This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of March, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - [5735].

[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce and Dr. T. B. House. Dr. and Mrs. Meredith came in about the middle of it.]

Time of Reading 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Chicago, Illinois.

1. GC: You will give a physical, mental and spiritual reading for this body, with suggestions for improvement of any or all of these.

2. EC: Now, we find there are unusual potentialities that surround this body, whether considered from the physical, the mental, or the spiritual attributes of the body.

3. With the physical condition of the body we find there are those existent forces that should be heeded, or warnings made as reference to the outcome of those conditions were they allowed to remain in their present way of functioning; for through same there is constant strain being brought to bear, that the physical reactions will not always bear with, and the usefulness of the body - mentally and spiritually - would be retarded, and not reach that which might be accomplished through the physical experience of the body.

4. There are many conditions to be considered in the physical forces of this body.

5. One of the greatest of the hindrances to the body is FEAR. Not of others; not of mental ability; not of that which the body desires - but fear in the physical innate forces of the body; and while often one’s outlook upon life is altered by the conditions of the liver, or of the digestive system, in THIS particular body - while these conditions exist; that is, hindrances in the digestive system and particularly in the eliminations as are influenced through the excretory system, especially in lack of proper secretions as come from the liver - to THIS particular body - (FEAR produces almost as much harmful effects to this particular physical condition), from that as has been experienced from the relations of the body physical to those of family conditions, and environmental forces, that these fears bring that which produces - in this highly developed MENTAL body (as far as nerves go) - that of a detrimental effect in giving its best, either physical OR mental, in application to the knowledge as is known by the body for the good of self.

6. Then, in meeting the needs of the physical forces of the body, these would - necessarily - be taken into consideration (this FEAR).

7. While there may be applied that for the body that will overcome physically those deficiencies, yet unless that basic force, as is present in the fear of the body, is REMOVED, these would certainly return to hinder the body again.

8. As is also seen in purely physical conditions as exist in the lower limbs - the feet, the head, the lack of eliminations proper, as show through the condition in scalp, as of the eye, as of the auditory forces - these all show the effect, NOT so much of physical defects as of fear, or of the constant retaining within self that which gives - as it were - POISONS to the system, THROUGH that as held against self and as against others; for FEAR creates anger; anger creates that in a system hindering digestion, giving the blood such impulses that the proper digestion is not POSSIBLE within the system - either that of grudge or of the desire to succumb under the influence of ANY force by impelling self upon others, or of the fear held as grudge against another for either that of a wrong intentional or unintentional thing done against self or others.

9. Then, to meet the conditions, this must be cast entirely out of system - THEN add that in the physical that will RELIEVE these conditions, and we will find a strong body, builded well in every portion of same, giving that channel through which the mental and spiritual forces, as attend this material body, may manifest the better elements and better forces for the benefit and service of self and others.

10. In casting out same, replace rather that of grudge, desire and of hatred, and of kindred conditions, with the LOVE of the Master - even as the body has proclaimed, and does proclaim, in WORDS, to others - but has ever felt that the whole understanding was not within self; but PERFECT love casteth out fear, and the perfect love is only founded in Him that gave Himself a ransom for many; Who thought it not robbery to be equal with God, yet made of Himself no estate that He might take on Himself the sins of the world and show to man that acceptable way that man, himself, might approach that kingdom; and being found perfect in body and in mind, became equal with that creative force that gives to every man the chance of escape from HIMSELF!

11. And when this fear is cast out, add THIS physically to the body:

Ambrosia weed (dried)…3 ounces, added to 16 ounces of water.

Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to 1/2 the quantity. Strain while warm and add:

Beet Sugar…4 ounces, dissolved in 1 ounce of hot water.

Add then:

Grain Alcohol…2 ounces, with Balsam of Tolu…2 drams, cut in it.

12. Shake well together before each dose is taken, which should be half (1/2) teaspoonful AFTER each meal. Do not take unless the meal is eaten. Do not over eat. Do not purge self from any of those elements that bring the better conditions for the body through proper eliminations in system.

