This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of December, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - [5459].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [5459], in his office at … Street, N.Y. City. You will answer the questions which I shall ask you regarding the business relations and the health of this body.
-
EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [5459]. This we have had here before.
-
In the physical forces of the body, these we find somewhat improved from that we have had here before. Still there are those conditions that cause distresses, and these are produced through those conditions as have been outlined for the body. These we find would respond to those vibrations as have been given regarding the manipulations or the vibratory forces from the electrically driven vibrator, with the application of vibrations from the Radio-Active Appliance. These would bring better coordination between the sympathetic and the cerebro-spinal and sensory system, for these conditions are much of the psychic force in the body, or of a psychic condition, and may be reached through that of the vibratory forces as are set in system through the various elements or centers where coordination is brought about between the various nervous systems of the body; for each system vibrates as a unit, but must vibrate in unison, else we have those conditions that produce that as is seen in the physical forces of the body - especially in the sensory system and in this to the ear and to the nostril. Do that and we would bring better conditions for the body. Were the vibratory forces from the electrically driven vibrator used, apply same each day - and the Radio-Active Forces, use those each evening. Preferably the vibratory forces in morning and the Radio-Active Forces in evening as the body rests. Well were these applied (Radio-Active Forces) one to the ankle, the other to the wrist - or BOTH may be applied to the wrists, were the feet set in warm water for an hour - these attached to the wrist during this period, see? Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is the anxiety over the firm’s dull times as much responsible for my head noises as anything else? (A) This a portion of the cause, but that of the psycho condition in the body - or the general trend of the whole system in itself, and the responses as come to the system from the outside influences assist. Not the whole cause.
-
(Q) What can I do to remove the buzz in my head (left side - inner ear)? (A) That as given.
-
(Q) What can I do to conquer the depression spells to which I am subject? (A) Fill the mind with other conditions, and by filling the mind with other conditions these will be overcome.
-
(Q) What form of exercise do you suggest to improve my physical condition? (A) WALKING would be the better exercise for the body. Brisk walking soon of mornings - these would be best.
-
(Q) I hold a little Standard Oil Co. (New Jersey) common stock, Standard Oil (Indiana) common stock, Julius Kayser common stock, U.S. Steel common stock, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. preferred. Are these SAFE stocks to HOLD? (A) As investments they are safe stocks to hold. As speculative, not so good as others that might be - but as for the investments as held by the body, these are very good, and safe.
-
(Q) Should I sell any or all of them? (A) Use own discretion as regarding these conditions. Dependent upon what would be the change in the investments in same.
-
(Q) Is there any particular stock I should buy? (A) As investments, as we would find, there are two particular stocks that would be well to invest in. Those of Southern Railway, or those of ANY of the chain stores - especially Woolworth or Kresge.
-
(Q) Is the party I should see in Europe returning to the United States in the Spring? (A) We don’t find them so.
-
(Q) Should I make this trip to Europe on my firm’s business? (A) This would be very well, though we find in other changes coming about such a trip might not be necessary; yet, should the circumstances arise that should make this imperative, then do so.
-
(Q) Would it be wise for me to be transferred to the Los Angeles Branch? or would it jeopardize the opportunity there is here for me with the parent house in New York? (A) Either of these would not jeopardize the advancement - for, as has been set, the entity is the logical one for an advancement, or for the representative of the company in other branches of the business. So, that as is for the best to the entity is to act in the way and manner as to merit those conditions. This the seat, the cause, of the general worry as experienced by the body. Let the actions of the body towards self, physical, mental and material, be in the way and manner of meriting by action done, rather than of policy or politic manner to bring pull toward other conditions for self than that merited by action done. Acting in this way and manner will bring better conditions for the body, [5459], physical, mental and financial. Keep thine own self from condemning in others that thou doest in thine own mind or heart, for that one sows in in the mind is reaped in the action of another toward self; or self measures self by the action of self’s mind builded toward that of another. So make thine own paths straight. Keep thine self in the manner of bringing good to self in the mental, in the physical and the financial - for these must be as outcomes, not as first purpose.
-
We are through.

R1. 1/4/28 [5459]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, 115 W. 35th St., Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
The reading you gave me on the 28th of December reached me on Saturday morning December 31st and the reason acknowledgment was not made earlier was there was a little slip in the envelope which indicated that you were writing me, so I deferred my answer.
The information you have given is very thorough and complete and I realize you have gone to a great deal of thought and preparation in order to help me. My sincere thanks are yours as with your advice I hope to benefit very much from now on.
