This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of October, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [5554].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Dr. Berger and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)
- EC: Yes, we have the body, [5554]. This we have had before. The body shows much improvement since we have had this condition here. There are still, however, those reactions that cause the body distress at times. This is particularly seen in the activity of the digestive and eliminating system. We would, for the further corrections, at least once each month - for two to three months - or for at least three months, or three such treatments - empty the colon. We would, at least twice each week, or DAILY would be preferable - but at least twice each week have deep manipulations, OSTEOPATHICALLY, for the general physical system. Each other treatment, each day, given osteopathically, should be more to produce the proper coordination between the sympathetic and cerebro-spinal system; that is, stimulating - particularly - these centers: The 4th and 5th lumbar plexus, radiating - of course - to the end of the spine, and across those centers radiating to the sciatic nerves. Then the solar plexus center, in the 10th, 9th and 11th dorsal centers - then in the 3rd and 4th dorsal centers, and a full general massage in the 3rd, 4th, 1st and 2nd cervicals. Pressure being brought on the nerves to the frontal portion of the head, to relieve that strain in eyes, ears, nose. These, we would find, should - in two weeks, were they followed properly - WITH the three months’ of the other treatment; that is, one treatment each month - have the body nearly normal. We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/8/29 Letter: ”…Very glad to receive yours of the first. I am also very thankful for the prompt reading I received. It was the best I have received and no doubt there must be some improvement. I went to an osteopath last Monday night - Dr. C. A. Lynch… I thought I could not explain to him just the kind of treatment so I thought best to show him reading which I did as I know him quite well. He seemed very interested and gave me quite a treatment. It is a question in my mind how he could get a reading for any of his patients. As I understand it, it would be necessary for the patient to become a member of the Association. Am I right? On the other hand, if the doctors could get a reading they would know better how and what to treat. As you know, statistics show that more trouble is caused by wrong diagnosis. Looks like there should be some way around this. I would like very much to spend two weeks at the hospital and it does seem a shame that I have not had any vacation, but I am not trying to let it worry me as I have a hard time keeping my mind clear as it is…”
R2. 11/11/29 EC wrote suggesting that he have his osteopath communicate with Dr. L. A. Lydic who might discuss the EC work with him.
R3. 1/21/30 Letter: ”…This is a long time since your letter of November 1st, but I do want to thank you for the prompt reading just the same - it was greatly appreciated.
“Mr. Cayce, I sure have had my trials and tribulations since, but I thank God that I am able to keeping going.
“I have not been away from work one day. Of course, I am grateful that I am able to work and a job to go to. Since business became dull and the stock market crashed our Company, while running full, laid off 55 men in the plant and the plants are running just the same, but my, the additional work.
“I do not think it advisable for me to ask for a vacation now and they don’t say a word. It certainly does seem like a great injustice to me but I hope I can see it through.
“I have followed very carefully the last reading. However, the osteopathic treatments would make me rather nervous at night. He also put the sun light lamp on me but it did not tan me like other people. I don’t think my blood is up to standard. My nervousness causes me to smoke quite a few cigarettes and I can not clear up my tongue even with a little medicine.
“Otherwise I feel better than last summer. Of course I do not have the old pep at all and worry just a little about my condition at times. I would be pleased for you to furnish another reading. And I am enclosing ten dollars covering…
“I am sorry that I have not seen Dr. Lydic of Dayton, but as I said before I just hate to lay off as conditions are not so good. If I felt like myself I would not mind. Sometimes I think I would be far better off if I would leave the state of Ohio, but in the May reading is a suggestion that I not change locations…”
R4. 1/27/30 Letter: ”…I just learned that Dr. Lydic is now located at the Cayce Hospital. I am surely glad to hear that, yet I am disappointed as I was anxious to meet him. Dr. Lynch here is a mighty fine man and knows Dr. Lydic but somehow or other he seems to be very doubtful. Is it possible you might know of some osteopath in this vicinity that I might call on who is interested. I perhaps could arrange to take one or two treatments a week even though he is not located in …
“I think Dr. Lynch is interested a little as he said he would make it a point to see Dr. Lydic at the monthly meeting at Dayton but somehow or the other he was not able to see him.
”…Some of these bosses around here that thought I did not need any vacation are making their arrangements to go south on their winter vacation next month. Of course that is different and when you work for someone else you must do as they desire and content yourself.
“Although it looks sometimes like there is no Divine justice. I am thankful to God that I am able to work and have work to go to, but I surely would like to feel stronger.
“I am very much interested in the work you are doing and I surely wish I knew what I could do to help it along…”
R5. 2/3/30 EC gave the fourth and last reading - 5554-4.
