This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of February, 1935, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [652], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:55 to 12:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Arizona. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [567] this we have had before.
-
In some respects we find the conditions not so good, not quite as good coordination in the cerebrospinal and sympathetic system as we have had before. There have been the tendencies for the adhesions, that have been indicated in the lacteal duct area, to become dried more; not sufficient lymph circulation, through lack of sufficient of CONCERTED activity or of the exercises of the body.
-
While the adjustments have in a measure been at times helpful, these have NOT been - as we find - as CORRECTLY given as some that have been had heretofore. To make simply an adjustment and not coordinate same with the sympathetic centers along the spine at times makes for a strain and a lack of coordination, see? In making these adjustments, then, we would make an adjustment in the upper cervical - as in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervical; and then MASSAGE, by rotary movements, the nerves and centers and the muscular tendons that react from same in the head, the jaw, side of the face and the like, see? especially the vagus nerves and the 5th and 6th nerves that come to portions of the head in the exterior forces, or in the neck here and across to the head. Also, as indicated, it is necessary to make some adjustments or rather MOVEMENTS in the lower dorsal and throughout the lumbar area. These we would coordinate with the muscles and nerve ends about the coccyx end, or along the lower spinal end, see? close to the orifices that make their connections with the cerebro and the sympathetic nervous systems in the brush end of the spine.
-
We would take more CONSISTENT exercises in the open; as chopping, walking, digging, ANY movement that exercises the whole body; morning AND evening, see?
-
It is helpful, to be sure, that there be not as much sedimentary conditions in the body, but these are being resorted to in other measures that are NOT so well.
-
We would apply the oil packs, and we would have the irrigations at least three to four times a week until we remove these conditions or congestions in this area.
-
These we would keep, and be mindful that the diet never includes any white bread or too much starches as from potatoes or from any of the starchy elements such as spaghetti, rice, white potatoes or white bread; for these tend to make for a slowing up of the conditions in the system.
-
If these are kept CONSISTENTLY, persistently, as we find, these will be most helpful to the body. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are one hour oil packs sufficient? (A) They should be at least two or three hours, three or four times each week. These should be across the liver and the caecum area, as well as - of course - across the whole of the lacteal duct area as is indicated in the first activities of the jejunum as digestion begins in the upper intestinal system.
-
(Q) Would steam baths help? (A) We do not find steam baths as a helpful condition for this particular period of the body’s activities. A warm bath after the violent exercises morning and evening, with a brisk cold rubdown, would be much preferable.
-
(Q) Would olive oil with meal help? (A) Olive oil, so it does not become rancid in the system, taken in small enough doses to assimilate, is helpful to any intestinal disturbance - which is a greater portion of the conditions as in this body. Where there have been tendencies for the caecum and the lacteal ducts and the connecting forces in the areas of the intestinal system to become dried, or lack of flow of the lymph, these produce such disturbances for the loss or lapse of the memory, or produces the falling conditions, see? These, then, need to be stimulated. Olive Oil is well. The high enemas two or three times a week in the first, as we find, would be MOST helpful. Then later we would have these at least once a week, until we correct this colon and allow those influences that have disturbed the body from constipation to be entirely removed. Simply because there is an evacuation through the alimentary canal each day does not indicate at all times, or especially in this body, that there is being a cleansing or a healthy condition throughout the intestinal tract. If this were true, we wouldn’t have these pains, we wouldn’t have these reactions!
-
(Q) Any indication of tape worm? (A) No indication of tape worm. There is an indication that there has been stomach worms and intestinal worms, as indicated from the walls of the intestines - especially in the caecum and lacteal duct areas; but not tape worm. These indications are from those cohesions and adhesions, this drawing of tissue or tendency of tissue to be disturbed is from the infectious forces of such conditions, not from tape worm.
-
(Q) Any other advice for this body? (A) If there is the desire on the part of the body to test self for tape worms, live for three days on raw apples ONLY! Then take about half a teacup of olive oil, or half a glass of olive oil. And this would remove fecal matter that hasn’t been removed for some time! But it will certainly indicate there is no tape worm. [See 294-182, Par. 10-A and Reports on Apple Diet; also see 639-2, Par. R6.]

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/7/35 Letter to Edgar Cayce from [567]: “Your reading arrived yesterday and thanks loads.
“I changed doctors a few weeks ago for Dr. Crider did not seem to be giving me the proper treatments. Dr. Johnson [Lee M. Johnson, D.C.?], whom I have now, is quite interested in my case and is following instructions to the letter.
