LS: You will give a mental and physical reading for this body. You will go over the body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief for this body. You will answer all questions which I will ask you relative to this body, mentally and physically.
-
EC: Now, we find the body very good in the physical, yet there are some conditions of which the body should be warned that are exhibited in the system at the present time, and occasionally show in the functioning organs the distress to which the body is put at times, and without taking cognizance of such conditions the body through the mental, physical, taxation may reach that position, condition, wherein the body would be unable to cope with conditions, save receiving the equilibrium necessary to bring the physical to its normal equilibrium. These conditions, as we find, have to do with certain centers in the nerve system that are impinged in such manner as to prevent the circulation, especially in the eliminating and incentive receiving centers, causing an unequalized amount of dross or refuse to accumulate in various portions of the body, forming self then in to that mass or condition in tissue and fibre of the system known as catarrhal conditions, such as exist in the inner ear, nose, intestines, in stomach proper. These all then, at various times, show the excess of this condition forming in the system. The radiations from these centers, then, which are depressed, as we find come from the 12th, 11th, 10th dorsal and in the 5th and 4th cervicals. These affect then the circulation as directed from these portions and prevent the tissue receiving the incentive to produce perfect eliminations in the system. We have this excess created, as we find, after there has been especial nerve tension, or an excess of foods with the body under nerve tension. The body becomes easily irritated under such conditions, having what would be termed blue or gloomy days, to which the mind, the whole system, seems to submerge at such times. These, then, are symptoms. These, then, are the conditions in physical to which the body should be warned, or from which take warning.
-
To remove those conditions, and to bring the body where the physical may function normally and nominally, would be to first have these subluxations removed by manipulation, osteopathically preferably given, in these regions as given, and so stimulate by heat (any vibration may be used; Alpine Ray, Violet ray, Radial ray. Any that stimulate nerve and blood secretion through parts that have been subluxated), and with this stimulus we will find the body would respond readily through physical forces. These, then, would be necessary three to five treatments, taken one every other day, until the system is in its normal position, condition. Then it will be necessary only to take them once a month, or such a matter, or when necessary for the body to gain its physical, mental, equilibrium.
-
In the mental of the body, we find the body very good, capable of doing much for self and for others. Best, as we see, through each and every individual, first attain to that wherein the physical responds to that necessary in physical, and the mental may magnify or exercise its functions then through a body liberated, as it were, from the conditions as received through physical distresses. In this manner we would bring the body to the better conditions, to the better functionings in its mental, in its physical, in its relation to self, in its relations to others.
-
As to the conditions under which the body labors at the present time, these we find only necessary for the body to keep in that straight and narrow way that gives the best in service for others, for as we find, each and every individual, each and every entity, must pay the price of the success it would achieve, either in physical or mental attributes, or its relations one with the other. He that climbs up some other way becomes the thief and robber.
-
Do that, as we have given.
-
(Q) How can the body develop to a greater business success in its present work? (A) By the perfect understanding of self and of its relations through those injunctions as given, one with another. That is, understand its relations to the individual and the individuals whom the body associates, giving of self in that manner and way that is rendering service to fellow man. The body is able, as given, and will attain to the success that it desires, when it knows the end of the desire. The desire without knowing the inmost recesses of that condition in which the body, physically, mentally, would be placed by receiving such desire, brings condemnation only to self.
-
(Q) How can the body develop its singing voice? (A) First be necessary that the body gain its perfect equilibrium, physically, for with the conditions as have been described, as to that of the tissue involved through congestion, when these corrections are made, the blood flows truly and freely through these channels necessary for the gaining of that condition. Then require for self that knowledge of the desire and urge in self to reach that stage necessary for a success in this line. This then gives, promotes, forces that necessary in the individual, or as is termed from that same viewpoint, the urge, the necessary incentive for giving the best in creating the vocal forces as expressed through the sensory organism of the physical.
-
(Q) How often should the osteopathic treatments be given? (A) As given, until the body is in the normal forces. At least every day, or every other day, until five to six have been taken.
-
(Q) Should the ray treatment be given at approximately the same intervals? (A) Best these be given just after the massage or manipulation has been given the body, to awaken that and to increase the stimulus as is given to the system through adjustments and manipulation.
-
(Q) How many minutes should the ray treatment by given? (A) Depending upon the kind of ray used. These should be judged by those who apply same.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/23/25 Letter: “This is in reference to your rdg. of the 12th inst. concerning my health and business success.
“Following your instructions I have placed myself under the care of an able osteopath, Dr. Joseph Ferguson…who has found by his examinations your rdg. correct in every detail, except a few minor defects which are now being treated in conjunction with your given suggestions. This afternoon was my fifth tr., such as adjustments on spine in the given dorsals and cervicals, also violet ray tr. Is this Dr. Ferguson on the right road - is he following your suggestions? How many more shall I take, etc.? [4/3/25 See 551-2, a CK. Physical.]
“Your answer to my question regarding my business career, etc., is not quite clear to me. Do you think what I am now doing is best fitted for me (Professional Speculator & Advisor in the Stock Market) on Wall Street? Or if not, then what do you suggest where I can best make a successful and financial business career? Or if you find that the work I am now doing is best fitted for me, how can I improve myself in getting the maximum amount of skill to make me financially successful in such work? And if I follow your suggestions faithfully what are my prospects with such work for the future?
“Since receiving your rdg. I have met and talked with Messrs. [257] and [900]. Mr. [900] has suggested to me that when at a later date should I have time that we two would both take a trip to Dayton and meet you personally.
“I have faith in your powers and am anxiously awaiting your reply reference to my requests.” [4/11/25 See 551-3, a Life Reading.]
R2. 3/28/25 Letter to EC:
OSTEOPATHIC SOCIETY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK [Letterhead]
Mr. Edgar Cayce 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
I take pleasure in reporting to you regarding the case of Mr. [551] who consulted me on March 17th, following your report to him on his physical condition.
I found the cervical and lower dorsal subluxations which you mentioned and also the third, fourth and fifth dorsals were somewhat anterior. Mr. [551] is having these mechanical conditions corrected and they have already shown considerable improvement. I am raying him with the Ultra-Violet Ray by means of the Alpine Lamp, which is the name given to the air cooled, mercury quartz lamp made by The Hanovia Chemical Co., of Newark, N.J. This lamp, (as well as the lamps of two other manufacturers) gives off the chemical Ultra-Violet Ray.
Starting the raying at two and one half minutes I found that I had to decrease the dosage slightly, for although the patient is a very marked brunett he reacted quite strongly to the first raying. I now have the dosage regulated to get maximum reaction without the unpleasant sunburning effect. Mr. [551] is resting much better and shows considerable improvement in every way.
Yours respectfully, Joseph Ferguson, D.O.
