This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self, through phone request by sister, Miss [993], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:30 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
As we find, the administrations of the manipulative forces have been very well given; but there should be more of these in the direction of creating a better balance in the nerve systems of the body; at least three or four more.
-
There has been an upsetting through the activities of the MENTAL self, in allowing itself to become AGGRAVATED or overanxious - and this combined with the poisons in the system is producing the disturbance.
-
Hence there is the necessity for the use of those stimulations to the activities of the alimentary canal to free the body of the poisons, or to carry same off - the accumulation as waste from the cold, the congestion, and the general reactions in the system.
-
These as we find may best be had in a combination of laxatives; as those properties of a vegetable nature - such as Castoria and California Syrup of Figs; taken in this manner:
-
Take the Fletcher’s Castoria in broken doses, very often; that is, a quarter teaspoonful every half an hour until the body has the natural sedative effect of this being absorbed by the system. There will be the inclination from same for the body to rest, or feel as if it were a bit dopey - but this will be the effect of the combinations of properties in the Castoria, and is not detrimental - neither habit-forming.
-
Then late in the evening take a teaspoonful of half Castoria and half Syrup of Figs, as to flush the system.
-
Keep the body quiet, the feet warm; but CHEERFUL surroundings in every manner.
-
The diet should be rather liquids and semi-liquids but strengthening in every manner.
-
And we should find better conditions being brought for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Why has she gotten so very nervous? (A) As just indicated, it has allowed itself to become overanxious about mental conditions or surroundings and activities in specific ways. [GD’s note: Sister [993] said [560] was very sensitive about having a man osteopath work on her; she couldn’t relax and get the full benefit from the treatments.]
-
(Q) What can sister, [993], do to aid body? (A) Keep a cheerful atmosphere about the body, and in an attitude and with activities of constructive forces in every manner.
The use of the Radio-Active Appliance would be most beneficial in bringing the rest.
With the use of those properties that will be absorbed through the system and produce the sedative effect, we do not find this will be absolutely necessary; but if there is the inability to rest - and the inability to use the Appliance - we would have given a sedative so that the body may rest or sleep.
- (Q) Any further information or advice? (A) Much in the form of advice or information might be suggested, but these suggestions are for the immediate conditions.
These we would do for the present.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: Miss [993] had submitted a question about an experience she recently had while attaching the Radio-Active Appliance to [560], in re healing vibrations, but this did not get asked. It later was submitted and answered 3/15/39 under 281-40, Par. 22-A.
R1. 3/14/38 She requested another Ck. Physical at an early date, asking, “Did I get the benefit of the last osteopathic treatment? Why do I take cold so much now? Should I go out more? How may I prevent taking cold?”
R2. 4/21/38 Sister [993] phoned questions for 560-7.
R2. 4/14/38 See 560-6.
R3. 2/11/41 Letter from Lawrence Laboratories:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
From some of your folks, we learn that you are setting up a library establishing a center, and gathering a fount of information - and we would like to assist to our limited ability.
Not knowing just how or what we can do - we are sending a couple of dozen packages of ADIRON each with full scientific data concerning it.
With our earnest hope for the continuation and spread of your good works.
Cordially yours, LAWRENCE LABORATORIES, L. M. Williams, Mgr. LMW:mw
[GD’s note: I seem to remember that the product was taken off the market about the time EC died in 1945 or shortly afterwards.]
R3. 4/21/38 See 560-7.
R4. 6/7/38 Dr. M. L. Richardson’s reply to Questionnaire in re readings 560-4 and 560-5:
“There was much in this case not revealed by the reading, and in subjective questioning I obtained little to help me. There is little to report except incomplete and unsatisfactory results.
“This is personal and confidential - please.”
R4. For details on CODIRON & ADIRON, see Source File Key #560 in re 560-6.
R5. GD’s note: Miss [560] had been very timid and secretive about discussing her symptoms with Dr. Richardson. By the time he wrote the above report he naturally had heard about her serious condition being discovered by the woman osteopath, Dr. Gena L. Crews, and the subsequent medical report, radium treatment, etc.
If Miss [560] had confided in Dr. Richardson when she first went to him, perhaps the results would have been different.
We were told that Miss [560] had always been very prim and shy. It was revealed that she had once been married very briefly - say, for one night - but familiarities having to do with the opposite sex were taboo in her case.
R5. 9/54 Routine mailing to Lawrence Laboratories, L. M. Williams was ret’d marked “Out of Business/Deceased.”