“I am watching my diet carefully and eating ONLY what I am to have.
“I don’t doubt from your letters that you have the idea that I dread work. Truly though, Mr. Cayce, I do not. I would be more than willing to start tomorrow on a steady 8 hour a day job. What I object to is sitting around this house with no definite work - one day mowing the lawn, the next planting a tree, the next emptying the garbage, etc. I despise work that is not systematic!
“Now - I have had quite a talk with a Mr. Collins who is in charge of the Gov. office of labor here in … He has promised me a job with the under-pass gang in a week or two as soon as he can place me. This will be an ideal job, for I will be on the afternoon shift will work only 5 hours and will get up a REAL sweat by shoveling. I can get out in the morning for a good walk, or game of tennis or the like and thus follow your instructions TO THE LETTER.
“I am far better than I have been in years. I am going 4, 5 and 6 days without turns. Not only this, but during these days without them I will have the feeling right up to the point of unconsciousness and then pull out of it. This condition has only been with me the last two or three weeks. I will write more often and keep you posted as to my improvement. The family joins me in love to you and yours.” [567]
R2. 4/12/35 [567]‘s letter: “Well, here I am up at Wichita, Kansas, due to the wonderful publicity given this chiropractic Dr. Kolar [Francis Kolar, D.C.] Dr. Johnson told me of the man and his wonderful cures, and the parents decided I had better visit him. From what I read and hear he certainly has done some remarkable things in the medical world. He made some tests yesterday and said I had a tumor on the brain and that pressure from below caused irritation of this tumor and my trouble. He is operating (without knife) on me either this afternoon or tomorrow to eliminate this cause of my trouble. I am waiting for him now to try and get 20 minutes to show my rdgs. to him. Then I feel he will be able to enlarge his treatments to a permanent cure! I am still having my turns altho everyone says they are much milder. It will certainly be a relief to lose them for good. I will get a more complete diagnosis of my case from him and mail it to you soon. I would appreciate hearing from you soon. Best regards to you and yours.”
R3. 4/16/35 [567]‘s letter: “As the above address indicates [Kolar Health Clinic, 320 N. Market St., Wichita, Kansas], I am in the hands of another doctor. Mother and Dad heard of Dr. Kolar and the great success he has with his patients, so sent me to see him. He is well known in the west here and they say that he will not take a patient unless he feels sure he can cure them. He is a chiropractic doctor.
“In making tests he found several adhesions in my stomach which he said would need an operation (chiropractic). He also found a weak spot in my head. He ended up by saying I would be here about 8 wks.! I told him of you and gave him your first rdg. of my trouble. He seemed very much interested but I heard no more after that.
“He operated on me Sat. and now I must lay flat in bed. I am not allowed to raise up at all. I had a turn during his operation so do not remember more than the beginning when he was on my stomach.
“I wonder if you don’t think a rdg. would be advisable? I cannot refresh my memory on the operation because for 10 or 12 days the doctor has gone to a convention at Atlanta, Ga. I could ask his assistant but I’d rather talk to him.”
R4. 5/1/35 EC’s letter: “Your letter of the 16th came, written from Witchita and mailed from Pasadena. What are you doing out there, or who mailed this for you?
“Of course, I’m not surprised to know that it gradually became necessary for the family to have someone to handle the situation. [567], I believe your best proposition was at the Farm. [H. J. Reilly’s SUN AIR FARM, Oak Ridge, N.J.] What do you think? I believe you were doing better there than anywhere else. It may be that it’s out of the question for your father to afford such a place; I don’t know, but I suspect the Health Clinic there is just about as expensive.
“I don’t know that it would even be a practical thing to now have another reading, unless you could interest your man there in the type of information that might come through the reading. Now, whether this would be worth while or not, I’ll leave it to your own judgment. Of course, you know things have changed around considerably at the Farm; they are not so haphazard as they once were, and there are more people there. But you write me the situation since you have gotten this far, and let’s see how things go.”
