1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. There are many changes in the physical forces of the body since last we had same. Some are for, or towards, improvement. Some have been and are detrimental to the better physical conditions of the body. With the accentuation of congestion in any portion of the system, under the pressures that have existed in the body, there are tendencies for the eliminations to become clogged in directions especially as related to the liver and to those PORTIONS of the body where ACCUMULATIONS gather in the system; as here, in this PARTICULAR period, where we find those that are detrimental in the lacteals, for congestion there prevents the proper assimilation, that would make for rebuilding, and makes for the tendency of the ACUTE pains at times through this REGION of the system, as well as a dull headache, with a metallic taste in the mouth. These make for heaviness in the lower portion of the locomotary system also.

2. We would find, in the present - and under the present conditions - the applications of the body would tend to be more those of the external packs for the body, as would be for the congestion in the liver, in the lacteals, in the spleen, and especially toward the upper portion of the kidneys - across the endrenal region - an alternation between saturated solutions of Epsom Salts packs and the Castor Oil packs, as would be the MOST beneficial. These should not be given in one right after another, but one may be given one day - and the body rest or skip a day, then give the other the next day. The salts packs should be over the lower portion of the spleen area, and over the upper portion of the kidney and the area just below the liver; while the oil packs - when given - which would be as hot as the body can well stand - would be over the whole of the liver area, and the LOWER portion of the LUNG area - see? that is, ABOVE the diaphragm, that we may relieve these pressures. We would ALSO find most HELPFUL to the body the use of the Double X Radium Appliance, or Radium pad, across the solar plexus center of the cerebro-spinal system. This will give a radiation that will PREVENT congestion and make for BETTER eliminations.

3. We would have also those manipulations for the COORDINATION of those forces that are ELIMINATED by the use of the packs.

4. Things taken internally would only be of a sedative or a STIMULATING nature, as may be applied for the nerve forces, in a combination as this:

5. To 4 ounces of simple syrup, add:

Tincture of Valerian…1/2 ounce, Elixir of Calisaya…1/2 ounce, 10% Solution Iodide of Potassium…20 minims, 10% Solution Bromide of Potassium…40 minims, Tincture of Capsici…3 minims.

Shake solution together before the dose is taken, which would be half a teaspoonful when necessary; that is, when the body feels nervous or irritated, or pains in the system, or headaches, or dryness through the throat, or pains in the side, or stomach, or lower abdomen - half a teaspoonful every two or three hours. Do that. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) What is the cause of the absorption of the bone in mouth since extraction of the teeth? (A) This produced by the lack of those forces in the body to PRODUCE that process that is ordinarily found with the structural portion of the body. Lack of the calcium, and of the carbonates in the system. With these conditions added, or the application of these as given, we will find a more equal balancing of the various forces in the system.

7. (Q) What is the cause of infection at times in the nose? (A) Poor circulation to this portion. Such times when the infection becomes as of the nature that needs local attention, use the Yellow Oxide Ointment in a small quantity of absorbant cotton to clarify same, but with the applications - with the stimuli as will be given from the radiation from those radium activities, and those forces in the salts and the oils - these will be corrected. The liver, and ESPECIALLY - as has been indicated - in the lacteals - THIS inflammation prevents the proper distribution of ASSIMILATED forces for system.

8. (Q) What is the cause of the pain in the left breast and under the arm? (A) Those forces from the lacteals producing a drying of the tissue that is supplied to those muscular forces TO the body from the general system.

9. That is all the questions.

10. Do this, do as we have outlined for this body, and we will soon find decided improvements.

R1. 4/1/31 EC’s letter to [5686]‘s husband, re. pre-organization meeting of A.R.E.:

I feel sure you are anxious to know about our meeting last Saturday. I’m not going to give you full details at present, as everything was taken down and will later be sent to all who express a desire to know the details of the meeting.

We had a very enthusiastic meeting. In all, there were thirty-three present. The purposes and aims were discussed, rather than ways and means. This is to be left for the organization meeting. A committee was appointed to draft resolutions on aims and purposes. This committee was headed by Dr. Paul Kaufman, which in itself insured proper scientific consideration. The outline of this committee’s report was adopted. This, however, is to be expanded upon and also sent to all interested. It was the consensus of opinion of all present that the work should continue, and I personally feel that it will be established on a more satisfactory basis than ever before.

