This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1929, in accordance with request made by her grandfather, Rev. […], via Dr. W. H. McChesney.

1. EC: We have the body here, [5485].

2. Now, we find there are abnormal conditions with this body, and these conditions may in a manner be corrected; yet these will require a great deal of persistence and patience, for these conditions have to do with prenatal influence, as do affect a physical body.

3. In giving that as is the existent conditions from the pathological standpoint, we find there are little variances from the normal conditions for the body, yet that necessary coordination between the sympathetic and cerebro-spinal is lacking in certain centers and directions, and these do not create the proper reaction in the activity of the auditory and the sympathetic system.

4. These conditions as we find from those of the nature that wherein the condition exists that should function Nominally, yet only in the physical growth does there become pathological change that would be permanent. So, will the changes as are to be corrected, or the conditions that are to be met, the necessity of such being done during the physical development of the body is plain, or necessary.

5. Not that operative forces would aid; not that there are those appliances that will wholly give that necessary connection, but rather the application of that which is life in the spirit force AND the added necessary forces to enliven in each cellular unit of the system where coordination are to be brought about, are changed to vibrate in that association that there may be builded that to the centers from central nerve system those necessary reflections to the brain’s reaction, through the glands, and the upper cervical centers, so that with the building and the assimilating for the building there may be added that which will bring to the body, as it develops, the changes that will enliven even that - apparently in active, in its present conditions.

6. Then, these conditions are much as was said of old, through prayer and fasting much be added in and through the power of that which comes as creative energy INTO an individual; and applied, mechanical, those vibrations which would be found in this - as a battery appliance, carrying with same those necessary forces which will create a change in the vibrations in this body.

7. First we would take a 2 gallon crock or glass container. In this we would put 1 and 1/2 gallons of rain water. To this add:

Copper Sulfate…1 1/4 pound, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 ounce, Common Zinc…6 drams.

Over this place a wooden cover, through which the poles, both of copper, are extended into the solution. Nominally, this charges it self - but in this solution place a glass corked container of Iodine - 1 ounce, see? Then CHARGE the solution with the battery until there is a discharge of at least 12 ohms, or charge same with this: 60 cycles, - 120 volts, for 30 minutes, and the discharge would be proper. To the poles then attach wires, insulated, and flexible. To the ends of the wires attach plates. To the one, small plate the size of half a dollar. To the other, the larger plate, near the size of a small saucer. To small plate should be first attached to the ankle, and the large plate, lastly, to the umbilicus and above same. The charge should be given for 30 minutes. Then the next day attach to the 1st cervical and to the umbilicus, see? With each day that continued application and supplication of that necessary to awaken within the individual that desire for that as is being sought for this body. Get the difference! This can be best gained control of as the body sinks into slumber of evenings, or day, and should be continued by those who seek for the relief, and He will be faithful to give, as has been said, “Ask in my name and ye shall receive - believing - and it shall be done, even to the desire of thy heart.”

9. (Q) What should the plates be made of that are attached to the wire? (A) Copper. Sheet copper. Thin.

10. (Q) What should be the dimension of the poles? (A) Quarter inch. Half inch wide. Fourteen inches long.

11. (Q) Should the wires be of copper? (A) Of copper, or fine copper.

12. (Q) Should the plates be attached by adhesive tape to the body? (A) Better by cords.

In the application, we will find in the first cycle of 56 days, there will be seen changes coming over the body, will this be applied in a persistent and consistent manner.

In the second cycle of this experience, or near that of the fourteenth year, we would find coming a great change for the body.

Be persistent. Be consistent.

R1. 7/12/29 Grandfather’s letter in answer to Cayce Hospital questionnaire: ”…Your request for a report on the treatment of my granddaughter [5485] has been delayed in granting partly because I have been away from home, but mainly for the reason that my granddaughter is at present with her mother in … [Va.], so I did not have prompt and detailed information as to the treatment and results. Having just received them I am transferring them to you. Owing to delay in getting the battery in proper working order the start was not made until June 21st. The whole treatment was then began and has been carefully and accurately kept up.

“As to results, all I can say is that the mental attitude required - a desire on the part of the patient for the accomplishment of the changes - was promptly secured and has been maintained.

“I have not been present, so have not been able to note any results myself.

“I shall be away from home during August, and wonder if it will be satisfactory for my daughter to bring the little girl over for the check reading which Mr. Cayce has mentioned…”
