-
EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. Many physical changes have taken place since last we had the physical forces as regarding this body. Some are for the betterment. Some still show existent conditions, or the result of existent conditions that were not entirely corrected throughout the system; yet in the general way and manner the physical forces are such as, with care, attention, and with the proper reactions to the physical forces as developments take place, we would find the body building in a nominal way and manner.
-
These should not be begun with the physical forces that which will cause the body to be in that position wherein the actions will be continually causing upsets to the digestion or the assimilating system of the body, and these may be kept more by the body being kept free from constant pampering, or constant following too close to those things as RULES. Rather let the body become a rule within itself towards those conditions as may be administered for the proper reaction, and then let the system, the vitality of the body, respond within itself. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should he take cooked cow’s milk or cooked goat’s milk? and how many ounces should he take in 24 hours? (A) The goat’s milk will be the more satisfactory. Not necessary that it be continually used as cooked milk. This necessary for the time being, but this may be gotten away from gradually as the conditions assert themselves toward the rebuilding and replenishing of the body.
-
(Q) Should it be given diluted now or full strength? (A) Diluted when necessary. Full strength when the body will assimilate it.
-
(Q) Can he take Bulgarian buttermilk? or would it be of benefit now? (A) Not now. This may come later, as the developments come and the body is able to assimilate and use same.
-
(Q) Should he take meat broths of any kind of meat? (A) That of BEEF JUICES; not broths. Broths may be given OCCASIONALLY of wild game (bird or fowl), but rather weak then. The beef JUICE may be given (diluted), and will be a body, blood and bone builder. Be sure there’s sufficient calcium kept in all that given as diet, and keep the body in the SUNSHINE as much as possible.
-
(Q) Would any reduced iron in drugs do him any good? (A) Not at present, if the properties are given in other things that carry those necessary vitamins that will build. Little drugs for this body.
-
(Q) Please name all vegetables that he needs now to build him up, and which raw and which cooked. (A) These cooked: Beans, cabbage, spinach, tomatoes. These may be given in small quantities. These may be given raw AND cooked: Carrots, beets, peas, tomatoes. These may be given raw OR cooked in small quantities, as they assimilate or are taken up properly by the system. Use discretion. MOST the body needs is sunshine, and the milk, and those as given in the juice.
-
(Q) How much orange juice does he need? (A) That of two or three oranges will be well for the body.
-
(Q) Each day? (A) Each day.
-
(Q) Should he take apples, cooked or raw? (A) No.
-
(Q) What cereals should he eat? (A) Those that are dry in their natural form, any of these occasionally, or changed, are well. These may be moistened with the milk.
-
(Q) Should he have any sugar at all? If so, name kind? (A) Beet sugar, little in and with the cereals and the cooking.
-
(Q) Should he eat bananas in any form? (A) No.
-
(Q) Should he eat cornbread cooked with eggs and soda? (A) Cornbread without the eggs and soda is better for the body; that known as ash cake, or that as scalded cornbread with the bean juice is excellent for the body.
-
(Q) Which is the best way to give him an egg? (A) Coddled.
-
(Q) He needs to gain five pounds. What will best do this? (A) Sunshine, beef juice, and the milk. Sunshine principally.

R1. 10/6/28 Mother [4280]‘s letter requesting check readings for herself, her husband [4283], her little daughter [4281], and her baby son [5520]: ”…I’m sure you’ll understand how it is [about not sending money], with so much expense during illness!
“I had two ‘specialists’ with baby [5520] this summer and they charge so much to come from Atlanta to …
“The baby [5520] is better and gaining - but his bowels seem to be a little dry and hard. What is the best to give him to lubricate the bowels and cause them to move? Can he take Squibb’s liquid Petrolatum? How long should he continue to have Casec in his milk? One doctor says he needs it longer and another says he does not need it now! I know you can tell me what to do about it. What caused him to have the bloody diarrhea? I want to know so I can avoid him having it again if possible! He was so ill that I broke myself down nursing him. It seemed for a month that he could not live at all.
“How soon should he have whole milk?…”
R2. 11/4/28 Mother [4280]‘s letter: ”…The baby [5520] is growing again and is walking now. He is a fine child. We hope to make a wonderful man, and physician of him if he wants to be a physician! …I am anxious to get a reading again on [5520] who needs a change in diet. Please see what causes him to cry whenever his kidneys want to act. What causes him to cry out in his sleep? Will he have to be circumcised now or later? The doctor in Atlanta says he needs to be. What causes him to have the hiccoughs so much? Please see what he needs to relieve this pain when his kidneys act? What to add to diet to make his bowels less firm? Stools are too hard. See if he should eat the whole brown rice with husks on it, or should it be run through a sieve? How much gruel does he need per day? Should he eat 1/2 teacup once or twice daily? Should he eat cracked wheat or Wheatena? Should some of the starch be taken off of all his cereals? He can’t take much starch since his illness in July. Can he eat whole wheat bread? Can he take graham cracker (one) per day? Should he eat mashed beans, peas, potatoes and spinach, or just the broth off of these? He doesn’t like vegetables since his illness. Should he take whole milk without cream off or can I leave all the cream on? I have been taking off cream since his illness. How much water should I add to 8 ounces of milk? Or how much water to 1 quart milk? Is one quart of milk too much for him per day? Does he need Casec in his milk now? Can he take cooked fruits or raisins? Please let me hear from you at once in regard to him…”
R3. 11/15/28 EC’s letter: ”…I hope you will pardon me for this seeming delay in answering you. Seems like I have to make an excuse every time I write. I certainly don’t mean to be negligent.
“We will get the reading for [5520] and for [4281] also, just as soon as I am physically able. I wrenched my ankle yesterday - it’s giving me a great deal of pain right now. We are a long way behind with our appointments, but I’m setting a definite time that this will be made, so you may be very sure you will get it within the next few days…”
R4. 11/19/28 EC gave the fourth reading - 5520-4.
