This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the A.R.E., Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 14th day of April, 1943, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [569], Associate Member of the A.R.E.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [569]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions are grave - and serious.
-
As we find, only the administration of narcotics, or hypnotics, is indicated; and we would increase especially the hypnotic - such as Luminal or the like; but, to be sure, under the direction of the physician.
-
These have come as indicated, that might have proved better if there could have been the use of the ultra-violet] light.
-
There might be had some aid in relief if there would be prepared in the present a very strong magnet, this encased in metal - as German Silver and this applied over the area in the abdomen where there are those great pains, and especially when there is the desire for urination, or the action of the bladder and kidneys. This applied for a little space at a time, not too long, will aid in relief. It will dry the accumulations, it will delay activity of those inroads being made by the accumulations.
-
Do that.
-
(Q) Can this instrument be obtained anywhere, or will it have to be made? (A) Have to be made. There’s no such made at present. [See 569-28, Par. R5 and R6.]
-
(Q) What diet is best in the present? (A) Whatever will agree best with the body, and whatever it desires give it.
-
(Q) Would a little elm in the water be helpful? (A) Stop the burning in the stomach; it will aid too, of course, the activity of the kidneys.
-
(Q) Any further suggestions for help? (A) These as we find offer the greater help, or relief - not curative, in the present.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/21/43 Her Aunt [760]‘s letter to EC: ”…[569] is asleep (unusual for her). Have to keep her under morphine night and day and even then is near crazy. I have heard of living skeletons, but have never seen one before. I just don’t know why the bones don’t come through. She has gotten too sick now to sit up - has such deathly sick spells twice in the last few days I thought she was gone; even milk sickens her now.
Saturday she threw up a bloody mucus all day, but Dr. Dade gave her something that stopped that. She has spells of cramping all over from head to foot - the muscles in her legs jerk, till she shakes the bed. I have just never seen such intense suffering… She [569] had such a bad night and terrible spell this morning. Suffers terribly all the time, but at times looks like she will lose her mind. Says she is burning up. I have been putting cold cloths over her stomach and bowels all day. I am sure it does help but morphine don’t seem to relieve any of the pain. She can’t sit up to even drink her milk, yet when one of those terrible spells of suffering comes she comes right out of the bed, but of course have to get her right back…”
R2. Letter from [1005] to EC: ”…P.S. [569] isn’t doing any good. Dr. Gaither said that a dropsical condition has developed recently. She has considerable swelling in abdomen. Don’t think personally that she has much time left.”
R3. 10/29/43 EC had a wire that Miss [569] had passed on.
R4. 11/22/43 Mr. [1005]‘s wife, Mrs. [23]‘s letter: “Bless her heart, she isn’t suffering now - but it’s hard to give her up, even knowing that she is much better off.”
R5. See Source File Key #569 for reports, supplements and commentaries which [according to GD] may have some relevancy to the type of magnet EC recommended in 569-28.
R6. 6/10/73 Virginian-Pilot article:
New Technique - Cancer-Tumor ‘Dryup’ Cuts High-Risk Surgery
STANFORD, Calif. (UPI) - A technique of “drying up” certain cancer tumors without high-risk surgery has been announced by a Stanford University Linear Accelerator science team.
The development was aided by the creation of a 6x8-inch “super-conducting” magnet, 20,000 times more powerful than the magnetic field surrounding the earth.
Dr. Steven J. St. Lorant, head of the team, said Saturday they are optimistic that the magnet’s development will end high-risk operations on tumors fed by a distinct blood supply.
“What we needed was a magnet small enough to wheel up to the patient and powerful enough to do the job from outside the body,” said Dr. Robert W. Rand, a UCLA neurosurgeon.
The magnet is used to place an iron-silicon alloy in blood vessels which feed cancerous tumors. The idea is an offshoot of a technique used to cure aneurysms, which are weakened, ballooning sections of blood vessels.
The original technique called for the placement of ordinary bar magnets close to the aneurysm. The magnets were placed through such high-risk surgery as drilling holes in the patient’s skull and attracting iron filings inserted into blood vessels. The filings caused the blood to clot, strengthening the vessel wall.
The technique recently developed at Stanford will eliminate the need for placing the magnets through surgery. The clot cuts off the blood supply to the tumor, causing it to “dry up.”
The first human patient upon whom the new technique was used was considered a terminal cancer case, Rand said. “The patient refused surgery, though the cancer on his tongue was very uncomfortable and made it hard to talk,” he added.
However, after the operation, the tumor “literally dried up, and he was able to speak clearly,” Rand said.
Background
Background
B1. 1/12/43 She obtained 569-27 for cancerous tumor of the uterus, for which the doctor offered only the doubtful hope of surgery. The rdg. advised ultraviolet lights and the Ash, Petrolagar laxative, saying these were only alleviative measures, not curative, and she should decide herself whether or not to have the surgery.
B2. 2/10/43 Mrs. [2921] wrote: “[569] was operated on at 8:30 this a.m… [419] and I have been at the hospital all day… Don’t think it helped any, but that was what she wanted to have done. They found what they were afraid of.”
B3. 4/5/43 She herself wrote requesting another reading, saying: “I’ve suffered like this for so long I know I can’t stand it much longer.”