I am not familiar with the electrically driven vibrators or the radio active appliance and require further information. Can the instruments be purchased and the current applied by myself or would it be necessary to go to a physician who applies electric to the body? There may be instruments that you could recommend and where they could be purchased but if you simply outlined what was in your mind and are leaving it to me to solve that problem I will certainly abide by your suggestion. If I have to see a physician I certainly hope it will be someone in sympathy with my case. You and I both agreed that the osteopaths do not follow out the suggestions as completely as they should according to past experience.
Again thanking you and later on I hope to show my gratitude in a more substantial form.
Very truly yours, [5459]
R2. 1/4/28 EC’s letter to Mr. [5459]:
Dear Mr. [5459]:
I didn’t have an opportunity to write you when the reading was sent. I’m in hopes though that you have been able and will be able to use same to good advantage, both as respecting your physical health and material conditions.
For your convenience and information, I am enclosing an envelope addressed to the man from whom you will be able to obtain the Radio-Active Appliance. This is one of the appliances that has been given in the readings only, and has been developed by Mr. Brown. The first one of these was given through a reading for Mr. Brown himself.
I shall be glad to hear from you from time to time, and am in hopes that I will have the opportunity to talk with you many more times personally.
Hoping to have been of service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R3. 1/9/28 Mr. [5459]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
You suggested that I obtain an ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN VIBRATOR: The only thing that the largest electrical shops seem to have is:
WHITE CROSS MEDICAL BATTERY run by a “Bell” Battery of 1 1/2 voltage price $9.00
It is the machine used in this country 20 or 30 years ago - the current is transmitted into the body by means of two “handles” held in the hand - the current can be increased by means of a lever which has three positions -
Can this be what you have in mind?
It is NOT ELECTRICALLY connected -
Sorry to trouble you - but if this should happen not to be what you mean - might I ask you to be good enough to advise me where I can purchase the apparatus that you did refer to?
Cordially, [5459]
P.S. Thanks for yours of the 4th. I have written to Mr. Brown re the Radio Active Apparatus.
R4. 1/16/28 EC’s letter to Mr. [5459]:
My dear Mr. [5459]:
Replying to yours of the 9th, it is my opinion that the electrically driven vibrator referred to in your reading is nearer the form of that as is used in barber shops or beauty parlors for a massage. However, these appliances have applicators that are used to treat the body. I should think you would be able to get one from any of the Liggett-Myer Drug Companies. I only know of one factory that makes these machines - The Hamilton-Beach Manufacturing Co., Racine, Wisconsin. I know these people make such a machine, as they presented me with one many years ago.
I am in hopes that you have heard from Mr. Brown before this, for I feel very sure that when you can get your treatments in the proper way you will see results.
I assure you it is our desire to be of help if possible, and we never find it too much trouble to try and be of service.
Thanking you and hoping this will get you straightened out real soon, with all good wishes, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R5. 4/2/28 [5429]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Assoc’n of Nat’l Investigators, Inc. Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce
I am very glad to note that the hospital in which you are interested is now built and ready for patients according to the circular received from you recently. For the present I will withhold any subscription but you can expect to hear from me later on.
Re my own personal condition, I regret to inform you that although my general health is good, the trouble in my head is about the same and I used the apparatus made by Thos. B. Brown faithfully but without result. I have in mind going to your hospital some day and in the meantime perhaps you would advise me what the terms are for board and treatment, as perhaps if I were in closer contact with you good people I would stand a much better chance of being healed.
Very truly yours, [5459]
R6. 4/6/28 EC’s ltr. to [5459]:
Mr. [5459] New York City
My dear Mr. [5459]
I have yours of the 2nd. I note what you say regarding your general health, also the head trouble. I don’t understand why you did not get results with the apparatus as suggested. Possibly there was some error in its application, or something of the kind. We’d be glad to check up on it at any time you see fit.
I notice also what you have to say about the institution.
It is NOT completed. I don’t just know how you got that impression, but we are getting ready to build, and hope to have it completed in the next few months. We are needing funds badly for the building program - that’s why our members have been appealing to those we have done work for, for assistance at this time. We shall appreciate any assistance you may be able to give us at any time you see fit.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R7. 4/11/28 [5459]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Answering yours of the 6th, I wish I could truthfully say that the apparatus had done me good because my condition is just the same as it was prior to the second reading which you so kindly gave me.
Mr. Brown gave me specific directions how to use the appliance which I carried out faithfully. It is most discouraging and if you care to give me another reading at convenience I will be thankful and later on perhaps I will show you my appreciation in a more substantial way. Hospital work appeals to me and I can realize just what it means in a financial way to make the necessary preparations for building the institution which I am sure will be successful.
