This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 12th day of January, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [569], Associate Member of the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

2. As we find, conditions are not so good. There is being a segregation or accumulation in the organs of the pelvis that is gradually involving them in a destructive manner.

3. As to whether the body is sufficiently able in its vital forces and energies to undergo operative measures would be, from here, questionable. This must be decided by the body and those making the administrations.

4. But as has been warned, these conditions - while segregating - are influences throughout the body, and might prove, with the weakness, to shorten rather than to lengthen the abilities of body and mind and soul to coordinate.

5. As we find, an alternative would be the administration of very minute doses of Animated Ash, taken dry on tongue, in combination with the Ultra-Violet; these taken once each day, one-eighth grain of the Ash, and then in ten to twelve minutes, after swallowing with a little water, the Ultra-Violet applied. This in itself, however, may prove to be too drying, and may necessitate changes in the distance the Ultra-Violet is put from the body. And it should be at least thirty inches to begin with, and not applied more than a minute or minute and a half. And be careful that this does not burn the body. The injection of the green light between the ultra-violet and the body would be beneficial.

6. These as we find, with taking of oil - as the Russian White Oil, or Usoline, or Nujol - or those combinations of oil with agar (as Petrolagar, Agarol, etc.) may prove to be helpful.

7. Do those, IF it is decided NOT to operate.

9. (Q) What can the body take to relieve intense pain in side? (A) Only narcotics. The Painodyne or such natures are preferable. These, of course, tend to slow the movement of the intestinal system activity, but the oils may be able to overcome same.

10. (Q) Should the packs be discontinued? (A) We would discontinue these, if it brings anxiety. They have been applied most too moist.

11. (Q) Should I continue the Eno Salts and Pepsin? (A) We would discontinue this if we are to take the oils, for the Eno - of course - while a fruit salts, is a mineral.

12. (Q) What has caused this condition, and has it become a tumor? (A) An accumulation of poisons from general conditions that have been indicated, and it has formed into a lymph tumor. That it may become of a nature, or has formed into a nature already as to set up an activity within itself, is also indicated. Thus, as given, as to whether the body would attempt to undergo operative forces must be chosen by the body. And that as given is an alleviative and not a curative measure, but is as a preventative measure and - as we find - may in itself NOT respond, except for a little while.

13. (Q) Why do I have to suffer so? (A) Much might be given as respecting such a question. This would require that all of those activities be reviewed that have brought those disturbances of every nature in the earth. Know, even as He, though He were the Son, yet learned HE obedience through the things which He suffered. No servant is above his Master. Ye are one with Him. Know that His strength, His love, His might, will be with thee all the way - if ye trust wholly in Him.

R1. 2/10/43 Mrs. [2921]‘s letter: “[569] was operated on at 8:30 A.M. this morning… [419] and I have been at the hospital all day. She stood the operation fine (I hope). Don’t think it helped any, but that was what she wanted to have done. They found what we all were afraid of.”

R2. 3/17/43 Mrs. [340]‘s letter: “[1508] was in … a few days ago, [569] seemed to be getting along better than one could expect. Said she was up and while he was there walked out in the yard a little, trying to regain her strength, though she still suffers with her side, and she can’t understand that.”

R3. 4/5/43 [569]‘s letter: “I’m not able to write for I’m suffering almost more than I can bear. I can’t see that I’m a bit better now than I was before my operation, though I’m rid of that tumor. I feel so sorry and worried for you both - [in re boys in army, etc.] I know you have your hands full and I am ashamed to ask you for anything, but I’m just getting worse every day. What I’m doing I can’t see is helping me at all, only just for a little while. If you can spare a few minutes, won’t you please give me a ck. rdg. Maybe you could tell me something to do that hasn’t been done. I’m taking everything from Russian Oil, Milk of Magnesia, Eno Salts, prune juice, grapefruit, orange juice, to Painodynes, Aspirin, Anacin, and Dr. Dade gave me something too - I don’t know what. I should get some relief but I don’t. I take one of these every night when I go to bed, with a bottle of Coca Cola. I also take Alka-Seltzer after I eat…it seems to give me a great deal of relief - ask if there is anything of a malignant type there - I suffer so with my kidneys. They act every 5 minutes during the night and I most die from pain - have to take something to ease me. From the way my legs ache I know there is an awful pressure somewhere - it may be my womb. I can’t stand on my feet very long. I never eat a meal that I’m not in intense agony. I think sometimes it would have been better if I could have just gone on when I had the operation, for I’m not getting any better, and I’ve suffered like this for so long I know I can’t stand it much longer.”

B2. 1/8/43 “Since I had the rdg. I have been suffering death, almost, with my side. I have taken the packs as told but keeping these hot packs on for 2-3 hours, trying to dry them as directed, gave me such a cold I stopped them for day or two - so far I haven’t seen any improvement, and having to keep under the influence of Painodynes. I would die with pain if I didn’t have something to take. I have felt all along I had an abscess or something in my left side, so today I had [1005] to take me in to see Dr. Dade [Randolph Dade, M.D.]. He put me through an awfully painful examination - I had a hard rigor while up in his office. He told me that all the doctors and all the medicine I could take wouldn’t help me one bit. He said I had a tumor on one of the tubes in my side. He told me to go to Dr. Gaither [Gant Gaither, M.D.] for another examination - said he would tell me exactly what to do - wanted me to go at once - the sooner I went the better it would be for me, for the longer I put it off the worse it would be…You know I have implicit faith in you. I’m so afraid of an operation and that’s what seems to be hanging over me.”

B3. 1/8/43 Aunt [710]‘s ltr.: “[569] has cancer. Dr. Dade said the only doubtful hope was surgery - that’s why he referred her to Dr. Gaither.”
