This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 11th day of May, 1934, in accordance with request made by Mrs. [601], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Providence Hosp. Time of Reading Room 138, 11:00 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [546].

2. As we find, there are serious conditions with this body, from a thinning of the walls of the circulatory system and the general weakening of the condition through the body has allowed - in the upper portion of the cardiac end of stomach - a pulling of the cords as related to the activity of the esophagus.

3. Hence this continued spasmodic condition in the throat and stomach; which activity has so inflamed as to cause an oozing of blood in throat and flooding the general system.

4. We would immediately administer a quarter grain Animated Ash in dry form, not in capsule, and give only two teaspoonsful of water to wash same down.

5. Five minutes afterwards apply the ultra-violet ray over the area of the 3rd and 4th dorsal center, for not longer (when really heated) than one and a half minutes; at least thirty-eight inches from body.

6. This, as we find, will almost immediately stop spasmodic condition, creating coagulation, releasing more oxygen for the system.

7. Very close attention will be required until the body has gained its strength sufficient to meet the emergencies.

8. We would on the next day repeat the dose and the application.

9. Also on the third.

10. Then skip a day.

11. And with the general applications to meet the necessities and emergencies that arise, for stimulation to the circulation, we should overcome this IMMEDIATE condition.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Does he have an injured blood vessel? (A) As indicated.

14. (Q) What should be wired to Mrs. [601], the friend who requested this information? (A) To obtain the Animated Ash immediately and administer as given. [See 546-1, Par. R1.]

R1. Copy of Bradley’s letter to patient who ordered ash in Nov. 1933. [See under 432-1 Reports, 11/13/33.]

“Under separate cover the “Carbon Ash” is being forwarded. Am glad you have come in contact with Mr. Cayce whose work has been so remarkable. Concerning the “Ash” the study is a long one. It required months of work and several readings before we could arrive at the final product. You are correct that the name “Carbon Ash” is not correctly descriptive, but no short name could cover the situation. The product is secured by taking bamboo fibre and partially burning it by passing a powerful electric arc through it in a chamber enclosed 83%00 specified by the readings - evidently to secure partial combustion. The resuiting powder contains no elements except those remains after the partial combustion of the bamboo. However, the powder has taken on a photogenic or similar vibratory power. Have secured from it a visible reaction on photographic film. Chemically it is inactive. Its value lies evidently in vibration in manner similar to the activated foods being produced by German Scientists. There is no secret in the composition or method of production. The price of $1.00 for 20 - 1/4 gr. capsules was established for the purpose of recovering the expense of equipment required. This price will be reduced shortly.”

R2. 5/14/34 Mrs. [601]‘s letter: “Upon receipt of your Day Letter the doctors in charge of Dr. [546] were asked it they would try your suggestion and quite naturally they fumed and threatened to step out of the case. After a very bad night Friday, the doctors agreed to try the Ash if the hiccoughing did not stop by the time the Ash was brought. He stopped hiccoughing Sat. morning and, thank God, has been improving steadily. Rec’d the rdg. by special delivery Sat. evening.”

R3. 5/17/34 EC’s letter to his friend, Mr. [440], is used here to show how sometimes EC’s conscious mind jumped quickly to conclusions, misinterpreted and exaggerated:

”…A few days ago we had a wire from a member in Detroit asking that immediate aid be attempted for a very warm personal friend of theirs [546] who was in the hospital and they had had hiccoughs for such a period that those in charge had despaired of his ever coming out. The information was gotten, and the suggestion for aid was made. This was wired to the people and, to be sure, the doctors in charge raised a big ‘hullabaloo’. They allowed the man to suffer through that day, and the next night; then when the ingredients that were suggested arrived they finally agreed they would try it and he was relieved in less than an hour, and is continuing on the improve. This may have been, of course, a happen chance in the eyes of many, but to this individual, at least, it was quite convincing. If I knew your address in Detroit I would have you go and call on these people…”

R4. 6/34 Mrs. [601] told GD that the rdg. was not followed - the doctors laughed at it and gave him something to put him to sleep to stop the hiccoughing.

R5. 9/18/34 Mrs. [480] wrote GD: “Have you looked up some cancer cases for me [requested back in July]? I’m still anxious to work on Dr. [546], although I’ll admit my patience is running low.” [GD’s note: Evidently Mrs. [601]‘s daughter, [480], had talked to Dr. [546] about EC’s work and he wanted to know if EC had cured cancer, etc.]

R6. 3/2/36 Dr. [546] died suddenly of a heart attack, so-called. He was to have gotten married the next day in Chicago, was to have flown there on 3/2/36.

“Very dear friend DANGEROUSLY ILL … Hospital … born April 1901. Is continuously hiccoughing since Sat. Doctors are unable to stop same. They believe he has injured blood vessel but cannot locate same. I am making request. Wire rdg. immediately. Very urgent.”
