This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of June, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [5459].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce and Dr. Thos. B. House.]
Time of Reading 4:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [5459], of … New York, N.Y., and you will answer the questions which I shall ask you regarding conditions for this body’s physical, mental and spiritual betterment.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [5459]. This we have had before. The conditions as surround this body in many ways are satisfactory to a point. There are others existent that are partially of own creation, through the imaginations of the body, and the association of elements for correction that are abhorrent in part to the nominal activities of the body. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How can I be relieved of the head noise which appears to be in the region of the inner ear (left)? (A) By consistent application of those treatments as have been outlined for the body for the removal of same. The osteopathic and the vibratory forces as will be set by the proper application of the radio-active forces. In the condition existent, this is as has been given, the lack of proper coordination between the sensory and the cerebro-spinal system, and the vibratory force as set is that of a sympathetic nature. Do, then, as has been given - consistently, persistently - and with the certain knowledge that PROPERLY handled, the condition must adjust itself.
-
(Q) How can I overcome the depression spells to which I am subject, owing to the troublesome head noises? (A) This is of the own creation, and to overcome such, one fills one’s own mental activities and proclivities with those things that are more pleasant, or more pleasing to the ideas and ideals of self. Just be consistent.
-
(Q) How can I overcome constipation? (A) The activities of the body are such that the inclinations are towards that of non-attention of the needs of the body. With the diet changed in an orderly way and manner, and with the proper assimilation of foods (as will be brought about by the manipulations, as given for the correction of other condition), and the added force as is necessary to bring nominal conditions in this direction, this will be brought in the system. Do that.
-
(Q) How can I overcome the fears that beset me, especially about myself and my wife? (A) Fear is the root of most of the ills of mankind, whether of self, or of what others think of self, or what self will appear to others. To overcome fear is to fill the mental, spiritual being, with that which wholly casts out fear; that is, as the love that is manifest in the world through Him who gave Himself as a ransom for many. Such love, such faith, such understanding, casts out fear. Be ye not fearful; for that thou sowest, that thou must reap. Be more mindful of that sown.
-
(Q) What change should I make in my present habits? (A) That is within the individual self. That necessary to make one’s self wholly in accord with that known by self to be the correct attitude toward self, family, neighbor, associates - social and business - and keep self unspotted from censure by the own conscience.
-
(Q) Should I take electric treatments by Mr. Woodruff [Ph.T.?] at New Hyde Park, L.I., and board nearby for that purpose, having 3 treatments a week? (A) These will not hinder, nor materially aid. Then act according to the dictates to own conscience. As for the corrections and as for the conditions, these have been outlined. Would the proper conditions be brought about, and if the mental elements can be brought into the attitude wherein it is known within self that these, if properly applied, will bring the correction, then do THOSE; otherwise forget it! We are through.

R1. 6/22/28 EC’s letter to [5459]:
My dear Mr. [5459]:
The information gotten in your reading has been mailed to you. I wish I could sit down and talk with you in person concerning this. I really believe, if you would get - or could get - the proper consciousness of what is meant, that you will get the results desired, by consistently and persistently carrying out the suggestions made. Not all your questions were answered. If you feel it’s necessary, and you would like to have a definite decisive answer about them, we will make another appointment and get these at a subsequent reading. However, for the purely physical, as you will see, it insists that the suggestions as were made (the osteopathic treatments, as I understand, and the radio-active appliance), if properly applied, will bring results; and with this condition improved, everything else will adjust itself, and especially so if you get yourself in that attitude of mind where you are not censuring your own self for things that come about.
I shall be very pleased to hear from you concerning this, for I assure you it is my desire to be of help if possible.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

