This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 9th day of July, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self, through Mrs. [538], Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [569]; this we have had before.

2. As we find, conditions are somewhat improved. While the eliminations have been increased and the toxic forces in the general system have been eliminated so as to make for better reactions, especially in that assimilated for the supplying of the blood, there has been a localizing of conditions in portions of the body - that calls for or produces distresses.

3. If the treatments that have been indicated are in the main followed along, and the adjustments in the upper dorsal and the cervical area COORDINATED to produce better drainages from the head and neck, we would find - with the keeping of the eliminations in an excess - the disorders or disturbances in the head would be MATERIALLY eradicated.

4. We would, then, continue with the use of the Ash as indicated. We would use the violet ray just after this has been taken, some ten to fifteen minutes after taking the Ash, using it for three to five minutes especially over the frontal portion of lungs and over the lower portion in the back and along the spine - from three to five minutes.

5. The diathermy we would keep for periods sufficient to so enliven the nerve system and the impulses along the blood flow as to enliven the walls, as it were, of the nerve and the blood supplying or accompanying activity along the CENTRAL nerve system.

6. For the local condition in the head and ear, we would cleanse these with a mild antiseptic and use the compound of St. Jacob’s oil in same, which will remove the stress - but the drainages should be set up by the manipulations and the corrections - upper dorsal, from the 4th to the 1st, and throughout the cervical area, as to make for DRAINAGES from the system, or from the head INTO the general system through the circulation relieving the pressures and giving the flow of blood supply to that portion of the body, see?

7. The teeth that show the greater disorder in the LOWER, we would then take out some of these; not all of them, to be sure, but those where the pockets are showing that the pus accumulates; and the drainages will aid in carrying these conditions away. Local applications will not remove all the disorder there. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Is bedtime the best time to take the Ash? (A) Well, we would take it before going to bed; be things to be done after taking it, and these best can be done not in bed but before you get in bed!

9. (Q) How long should the Al-Caroid and Bile Salts be continued? (A) As long as necessary to keep the eliminations, so that they WILL make for an increase in the eliminations, you see. Of course, the powders will be taken after meals, to reduce the acidity. The Caroid will be taken for the eliminations to be increased, and to keep the bile ducts or the activities of the pancreas, spleen, acting WITH the eliminations in the system; assisting also - with the Caroids - to make for cleansing the kidneys.

10. (Q) Should diathermy treatment be shortened from twenty to fifteen minutes? (A) This would be alright, provided that these are kept until - we don’t want to overstrain these - it would be better to take them for periods, and then have rest periods.

11. (Q) How many should be taken before rest periods? (A) About half the number.

12. (Q) Are the adjustments and manipulations being given too strong? (A) As indicated, these should be more for setting up drainages from the head and neck, and these may be done better by coordinating the pressures and the segments in their positions from the 4th dorsal to the 1st cervical; for where there is a tendency for a pressure to prevent the normal flow of a revivified or revivifying circulation it allows accumulations, as indicated in the areas where distresses are shown in the present.

13. (Q) Would it be better to have any of the teeth treated? (A) As indicated. Some of the lower ones should be removed, and others should be treated.

14. (Q) Which special lower ones? (A) As indicated, those where the pockets or pus show and are not being absorbed or eliminated by the applications for the eliminating of disorders in the system.

15. (Q) Is the body in a condition now to begin having some teeth removed? (A) When these conditions in the head are alleviated somewhat.

16. (Q) Any other advice that would be of help or benefit to the body? (A) The diet, as outlined, should be alkalin rather than acid forming.

R1. 7/19/34 “I was rather pleased with the last rdg. with the exception of one thing, and that was that the local treatments wouldn’t help prolong the life of my teeth. The treatments Dr. Sargent has given me have certainly helped me. I’m telling you I have gone through the hottest weather I ever experienced… I am taking my last tr. tomorrow, he thinks I should take another ten treatments but I don’t feel like I can - it is so hot and I have such a time getting there and back I just wonder that they have helped me at all, and you know they cost me $15. Right now Mama [1795] is having almost all she can do, as the expenses have all fallen on her to pay, and I just can’t ask…(brother) to do everything. Now, I’m not going to have my teeth taken out yet, but I am going to have this tooth that Dr. Flener put in for me some 3-4 yrs. ago treated, for I believe it has caused all this trouble. Dr. Flener seems to think my bad health has caused it. He asked me if I didn’t have diabetes. I never in my life (that I know of) ever had any trouble that way. I have been to several doctors (I don’t mean lately), and Dr. Stites was the last - he had me bring a specimen of my urine which he said was perfect. If anything like diabetes has developed it is a very late thing, and you never mentioned it in my rdg. I do know this - I don’t drink as much water as I should. I am trying my best… Dr. Sargent said these treatments would help this skin trouble I have, but you should see me - it couldn’t be much worse unless it was on my face and hands. My feet and ankles are a sight - something I’ve never had before. I’m just wondering why it is so bad, for I don’t eat much - I never feel hungry. I eat one piece of tomato for breakfast, an egg and a piece of whole wheat toast. Real funny, I have almost turned against biscuits, and I have almost stopped drinking coffee - I drink one cup for breakfast… I often wonder just what will become of me. You know this old world is a good world after all, and yet when we get so blue we just think, well, is it worth living after all.”

B2. 7/3/34 “I believe I feel a little better, but still I have suffered with my ears until I have almost lost my mind. They are so sore outside and inside that I can’t bear to touch them. I have to wash them with cotton and then it nearly kills me. I can’t imagine why I have so many things happen to me all at once. I hardly get over having the boil in one ear when now my other one is getting in the same condition - such shooting pains it almost takes my breath. I haven’t had my tr. this wk. as Dr. Sargent is moving his office… I’m sorry to have such a break right now, for my treatments were helping me so much. I began taking adjustments Fri…he almost killed me… I thought I would never get down those steps to the street I was hurting so bad. I always come home and go to bed. I just feel so weak and bad for a while.”
