This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of September, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [540], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading … Ave., 12:00 to 12:10 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia. (With special reference to relief of suffering and method of treatment for correction of abnormal conditions.)

1. EC: Yes - we have the body, [540]; this we have had before.

2. As we find in the present, the acute disturbance arises from sediments in the kidneys themselves. And without relief of same, and if pus arises, these as we find will require operative measures that are not easy to deal with.

3. These as we find produce a condition where sedimentary forces are attempting to pass through the tubes to the bladder. These are not large, but the irritation that arises is from not too good a care taken as to the kidneys and the eliminations from same during period of pregnancy and following the delivery.

4. The manipulative forces osteopathically given should be not too severely given over the areas WHERE the disturbance is, or we may produce GREATER disturbance in the form of irritation. But give them GENTLY over the upper dorsal, through the cervical, and GENTLY over those areas below the diaphragm or 9th dorsal.

5. Over the kidney area we would apply Turpentine Stupes. This does not mean sprinkling a cloth with turpentine. Dip a cloth - toweling, not flannel - in a diluted solution, of course (as hot as the body can stand - though full strength would be TOO severe!) about two ounces in a quart of water - and apply over the area. The Stupes should not be allowed to stay on too long, as to blister.

6. Then, after taking off the Stupes, massage the abdomen, and especially close to the pubic bone - the lower abdomen and over the upper portion towards both the right and the left ovary, you see - with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Camphor. Put these preferably on a heavy flannel - warm, not too hot - and lay over the area.

7. This may be done two to three times a day; and we will find this will lighten the condition.

8. As to the diet: Here we would take those things easily assimilated.

9. About the second day after the use of the Stupes and the Pads, we would - under the direction of a physician take Sweet Spirits of Nitre. Under the conditions, the dose for this body would be about eight drops in a glass of water. This will tend to CLEAR and purify the activity of the kidneys and assist in ELIMINATING same.

10. Do that.