13. Not necessary that these be taken unless self has set self aright from poisoning self with the refuses of the own body.

14. In the mental forces of the body, here we find - as has been given - an unusual ability in dissemination; yet little of coordination with that as has been attained or known by the body. This would be well for the body to consider:

15. That, Life is in that way of continuity; and Life is ALL; and no one portion of Life is the whole; for Life is that given of the SPIRIT; and the Soul is as the individual. The mental - whether that of a sensuous consciousness or of the super, or the objective consciousness - is the Builder; and that BUILDED, whether in the physical or soul body, is the Result.

16. Just as has been given regarding the physical conditions of the body. While the body, apparently, may have the appearance of strong physical conditions; yet there may be, within, that which is constantly eating at the very foundation of that manifested physically - and the same with the soul body, or the mental body, that may be so directed - through the application of that given as the companion with the soul (the will) - as to make the individual One WITH the Whole, or separate it from its Maker; for LIFE is the gift of the Creator, and one makes that life through the application of that known - not through that desired, but that KNOWN - and IN the application attains TO that which gives either the perfect physical forces, whether as referring to the mental or the material body.

17. In spiritual essence, the entity has that ability to attune self to many consciousnesses. Be guided by that which brings self to be the servant of many, in that way as He gave, that “God IS Spirit and seeks such to worship Him.” Remembering that in that same way and manner that the life is guided by these various consciousnesses, (and the will of self controls in every effort that one makes through same) self is attuned to the full consciousness, or separates self - even as was given of old, “I have this day set before you good and evil - Choose THOU whom thou wilt serve!” Say not, who shall ascend into heaven to bring Him down? or, who shall descend into the depths? for the God lives in thee, even in thine OWN SELF, and my WILL, my SPIRIT, beareth witness with Thy Spirit - not someone else’s! THY SPIRIT! as to whether thou hast chosen, do choose, or WILL choose, that which will bring thine own self in attunement to that Whole.

R1. 3/27/28 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [5735]: “I enclose, herewith, the information gotten in your rdg. this morning. I certainly hope that you will find this instructive and worth while to you. I realize you have been, and are, a student of such phenomena and possibly will be better able to judge that herein given than many another such information has been given for. Consequently, I shall be very anxious to know just what you get from same, as to whether you are able to get from it that which will be of aid in any manner or form. I shall appreciate your writing me fully. Should there be any questions you would desire to ask me concerning same, I shall be glad to give you my humble interpretation to the best of my ability. As I said to you both, after you have studied this over and if Mr. Baker then desires that an appointment be made for him I shall be very glad to do so, if either of you feel that I may possibly be able to give information that will be helpful in any way. I realize that if you do not feel this, neither I nor yourself have the time to be bothered with us. Please let me have your candid opinion, and oblige.

R2. 4/7/28 [5735]‘s ltr. to EC: “I received the rdg. from you for some time ago and I thank you for the same from the bottom of my heart. I have studied it over and over again and what was perhaps rather hard to grasp from the start dawned on me more and more. For instance where it was said I had a ‘fear’ I now realize is a result of the attitude my mind took when being a ‘reformer’ (for 4 yrs. Editor of a weekly paper) I delighted in picking flaws both among religious organizations and in the political field. That caused my mind to get ‘sour’ and even if the motive may have been ever so good it had its harmful effect. Now then I have concluded to make this a turning point to the better for both myself and others. When a preacher I got under that ‘sour’ influence and I realized that was enough to cut short my usefulness. However, it was better for me to be out of it than to turn into a hypocrite.

“As to my physical condition at present the description is correct. Some 28 yrs. ago I went through typhoid fever and that was partly caused by a previously run-down condition due to some liver trouble, then added to that came some maltreatment by a student-doctor at the hospital which aggravated the trouble, causing still poorer elimination.

“Now I have at length told that part of my experience, which fully corroborates the rdg. What seems to bother me more than anything else just now is a species of insomnia that I cannot account for except that it is due to the same cause as the other.