I am thanking you for your interest, hoping that when we do have the organization meeting you may be here in person - or that we may have your report in full.

R2. 4/9/31 Mrs. [5686]‘s husband’s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce;

Answering your favor of April 1st. I regretted very much not being able to attend the meeting you invited me to attend but a very trying cold of considerable duration together with pressure of my business made it inadvisable that I should attempt the trip.

I am delighted to hear that this preliminary meeting was successful and enthusiastic, and I am very interested to have a copy of the details in full, and will thank you if at your convenience you will furnish me a copy as you so thoughtfully offered to do in your letter.

If you will kindly give me notice I want to attend your next meeting and will do so unless providentially prevented.

I feel great interest in your work and hope your friends will encourage and uphold you to your complete satisfaction.

R3. 4/10/31 EC’s letter to Mrs. [5686]‘s husband:

My dear Mr. […]

As promised when the readings and notice of the meeting on the 29th were sent, the findings of that group who gathered here - as to aims and purposes - are being mailed to you herewith.

To be sure, it is not my purpose to burden you with the details of what happened at the meeting, but to give you in just as concise form as possible the reactions of those present - for each one responded in person the same as you did by letter.

As outlined in the information, why the work should be carried on - and the purpose for carrying on - was discussed rather than HOW it was to be done; for if any of them had found it an impractical thing, then the purposes and aims must either be very material or very insignificant. So, I believe the ideals and purposes are set forth very definitely

• but this is to be your organization, and if there is anything that you feel should be added to, or taken from this purpose or ideal, please don’t hesitate to write me, that this may be given due and proper consideration.

Now, as for the name - there were a great many suggested. As the information had given, it gave again that afternoon that the name chosen should carry in it the purposes AND ideals. The one most popular was that suggested to an individual in the information as representing a portion of his approach to the work, which was “Association of Research and Enlightenment”. This has not been chosen, and I don’t think the name will be chosen until the aims and purposes are accepted by each individual. So, we are asking YOU to cast the lot as to WHAT should be the name, if you are accepting the aims and purposes here set forth - and choose a name that YOU feel should have consideration and send it to us.

Also the consideration of a manager - there were quite a number of individuals suggested. If finally narrowed down to three - Linden Shroyer, Hugh Lynn Cayce, and Rudolph C. Ady. A reading was taken, asking that the information be definite as to which one of these would be the better. The information states that they ALL have their place in the work. I personally feel (though a subsequent reading has not been taken) that the work will evolve itself into a GENERAL manager and what may be termed a PERSONAL manager, Ady, no doubt, filling that position of personal manager - while a general manager would have supervision over various departments outlined, and, no doubt, will be chosen later.

The manager, however, has not been chosen, and is still open for suggestions from you.

Now, it has not been determined just when the organization meeting will be called. We are trying not to go too fast, and not too slow. We would like for every individual interested to do as the information suggested at the meeting on the 28th - try the ideals on our individual selves. If it will work with us, it will work with others. If it is impractical with us, it will be impractical with others. If it is vague to us, it will be vague to others. If it is helpful to us, it will be helpful to others.

Then, write me again - suggesting a time when you feel that the meeting should be called, and any suggestions or criticisms (if they are constructive) that you have to offer.

I assure you again that I only want to be a channel of help to others. I am not trying to build an altar or memorial to myself, or to any of my immediate family. I’m asking for nothing for myself, other than - if you have found your association with the work or the phenomena helpful - will you lend your moral support and what financial aid you may care to contribute to the carrying on of the work?

R4. 8/4/31 A.R.E. Chairman of Board of Trustees’ form letter:

I have the honor to inform you that the Charter and By-Laws of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. have been fully accepted and organization completed by the Board of Trustees, and it is now functioning as a corporate body to assist in carrying on and building on a solid foundation the work as manifested through Mr. Edgar Cayce; and to do this it must be placed upon a sound, spiritual and material basis in the shortest possible time.

As an old friend of Mr. Edgar Cayce and of the work he is doing, we know that you are interested in moulding a permanent organization, and this requires vision and imagination. We must, first, have the knowledge of our power; second, the courage to dare; third, the faith to do.

Nothing can be accomplished without the necessary funds to realize our ideals, and with this in mind we appeal to you to enroll as an Active Member, Class “E” (see enclosed application form), making your contribution as liberal as your purse will allow.

Counting on your spiritual understanding to support the great purposes that your Association stands for, we remain
