good general osteopathic manipulations to break up those congestions in the segment areas along the upper dorsal and throughout the cervical area and head.

Then, as an allaying for this irritation to the mucous membranes, as the congestion will be somewhat relieved by a released circulation and better conditions from the manipulations, make not so much an expectorant as a cough syrup - in this manner:

To 1 ounce Compound Simple Syrup, add:
Syrup of Horehound…1/2 ounce, Syrup of Senna…1/4 ounce, Chloroform…5 minims, Syrup of Squill…1/4 ounce, Grain Alcohol…1/2 ounce.

Shake well before the dosage is taken, which would be about three-quarters to a teaspoonful, and this only when there are the irritations or the coughs.

(A) More from the poisons, and the general manipulations will relax the circulation so as to take away those tendencies for accumulations from poor circulation. Of course, strain adds only to it; just as portions of the abdominal muscles become naturally sore from so much irritation by coughing, just below the diaphragm.
Do these as has been given, and we will find the better conditions for this body.