“Thank you for your unselfish interest and the time and trouble you have had in giving my rdg. and listening to my answer, and I hope with the help of the Lord it may prove invaluable to me as it has opened my eyes to see many things in a different light.

“God bless you and your work. I believe you are on the right track. And if I at any time should be able to do anything I am willing to take a hand in it.”

R3. 5/7/28 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [5735]: “Yours of the 7th received. I appreciate your letter, and thank you for same.

“Only to be of service is our purpose, and if through me there has been offered anything that will make life more understandable, more worth while to you, then I count the time well spent. I believe too many of us fail to gather the real import of the words of the Master when He said, ‘As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them,’ or when He said, ‘If you would have good come to you, then you must do good to others.’ If we would have God to love us and obtain His blessings, we must love God - not only by word of mouth, but ACT THAT WAY!

“In a very short while, Mr. [5735], our institution is going to attempt to publish a magazine regularly. Your work fits you to understand a thing of this nature, and possibly you can be of a great deal of help and service to us in advising us, at least, if you will.

“Let me hear from you whenever you have the opportunity. I appreciate you - and with kindest personal regards, I am…”

R4. 5/19/28 [5735]‘s ltr. to EC: “I rec’d your very much esteemed ltr. some days ago, for which I thank you ever so much. Ever since coming in contact with you, I have rec’d good inspirations and your rdg. has done me a lot of good. I know Baker did not see it in the same light, and of course we disagreed on this point as in many other things - things that we have to forget about. His aspirations are, in many ways, the opposite of mine. I am thankful for all the light I get and I am willing to do all I can to serve my fellowmen

• the only trouble is that I do not do enough, by far.

“I am certainly willing to do whatever I can to help with the intended magazine. I think that I am in harmony with your plans, which your literature explains and I am fully aware of the need of such work as you are doing. In fact I felt great interest and sympathy from the very first I read of it.”

R5. 6/13/28 EC’s ltr. to [5735]: “Yours of May 19th came in due time. Haven’t been well myself. Hence the delay in getting to my correspondence.

“Just a day or so ago I received a request for information from a gentleman (Mr. Bakakos) who asked for same through a conversation with yourself. We certainly hope and trust we may be of service to his loved one. We hope to get to this in the next few days.

“We are hoping to get down to the building proper in the next few days now. Should be through in at least ninety days or such matter, and be ready for operation. I certainly hope and trust to be able to serve many better through these channels than ever before, and I believe we will - if the Lord is willing.

“I think we will have the first issue of the magazine in question about the first of July. [GD’s note: See Dec. ‘29 & 4/30 issues of The New Tomorrow under 1800-15 Reports.] At that time I will send you a copy and we may a little later go into the details more concerning the operation of this, IF the data in same would allow you to consider such.”

R6. 1/4/35 Letter from EC to [440]: ”…Now, about the demonstration you mentioned in your letter. [See 440-11 Reports.] Did I ever tell you about the experience we have had with such things? A few years ago a man [[5735]?] came to me with the information that he had been referred to me by several people who had gotten psychic information for him, and wanted me to give further instructions on a machine or instrument through which communications might be received from psychic sources. He obtained information through the rdgs., but I’ve never heard anything from him - although he was from Philadelphia [?], and I understand that there is a group in Philadelphia now, headed by a Dr. Palmquist, that claims to have received recently a message from the unseen through such a machine. It sounds very similar to the one on which the rdg. was given…”

R7. 1/10/35 Mr. [440]‘s letter: “I was quite interested in what you said about Dr. Palmquist. That is the very thing we want. If we can successfully build such a piece of apparatus we will have given mankind a most dynamic impetus toward a deeper knowledge of life and consequently world peace and brotherhood. I could not conceive of any greater service, could you?”

