This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of May, 1928, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. [325].

1. EC: Yes, we have had the body here before. Now we find there are a great many changes in the physical forces of the body since last we had same here. There are changes in many ways. There are those conditions existent that are of a different nature, and the source of the disturbance comes from other portions of the functioning system than that as we have had before. These are conditions as we find them with this body at the present.

2. In the natural changes as come about with the physical functioning, with the depressions as have existed with the body through that of congestion and through that of the non-eliminations in the system, there has been brought about those conditions that, in segregating themselves through the system - and acting and causing activity in certain functioning regions - cause distress to the body.

3. In the lower lumbar there is seen, especially, that of the lesion that causes the distress through the functioning of the ascending colon. This produces a lack of proper secretions to cause the normal or nominal functioning of the body. The addition of salines - whether of the nature as to produce more lactics or more acids in the system - has not been effective in bringing about the normal excretion. The activity as is produced by this increase of the mucus producing forces in the internal system, brings that of a low form of self-poisoning that has reduced the vitality and the nerve energy of this portion of body. Hence the pains as are produced - heaviness, contraction of muscles in the side - first one then the other. These are reflex conditions, then, from the lesion and from condition existent in system. The action then of this poisoning to system has slowed up the heart’s action, for the pressure comes directly then through the hypogastric and pneumogastric plexus, and causing a slowing in activity to the cardiac and central, or the secondary and central nerve system.

4. Then, to meet the needs of the conditions at the present time, first we would have the full thorough relaxation of the body by thorough osteopathic manipulation. After such manipulation we would apply saturated solution of Epsom Salts across the lumbar region, and hot castor oil applications across the lower portion of the liver and the whole of the abdomen, see? Keep these up. Change as soon as the heat has passed out of same. That is, keep up the applications for at least six hours, see? with little nourishment save as of milk or of dry milk, or such like - see?

5. Then we would begin with the massage - after the treatment osteopathically - for the correction of the condition in the lumbar and lower dorsal region - of olive oil and tincture of myrrh (equal parts). Heat the oil and add the myrrh. Massage along the spine. We will find these will add to the material benefit of the body in strength, in reducing temperature, in producing eliminations properly.

6. After the oil and salts packs it would be well for the body to have a high enema - taking with each half gallon of tepid water at least a teaspoonful of Glyco-Thymoline in same.

7. Watch the diet - giving plenty of sunshine, inside and out. That is, milk-malted milk - codliver oil - liver (preferably calf’s liver, chicken liver, goose liver, or such). We will build the body up, then, to the normal healthy condition. Keep out in the air, and away from crowds. Do that. Ready for questions. [After pause] We are through for the present.

R1. 5/10/28 Mother [325]‘s letter: ”…[563]‘s Reading found her up and about. She feels well again. Had I received the Reading sooner it would have been the cure, as it was just her state of health when taken ill - being it was around the heart. I felt it needed immediate attention, so I had to call the doctor. He did not know what it was but I did. He gave the treatment. Dr. Krause [Eugene R. Krause, D.O.?] said if she was no better the next day he would take an X-ray, but as I did all of the things you suggested in Reading I had her up and about. Thank God she is o.k. again. Of course, as the Reading says she needs attention, as she is growing very rapidly. [563] sends her thanks to you for the help…”
