This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of August, 1929, in accordance with request made by parents, Mr. and Mrs. […].

Time of Reading 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Ck. Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [5485]. This we have had before.

2. Now, we find there are improvements with the physical force and functioning of this body. These conditions need those of the suggestions as have been made for the vibration as is necessary - as given - to create that channel through which the auditory forces may respond in their normalcy to the organs, to the sensory, to the whole nerve system. These are the physical conditions to be created.

3. These should be kept under that same pressure as has been outlined, changing only when the discharge is below normal, and after the next re-charging we would begin with the physical massage of the nerve centers and plexus from the 1st dorsal to the base of the brain, through the whole of the cervical region and along the nerves of the 3rd and 1st nerves of face, which come around the ear, jaw, and to the frontal portion of face - but keep continually those of the supplications in the manner that will bring the awakening of the mental and spiritual body’s relations one with another.

5. (Q) Should the massage be given osteopathically? (A) Osteopathically, or nearer that neuropathically.

6. (Q) Will it in any way be detrimental to postpone the massage until the 1st of September? (A) The body will necessarily be postponed in the reaction that same period. These need the reaction that is necessary through massage, for with muscular tissue, with nerve channels awakening, the massage aids same in reaching out - just as does cultivation aid a plant in reaching out into the soil. So does the re-awakening of nerve energy need that as will enable same to reach out.

Do that when it’s possible, then.

R1. 9/22/29 Mother’s letter in answer to Cayce Hospital questionnaire: ”…I have your letter to my mother [[5485]‘s grandmother] asking for a report of [5485]‘s progress. There was a marked improvement the first three weeks but since then very little. We have carried out the treatments exactly and with the exception of a week or so at the time of my father’s death, nothing has been allowed to interfere with the battery applications and massage. So far, all improvement has been in one ear, the right one, which has always been the best one.

“Thank you for your interest and any help you can give will be very much appreciated…”

R2. 11/21/29 EC gave a reading for [5485]‘s little brother [4820].

R3. 1/31/30 Letter in answer to Cayce Hospital questionnaire: ”…I can tell you very little about [5485] as she is not at home this winter. She is still having the battery and massage treatments, but her improvement is so very slow that it is hard to see…”

R4. 9/15/40 Mother’s report in answer to A.R.E. questionnaire, indicated that the diagnosis in her opinion was correct with both of her children, but that she had no way of knowing ‘causes’. “Both children born deaf, the girl [5485] almost totally, boy [4820] has some hearing. Physician’s analysis was prenatal deafness…” She indicated that the suggestions had been followed about 2 years with no improvements whatever.

R5. 8/6/56 Brother [4820]‘s letter requested copies of their readings, indicating he had just read the book “There Is A River” and his mother had told him about their readings: ”…My mother said she did not remember all of them but she remembered about the wet battery and said I would not take the treatments like Mr. Cayce suggested. She said I took the battery treatment once a week or once every two weeks, sometimes none at all. The reason for that I did not know what it was for until only last spring. I shall be very happy to send you a report on my present physical condition, also my sister’s… My sister [5485] was born deaf and my mother did not know it until I was on the way. My mother said she worried herself sick about me becoming deaf before I was born. That was exactly what Mr. Cayce said during the reading for me in 1929. IN my opinion my sister’s condition remains the same since her readings were made because she was awfully stubborn in taking the treatments. B2. 7/18/29 Mother’s letter: “We will have her there at the time set. We can already see a marked improvement in the hearing of the right ear and are very happy over it. She herself is trying to hear and wants to, and before this she objected to sound and would not try to understand sound.