Mr. Brown told me about ear massaging by Dr. Kraus, but, as you know, he treated me for sometime without result. Do you know of any other osteopath who specializes in such treatment whose fees are not unreasonable?
Sincerely yours, [5459]
R8. 5/4/28 EC’s letter to [5459]:
Mr. [5459] New York City
My dear Mr. [5459]
Have been a little under the weather myself for some weeks, or possibly would have seen you in person before this - as I had a call meeting in New York but owing to these conditions was unable to get there.
I note what you have to say regarding the appliance sent you by Mr. Brown. This is the first instance where this has occurred, or where people didn’t get results when they carried out the suggestions as they were given. Naturally, we would like to check up on it and see what’s the trouble, and will be glad to make as appointment if you would care to have it. Be sure and let me know.
Dr. Dan Morrison, 103 Park Avenue, has had several of the cases under observation that we have given work for. I don’t think he is as high-priced as Kraus. It might be very well for you to see him. Would suggest that you do that.
I thank you for your interest, Mr. [5459] and I’m in hopes you are going to have the opportunity to get down and see us sometime in the near future. I feel - when you see and understand what we are trying to do - you will be as enthusiastic as any of our friends about the work.
Hoping to hear from you, and with kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R9. 5/8/28 [5459]‘s letter to EC:
New York
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce
I welcome your letter of May 4th but sorry to hear you have been below par and maybe if you come to New York it would have done you a lot of good. In view of the fact that you have given me another reading without charge I certainly do not feel like asking you to give me another, but at the same time as you are interested in checking it up, you can make an appointment for me at convenience.
Lately, owing to certain financial expenditures, I have not been in a position to take care of things as I should but later on I hope to remember you and your association.
Referring to the appliance as recommended by Mr. Brown, I tried it faithfully; even went out in the country to rest but found no change in my condition. Perhaps I was hasty but after what I have gone through you really could not blame me. Thank you for furnishing the name of Dr. Morrison and I shall make it my business to see him someday.
I wish you all the luck in the world, and especially in your hospital work.
Very truly yours, [5459]
R10. 5/19/28 EC’s ltr. to [5459]:
Dear Mr. [5459]:
Replying to yours of the 8th - we have had another little delay in our appointment list, but I’m in hopes that nothing will prevent us from keeping this appointment that we are making for you. You will please note the date and the time, and remember we want the address at which you will be at the time set for the reading, and would like for you to make a list of questions. Suppose we take it entirely BY questions this time, and let’s see if we can understand why this hasn’t done what it should have done - whether the fault is with the appliance or the way it was applied. I don’t think we have ever had - in the years of experience with these appliances - where they were suggested, especially for such conditions as yours of similar ones - a case that didn’t get results by the use of same. I can’t understand it - that’s why I’m so anxious to check up on this.
We certainly are in hopes that when we get our institution under way you will drop in and see us. Unless we are fooling ourselves mighty badly, we are starting a work that will not only be national but international in its scope.
Hoping that we may be of service to you, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

B1. 12/23/27 [5459]‘s ltr. to EC:
Kindly send report to my private address … New York City.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I cannot tell you in words how pleased I am that you have consented to give me an appointment for a reading on the morning of Dec. 28 between the hours of ten and twelve o’clock: At that time I shall be in my office at … Street, New York City.
You have requested me to send questions together with this acknowledgment and as I am not clear in my mind as to what questions I am entitled to ask will you answer the following which deeply concern my future.
As you perhaps now realize - I have too little of this world’s goods to run any risk - I hold a little
Standard Oil Co (New Jersey) common stock ” ” (Indiana ) ” Julius Kayser ” US Steel ”
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co preferred
I should like to know if they are SAFE stocks to HOLD.
Should I sell any or all of them?
Is there any particular stock I should buy?
I need to make some money because it now appears that it would be advisable for me to go to Europe next Spring on my firm’s business, but they will not pay my expenses. OR: is the party I should see in Europe returning to the United States in the Spring?
Would it be wise for me to be transferred to the Los Angeles branch, - or would it jeopardize the opportunity there is here for me with the parent house in New York?
WHEN is this New York promotion coming?
Sometimes it seems as though my anxiety over the firm’s dull times is as much responsible for my head noises as anything else - although of course I may be mistaken.
WHAT can I do to remove the buzz in my head? (Left side - inner ear)
What can I do to conquer the depression spells to which I am subject?
What form of exercise do you suggest to improve my physical condition?
Yours sincerely, [5459]
