This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of July, 1927, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. […].

1. GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body as I ask them.

2. EC: We have those conditions as surround this body. Here we find the illustration of that as has been given, the necessity of the preparation of such a place wherein many may obtain the knowledge and the understanding of the application of those things spiritual and mental in the lives of individuals, that better physical conditions may recur from same, and through this means individual development be attained through the experiences in the physical plane [GD: I think EC is referring here to the need for the Cayce Hospital to be available].

3. In these conditions as are seen, not a misapplication so much of the information or intent as is given, but the mis-UNDERSTANDING of that intended to be applied to and for the physical and mental conditions of this body. Hence would that one in charge here have studied - through those sources that may be made plausible, feasible, reasonable, and in keeping with the tenets of the inmost forces of that individual, in applying self to the well-being of the incidents in the lives of individuals as apply to their physical being - and through this study would this individual gain the better knowledge, the better understanding. Follow, then, in that way. Ready for questions - though these [above suggestions] may apply to that that may be applied to OTHERS, rather than to the individual itself as questioned concerning.

4. (Q) Please explain just which form of electrical treatment or current this body should have, and just how it should be applied to the body. (A) That current should have been applied that is of the making from the electrical forces of the body itself APPLYING same, or electromagnetic forces, as is made by the body applying same radiating same from its own energy of the body, and not by mechanical or by any static or creative energy outside the human body. By the storing of energy in self and by the rubbing of hands force the body to that state wherein heat and vibration may be radiated to another body. Such a form was necessary to this body, [5702], see? and the strength and vitality that radiates from such a body is that as was necessary for the better physical being of the body.

5. (Q) How often should the treatments be given? (A) At least twice each day, and kept up for the period of the strength and vitality of the individual apply same - through the hand itself - to the base of brain, and to the solar plexus center. Hence the PSYCHO-therapy - not the physical therapy, for one is of the mental, the other of material basis, see?

6. (Q) Would artificial sunlight treatments help? (A) These, of course, would prove beneficial in the clarification of the blood supply, as would the electrified forces from pine breathed into the lungs have proved beneficial.

7. (Q) If the case is prevented from dying, and should the baby improve physically as you state in your reading, will the MENTAL condition be cured as well? (A) There would have been added to the mental that as would have been added to the physical - same as is seen - necessary for psycho-emanation, or psychic emanation, from the individual applying the vibratory forces to the body, as well as that of any mechanical assistance through sunlight or artificial sunlight, or of vibratory forces thrown off from properties that clarify through its radiation of inhalation, as also in building in the physical such a body adds to the mental and to the sensory forces of a body.

Study these conditions - for these are as those forces that the body may know, not only in the material forces exterior from a physical being, but those forces from WITHIN of a physical being is [are] radiated to the body to be assisted, physically, mentally, morally, spiritually - for these are as the BASIS of such treatments.

R1. 9/14/27 Mother’s letter: “I regret very much to inform you that after following your reading on our baby we find no improvement of any kind. You ask us to keep in touch with you regarding the condition of our baby and how she is getting along and I had hoped to write you better news than this, but it seems as though that it is God’s will that our baby cannot get well, so we have no ill feelings towards you, as you did your best, but to no avail. If you have any further suggestions to make, we would be very glad to hear from you. Hoping to hear some encouraging news from you, I remain as ever, a broken-hearted mother.”

R2. 9/20/27 EC’s letter:

Dear Mrs. […] [[5702]‘s mother]:

Replying to yours of the 14th, I am sorry indeed to note what you have to say regarding the condition of the little girl. I hardly know just what suggestion to offer you under the existing circumstances. As I’m sure you already realize, it is for just such conditions that we are trying to establish or build the institution, where the suggestions that are given may be followed not only from month to month but from day to day, and thus study the conditions very closely. Of course this is impossible to do with me in Virginia Beach and you in your position in Cincinnati - but we will [would] be very glad [again] to try and be of help. If you would have your physician prepare a list of questions himself, possibly this would be the very best way under the circumstances to see what can be done. I do know from experience there have been several cases [helped] where conditions seemed just as hopeless as this; where the readings might be followed up every day it makes quite a difference. You will note one such case [2473] in the little pamphlet I am sending you, which was reported [in papers] from your own town. You will also note in the report it was given that this was followed up every day or two. I only wish we were prepared to follow this up in the same way and manner.
