This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of October, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [5564] via Mr. [2597].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, Mrs. [5564], and we find there are disturbing conditions for this body. These have been of long standing, and are subtle in their nature in many respects. These may be aided, and would the proper time, care and attention, proper persistency be given for the correction, the body SHOULD respond and become again the near normal.

2. These conditions, as we find, have to do with the character of eliminations, and the disturbances as have come to the system from the variations produced through the disturbance.

3. These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, Mrs. [5564] we are speaking of:

THE BLOOD SUPPLY shows the effect of the conditions, and the character of the disturbance in the elimination, in the manner in which the cellular forces IN the blood supply are divided, and the acumen [acuteness?] in the exterior portions, or in the capillary circulation, are evidences of this disturbance as has existed between the eliminations of the body as related to the alimentary canal and the lymphatic or exterior circulation, and the disturbance as is produced in the system from same. One causing the other, or the other causing the disturbance in the exterior portion. Also the effect as is created on the kidneys and the heart’s action, these are a result of this disturbance as is seen.

5. IN THE NERVE SYSTEMS, these show the effect too; also of how the affecting of the elimination has disturbed various organs in their connection through the mesenteric system, to the centers, or the relation of those centers to the functioning of organs.

6. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF ORGANS THEMSELVES, these show - as is seen in liver, pancreas, kidneys - how that these are overtaxed, and the disturbance as is caused produces the disturbance in the system. These beginning from disturbance as exists in the 8th and 9th dorsal, that plexus being in the state of subjugation, the pressures as produced first brought about the disturbed forces, and the gradual building into the system of those conditions as have produced the exterior forces, as are seen in the pressure as created in blood supply, the dormancy, the activity of the liver as to regulating to the system, the overtaxing in the kidneys and their effect on the system, as well as the exterior forces as have come into the body.

7. To meet the needs, then, of these conditions for this body of [5564].

8. First we would find that it would be NECESSARY that the PROPER corrections be made in the cerebro-spinal system, and during that period it would be necessary for the body to rest from much of the taxation - physically OR mentally - and rest the system from foods that cause distress in the alimentary canal and its elimination.

9. We would put the self, then, under that condition, that direction, where such changes may be made Cayce Hospital] - and as they are begun we may give further instructions for these. These may be accomplished where the preparations are made to carry out the suggestions as are given through these sources. We are through for the present.

R1. 10/7/29 Letter: ”…Since receiving your letter I have been studying it very carefully. While I understand part of it I feel I would like you to tell me more in detail. I hope you will be able to answer the following questions: How many hours do you want me to rest daily and for what period of time? What is the character of the disturbance in the eliminations? Where is it located and how can it be corrected? What do you mean by acumen in the exterior portion and how the capillary circulation is affected? Please tell me definitely how the liver and pancreas are affected and what symptoms they produce? State definitely what the kidney trouble is. Do you mean all these conditions are produced by pressure on the 8th and 9th dorsal? As soon as I receive your reply I hope to follow all your instructions to the letter…”

R2. 10/8/29 Mrs. [189]‘s letter: ”…I have been at … for the last few days and I met Mrs. [5564] who has just gotten a reading from you. She advises me that the information contained in this reading was not sufficiently specific and therefore she wrote you asking some further questions which she wanted answered. This lady happens to be a patient of Dr. Smith’s who treated Mr. [2597] and the doctor is trying to convince himself of the merit of your work and I believe if you will give specific instruction to this lady, Dr. Smith will not only carry them out but he will become a devout convert to our cause, and I believe he could be interested to help you with your work. As you know, he is one of the finest physicians here.

“Furthermore, Mrs. [5564] happens to be the Rabbi’s wife here and is a leader in the community and could do much good in this community if you can prove that you can help her.

“In view of the above will you be good enough to give preference to her second reading and advise her at an early date just when you will be in a position to give her a check reading…”

R3. 10/10/29 EC’s reply: ”…We are very, very far behind with appointments. We have been bending every effort; in fact - I know I am overtaxing myself… I’ve been sick the last two days…”

R4. 10/28/29 EC wired asking Mrs. [5564] if the reading was still desired and if Wednesday morning would be satisfactory. Mrs. [5564] wired back: “Reading still desired. Wednesday morning satisfactory.”

R5. 10/30/29 EC gave the second reading - 5564-2.

B1. 9/1/29 Mr. [2597] (who was miraculously cured by following the treatments according to the readings at Cayce Hospital) gave EC a membership application and questions for Mrs. [5564] as follows: “Will you please give me a diagnosis for my present state of health. What treatments will help me? Will Leonard make a better business connection and what would you advise him to do to benefit his financial position? Can you advise me as to how I can invest a few thousand dollars to increase my principal? What should my sister […] do about the business partner she has associated with her? What do you think about him as a husband? Any help you can give me for my sister will mean much to me…”

B2. 9/5/29 EC wrote her that such a variety of questions would require at least three appointments, and that he did not make business reading appointments when there were urgent physical readings waiting.

B3. 9/10/29 Letter: ”…In reply to your letter of the 5th I would, of course, prefer an appointment for a physical reading first. Later on I can have the other questions answered. The sooner you can give me a reading the better for me in my present condition… Please keep those other questions for future readings…”