R8. 10/12/35 Letter from [5735] to EC: “For a long time have I been thinking of writing you, but neglected to do so until finally the Astrals told me what you do, do soon. I understand that Mr. Baker was sending you some minutes from time to time about our efforts along the psychic lines. But as he is no longer associated with us you may not have heard anything of what has been done. I am associated with Dr. MacGregor in this work and he is the one that is the actual promoter of the interesting research work we are trying to perform. We have sessions every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. At this [these?] sessions we have usually some diagnosis of sick people and how to obtain cures and then answers to questions regarding spiritual light on perplexing problems, Bible passages that are hard to understand and anything that is for the good of mankind. Needless to say we have had the most wonderful results. It is only too bad that there is no way to let the people know what we got. It occurs to me that it is like ‘hiding a light under the bushel’, but the times are such that little or nothing can be done. We do, however, pray for a change so that we may be able to do more useful work. At times we have had as many as 13 diagnosis at a session, but as a rule it varies from 2 to 6. I wish I had complete records and I would give you some details of our work, but as it is I can only say that case after case have been successfully treated according to Astral advice. Now to you who are acquainted and for a long time identified with similar work it is nothing new about it, but it seem meet that you should get a little glimpse of what is being done and so feel that you have brothers and sisters in the field who humbly try to bring relief to those under sin and sickness suffering fellow beings.

Dear Mr. [5735]:

“Yours of 12th came to me here where we have been for a couple weeks meeting with our membership will be here for another week then back to Beach the home office as you know. Was very good of you to write me am always glad to hear from any one trying to be of a service to their fellow man in any direction, and as my special interest for years has been in the Psychic that naturally interest me, was very much interested in the reports Mr. Baker so kindly sent me some time ago, and if you and Dr. McGregor are continuing along that line will be very glad to have any report you might care to send and to be of any help that I possibly could in that direction.

“Have been hoping to get to Chicago but have not made it as yet have been kept too busy to get out that far as yet, but hope to in the proper time, but you must keep all your records of your cases, and when the proper times come it will be known far and wide, none of us must become impatient, for we falter by being too impatient, and wonder why God has not recognized the wonderful work we have done in the name of His Holy Ones when we ourselves are being tried, man may plant and water, but God alone can give the increase, in patience do we posses our souls we are told by the greatest of teachers but do our work as best of our abilities, preserving in every case just as honest record as possible and it will all come sooner or later, that it may be even after this life is no wonder, for then we may be all the better able to enjoy the fruit of our labors.

R10. 10/11/43 [5735]‘s ltr. from Fresno, Calif. to EC: “A long time has elapsed since I wrote you last time, so you may have forgotten me. To help you to remember me I will mention I was with Mr. Baker [no rdg.] years back when you wrote a reading for each of us. Now you recollect that afterward I got associated with Dr. MacGregor. I am now at the west coast, having disposed of my printing plant in Chicago. I am now engaged in some literary work as a free lancer writing for magazines and newspapers. We have had many interesting sessions in Chicago, but the hand of fate led me to this part of the country, not knowing where the good Lord wants me to keep on with the work that I hitherto have been busy with. But I know fully well there is always a purpose in whatever happens. I have not had any communications with anyone who heard from you so I was just wondering if you are still conducting your Sanitary in Virginia and I am anxious to know how you are working things out and what results you are having. Would be glad to receive a few lines from you, if you can spare the time to do so.

R11. 11/26/43 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [5735]: “Thanks very, very much for yours of the 11th. Yes, I remember you very, very well. Our work has gone on and since the writing of the book, and quite a number of articles in various magazines, we have been so flooded with requests that we are many months behind even with our correspondence. While we try to put such letters as yours to the side and answer as soon as possible, you know what it must be to those who I am not acquainted with.

“I hope things are going well with you.

“No, we have not the hospital open here now, but have connections with quite a number in various portions of the country.

“Thank you very much for your ltr. I hope you will let us hear from you again…”

R12. 5/3/71 GD’s note: The following information in re BREAKTHROUGH - a book and a record on “An amazing experiment in electronic communication with the dead” published this year in England, I think is pertinent to the references reported under 5735-1. It seems that a shorter version of the experiment was published in Germany in 1968.

Born in Latvia, Konstantin Raudive Ph.D. is a noted European psychologist and philosopher who has lived in Sweden and Germany since the end of World War II. The author of six books including two novels, Raudive’s name is known to both literary and scientific communities.