Sincerely, EC
R5. 5/9/35 [567]‘s letter: “I feel happier at this moment than I have felt for days. Dr. Kolar just walked in and informed me he had read all your rdgs. of me. Dr. Kolar is a very busy man. He has his Clinic full at all times. He is famous through the midwest and west for the remarkable cures he makes. He is always so busy when he visits me in the morning that I just get a chance to say good morning and then he’s gone. I tried and tried and finally got Mrs. Huelet (head nurse) into my room the other day. I gave her your booklet and my rdgs. I asked her to read them and then try and interest Dr. Kolar. The doctor just came in and informed me my treatments would be given exactly as you suggest but, what’s more, has gone back to write out questions for another rdg. And this is what I’ve been hoping for since arriving here. I am much better, Mr. Cayce. What surprised me most was that Dr. Kolar found troubles none of my other doctors had found. He located adhesions and parts of my stomach out of place. A couple of days ago I took all your rdgs. out (which I keep with me at all times) and upon reading them over located exactly what Dr. Kolar had found. I had not paid as much attention to your remarks on stomach adhesions and indigestion and constipation as I had on the parts of my back out of place, so in reading them over again I realized the similarity with Dr. Kolar’s findings.
“The letter you rec’d was forwarded by Mother. I sent it to her and suggested having a rdg. the morning of the operation (4 wks. ago). I suggested she wire you if she approved of it. She thought it too late so just mailed you my letter…
“I still have turns but they are becoming milder and less frequent. But what strengthens me more with confidence in Dr. Kolar’s treating me is what I read in reviewing your rdgs…
“I cannot raise up until Mother Nature heals up my stomach in its new position. But I’ll walk out of here well in a few weeks and the cause will be due to Dr. Kolar taking an interest in you and your work!
“You’ll be lucky if you can read this for I’m lying flat on my back with a hot water bottle on my stomach.”
R6. 5/13/35 Mother, Mrs. [652], requested Ck. Physical for [567], saying Dr. Kolar would submit questions.
R7. 5/17/35 [567]‘s letter: “The other day the doctor walked in and asked me to find out at what hour I was born… Mother doesn’t remember. She suggested I write you for a rdg. to find out (what hour on Dec. 19, 1908?).”
R8. 5/18/35 [567]‘s letter: “Dr. Kolar is quite interested in your work and I believe he wishes a rdg. for one of his patients… I am almost well. I really feel surer of it than I have in eight years. In your rdg. of 2/27 [567-7] you state the trouble exactly as Dr. Kolar found it. He has been working to eliminate these adhesions and said this A.M. that I was far better than he expected I’d be at this time… He has spoken to his assistant about the adjustments along my spine. The work is being done to produce results of your rdgs. In 567-7 you object to the whites of eggs. His dietician disagrees. Will you include this question in rdg.?”
R9. 5/20/35 Father [643]‘s letter: “The notice of the convention this June reminds me that you have been much neglected.
“Am sending a check for
11.00. I can make at least an envelope donation to the good cause for1.00. The $10.00 is on account.“The way has been rough. Not enough cash to carry the family along. I know [567] has written you fully. He was better when I returned from the East and saw him.
“You can know that the clinic at which he is a patient is about the sweetest bunch of pirates I ever saw. ‘Heartless, Godless, Heart’s Delight.’
“I wanted to walk out but was afraid not to go through. Dr. Kolar has evidently had lots of bad experiences. His Asst. Dr. Good, [Fred R. Good, D.C.?] is a fine, big strong lumberman. He says he is a Swiss but I nail him as a Swede.
“I did not shake [567]‘s faith at all as he is still loyal to you. Kolar seems OK. 55 years, beard, all business and the type that would be a surgeon or medic. He is to write some questions. It may be a sort of a test. [567] has preached plenty of sermons to them all about you. They read all your readings. Of course, not being regular medics perhaps, they are more skeptical than others.
“Like the waiter who orders another waiter; they always snap their fingers at them, like a dog. Anyway, here is hoping.
“Wish [567] and I could go to see you in June. I sent the notices to him. He is quitting cigarettes, is a good patient, cheerful and his mental status is MUCH improved. The quick anger has gone. He is a sweet natured one now. For this I am most thankful.
“I have not forgotten you, and your great work. I have not written because I could not enclose a check. The plant has about closed in Chicago.
“I hope you will do your part to help save the country in 1936 and put the handling of things back into the hands of men who know something of executive work and common business sense.
“With ‘love to you and to your Household’ as Opie Read says.” Sincerely, [643]
R10. 5/21/35 [567]‘s letter: “Dr. Kolar just walked in saying he could think of no questions to ask except this one: What time after leaving here will I be able to start working for exercise? He says he will not know, himself, until I am through here how long he will want me to rest.”