R2. 6/25/28 [5459]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I received the reading given me on Friday, June 22nd,; also your letter of the same date for which I thank you. You have expressed the thought that I agree with entirely - that we could have had a talk together in person.
It is unnecessary to give me another reading for the questions which were unanswered as, no doubt, some of them appear to you to be inconsequential, so pass them by. The proper consciousness you speak of, I think is understandable by me as I followed out the suggestions in the former reading and results were not beneficial. Perhaps I should have continued using the radio appliance longer than I did, but most certainly, Dr. Krauss was not in sympathy - at least my spirit felt that way. However, you have given me the name of another osteopath whom you evidently think well of and I shall see him. In the meantime, and before I write to Mr. Brown, is it your wish that I get from him the same appliance as I had previously and use it as before together with the vibrator which I understand can be purchased in the local stores?
I realize more and more the attitude of mind that you stress but I do not quite get what you mean by “self censure”. I have endeavored to do my work in the same way as I have always done it, but at the same time business conditions do worry me and it is that fear which I am trying to overcome. It is a beautiful thought to take ones self in accord with the scripture teaching by adopting the proper attitude towards self and everyone else by applying the golden rule, but it is very, very difficult at times. I realize, of course, that I have many blessings in this world which I strive to bring constantly into my mind to offset the distress which I feel. I claim to be intelligent and to tackle problems in a consecutive way but it seems impossible for me to shake off the feeling that I shall never be rid of the trouble which besets me. That is not the proper way to feel - I quite understand that - but when the situation is there and you are trying your best to control and forget it and you are still fully conscious of it, what can a man do?
Sincerely yours, [5459] GS/HS
Thank you kindly for your earnest effort.
R3. 6/29/28 EC’s letter to [5459]:
Dear Mr. [5459]
Have yours of the 25th. Certainly would like to talk with you concerning the information given in your reading. Just as I said when talking to you in person, the matters that are presented through this source are so very personal, we CANNOT sit down and WRITE about them. We can sit and TALK to a person about them, for there is a vast difference - but I’m hoping you will gain sufficient from that given to apply it in yourself, and thus bring about the correction of those physical conditions in such a way that the whole body
- mental and physical, and spiritual - will be set in a different attitude.
Yes, I would go to the osteopath. I would also write Mr. Brown about the appliance, and I would keep - as it were - everlastingly AT IT until you GET RESULTS; for if you are going to do it half-heartedly, trying it one day and the next thinking, “Oh, well, it won’t hurt to leave it off just this once,” and then after three or four days thinking it’s not doing any good - then there’s no use in commencing.
Self censure, as I understand it, Mr. [5459], means that you continue to dissatisfy yourself with your own actions. You continue to wish that you had done the other way from the way that you did do; or you continue to censure yourself or others - for self-censure may be applied to the other fellow just as same as to your own self!
In the next few weeks we will be able to make another appointment for you. If there are other questions you want answered, it would be well to get them to-gether and let us know, and we will see what we can do.
We are starting with our work on the institution, and we are needing all the help - prayerfully, morally and financially
- that it is possible for us to get. The work is going forward. It can ONLY go forward through the assistance of those we try to help.
Let us hear from you whenever possible. Make it a point to come in and SEE us. It would do you good, and I’m sure it would do US good.
With kindest personal regards,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

R4. 10/18/28 EC’s letter to [5459]:
Dear Mr. [5459]:
There will be special cars coming to Virginia Beach for November 11th, when we will have the dedicatory service for the Hospital. You have been promising yourself, and me, that you were coming some of these days. Won’t you get in touch with Mr. Blumenthal - Trafalgar 5416 - or Mr. Kahn, Riverside 3146 - and make arrangements to be here at that time? I’m sure you will find the time well spent.
Expecting you, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R5. 10/26/28 [5459]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
I thank you cordially for your invitation to Virginia Beach on November 11th and I only wish I were in a position to do so. You have my best wishes for your success and I am sure the noble work you are doing is appreciated by all who know you.
I am afraid that my visit will not be until the hospital is built because I could probably make arrangements to come down for treatment. My physical condition is about the same although I believe my mental attitude is brighter. At times it seems as though everything is against me but another day comes with encouraging thoughts which urge me to look forward to the time when I shall be cured.
It is very kind of you to keep in touch with me, and some day, I do not know when, I trust to send you a little help in a more practical way.
Very truly yours, [5459]
