Date: 2/20/1928 Sex: M Age: 53 ReadingID: 14043
This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of February, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [5648].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Florida.
-
GC: You will have before you this body and his enquiring mind, and his efforts to find employment. You will check up on the conditions for the body’s betterment and advise him especially as to his finding employment. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
-
EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, and those conditions surrounding the efforts of the body to secure employment.
-
Now, in the information as has been given, there is seen that the body - mentally, physically - has not followed up some of those suggestions as given for the body to secure the employment, especially with that of the sugar corporation in Cuba, or the American Cuban Sugar Corporation. These would have proven to the betterment of the body had these been carried forward in a more persistent manner; that is, as is seen, the communications - while apparently soliciting little or no response, in a manner, from those approached - yet openings were left wherein had the body used that influence and those channels through which former associations were made, then connection could and would be accomplished that would bring to the body those of the satisfactory associations. Begin rather with that of the lower order of conditions and PROVE self worthy of the higher position or station, or association with such.
-
Also there is seen that there are lumber companies in Jacksonville with whom the body may find association - those of Johns-Manville, and of the lumber companies whose offices, or main offices, are in Cincinnati, Ohio. These - through efforts of the entity or body will bring results along these lines. These may be only offered as suggestions for the body, but the effort must be put forth by the body itself - for nothing will be handed to one in an offhand manner. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Have I reached proper authority in the various connections outlined? (A) As has been given, in that especially in the sugar companies, these needed only carrying forward those suggestions as has been here outlined, or - as has been given - in using the leads and the conditions as brought about these connections aforetime.
-
(Q) What agencies could be employed to locate proper connections? (A) Any of the regular channels or regular activities through which the entity or body may apply would bring some results, would the body put forward leads given in such.
-
(Q) What things can be done to better my material welfare in Sections 13, 14, 23 T54S R36E and what wealth do they enfold? (A) These have nothing to do with EMPLOYMENT for the body. The development of these holdings eventually may bring much of the worlds goods to the body. Do not release the hold the body at present has with same, for these will bring to the body, through the natural development of the resources there enfolded, to the betterment financially; though releases would bring little at present, or under present conditions. We are through for the present.

R1. 6/17/28 [5648]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:-
It occurred to me to write to you several days since - I had in mind to acknowledge the last reading but now I am confused.
The last time I was in New York I believe you were here also, and of this occurs again - that is if you visit New York soon
- I would be pleased would you find it convenient to communicate with me so that I could call upon you.
I have employment but I don’t know how satisfactory it will be. I am following the physical and diet suggestion as closely as I can with reasonable effort. Raw vegetables are very difficult - at present.
I believe the readings all contained wisdom tho I believe I would have received better results had I been present - A question and answer may have set me straighter.
I hope I may talk with you some time.
Have you any wakefully suggestions as to literature that I might find interesting?…
R2. 12/15/28 GD’s note: Mr. [5648] sent $15 contribution in answer to plea for funds for the Cayce Hospital.
R3. 11/17/29 [5648]‘s ltr. to EC:
Palmira, Colombia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I would appreciate another reading with suggestions along general welfare lines; - health and employment as relations to this place and information as to my tenure in the Everglades.
This letter will take about three weeks to reach you and an answer as long to reach me, so that, I would suggest that you do not communicate to me before the reading.
I shall be here in the office any business day from December 10th to the 15th between eight and ten-thirty and one and four-thirty.
Hoping that you can be of assistance in this manner, I am,
Yours truly,
R4. 12/16/29 EC’s reply: Replying to yours of Nov. 17th, we would like very much to be of help to you if it is possible. However, we are not making any appointments for business readings. Our requests for physical readings have grown to such an extent that we find it impractical to try to continue both, and - as we have built the hospital to materially manifest the aid that may be given individuals for their health, and prepared the place to carry the same out, we feel that, inasmuch as we ARE limited in the number we are able to assist, we have no right to give the time for purely commercial purposes.
If you desire the reading for your health, that’s a different proposition. We will be very glad to make an appointment for that, and to give you an appointment for:
Thursday, May 29, 1930, 10 to 12 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.
We certainly hope that things are going nicely for you. We are glad to hear from you, and hope you will drop us a line occasionally.
R5. 4/13/30 [5648]‘s letter:
Gentlemen:
Your letter [questionnaire form] of sometime since relative to readings was received in due time. I am sorry to have responded with such delay.
Before your asking, I wrote that I carried out the instructions to the greatest extent for sometime and as far as practical much thereafter. I refer to the instructions as to health. Even these, I failed to find the appliance as the readings show. However my physical condition was not so readily observed by others neither was the improvement, so that, it is difficult to write an interesting letter of the matter. I believe the readings all contained great wisdom. I am still bearing in mind and somewhat controlled by the health instructions. I benefitted some by the employment suggestions and believe I would have done much better had I risked more to follow a certain suggestion with reference to my previous connections.
R6. 4/13/30 [5648]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
I have before me your letter of the 16th of December and note the contents. I was very much disappointed at the time. Things are better in a small way now tho I would still appreciate as much wisdom as I can get. My own still voice seems to have gone faint. In another’s wording it might be called “hunch”.
I wish that you would still give me the reading a general one, combining health, mental and material things as you did in the first reading.
I thank you for your good wishes, and await your reply with interest.
R7. 5/29/30 He had his fourth and last reading, 5648-4.
