GC: You will give the physical conditions of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the relief and improvement of same, and you will answer the questions I shall ask you regarding same.
-
EC: We have the body here. The conditions, while not satisfactory, show some change, and these - with the constant application under those properties or conditions where - in the infection is shown, where the teeth were removed - will bring about the normal forces as regarding the troubles there. As long as the dis-ease is present there maybe know that infection is present, from that as causes the pressure through the condition in that of decay, or of the pus forming. This, as we see, offers then a very unusual and rather a serious condition for THIS body, UNDER the conditions which the body has labored for some time. Infection is easy, as has been seen and as has been given, in the physical forces of this body. There was given that these properties of the fig applied would draw off those poisons, and these would. These are prepared special for the dental profession, and may be obtained through such supply houses as white of Atlanta, or of Birmingham, Nashville, or Louisville, or St. Louis, or Chicago, see? A. S. White Dental Supplies. These would act more efficient by those portions that show decay being removed, than by direct OPERATION, for TOO EASILY does infection re-occur, and too easily do the conditions over the body absorb sympathetically those are are set forth in the system. Be careful. Be warned. Keep antiseptics, and take as much precaution as possible with these conditions.
-
(Q) Which is the best antiseptic to use for the mouth? (A) Listerine or Glyco-Thymoline, for both of these are NOT acid, and the body reaction IS acid, so that opposite or alkaline is much better than acid antiseptic for the body - though it may become necessary to burn, or cauterize these conditions to prevent spread of infection.
-
(Q) Is there pus in the bone? (A) Pus in the bone. Pus in the bone - the formation comes from the infection as from the soft spongy bone in this portion of the action of those properties ABOUT - that is, the flesh portions about - is to heal normally, but the infection is from within. Hence scrape the bone, or scrape out those portions that are diseased.
-
(Q) Not necessary for the operation through the nose as the doctor seems to think? (A) Not as we see it at present would it be BEST, for these troubles and conditions as have been with the eyes, and with the nose here in former times and conditions, this would only add to the fire as is created in the system.
-
(Q) As Nashville is the closest city, will you give the address where - (A) We have given it! We are through!
[BEST TO SCRAPE BONE TO REMOVE DECAY CAUSING INFECTION KEEP UP ANTISEPTICS AND THE SAME KIND FIG POULTICE MAY BE OBTAINED FROM DENTAL SUPPLY HOUSE WHITES SUPPLIES.]
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/16/27 “I am under many obligations to you for your trouble and I surely am grateful… I can’t for the life of me remember what name Dr. Ezell had for the cheekbone - anyway that’s where he said the pus was, and wanted to open those little cells by going in through the nose. Dr. House said I certainly was right not to let him do such a thing. That part of my face has gotten entirely easy now, for the abscess broke and I got rid of it without his help. But the trouble in gums has never healed as it should. I went in to Dr. Flener yesterday and simply told him I knew there was an infection there and sure enough he said so too, and scraped the bone without a word. I don’t believe I ever had anything to hurt me as bad - I thought he was pulling out a piece of the root - he never even put anything in my gum to deaden it. I was so sick I thought I would never be able to get home, and I went to bed as soon as I did get home. He wants me to come back tomorrow. I asked him about this fig preparation and he had never heard of it. Brother […] was here and said he will go all over B’ham (Ala.) until he finds it… My head has been in a terrible shape all day, feel just like I was whirling and so dizzy I could hardly hold my eyes open.”
R2. 11/27/27 “I’m feeling lots better again.”
R3. 3/2/28 See 569-15 for neuritis in left shoulder and arm.
Background
Background
B1. See 569-13 on 9/28/27 for neuralgia of face and head due to (she thought) abscessed tooth.
B2. 10/8/27 “I have never gotten any relief yet in my face - had two jaw teeth taken out and the place where the first one was taken out is hurting me as bad as it did before the tooth was out. Dr. Flener is puzzled - said the places were healing nicely and simply couldn’t see why I was still suffering with my face. So he took me up to Dr. Ezell’s office and he put me through a rigid examination, made an x-ray of my face, also examined my eyes for some more glasses. He said the trouble was in the bone (had a name for it) - said there was pus there and the only relief would be from an operation, which would be a slight one done through the nose. So if you say so I’ll have it done, if not I won’t… The misery runs to my ear; in fact that whole side of my head hurts. When I waked this a.m. I could hardly open my mouth to speak. I am using all kinds of antiseptics, such as Listerine, Glyco-Thymoline, and holding hot salt to my face most all the time. Have to keep it to my face most all night. I simply can’t get the figs anywhere in this town, and the drug stores never heard of the fig preparation (recommended in 569-13).”
