This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of September, 1934, in accordance with request made by Mrs. [593], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes. Not so good just now. We have had this before.

2. Still we find those tendencies for fever, and the breaking of cellular tissue in the lungs.

3. We would use Calcidin in the present condition; a grain tablet taken two or three times a day.

4. We would continue with the deep inhalations of the fumes from brandy. If this cannot be obtained, you can get plenty bootleg whiskey! THIS we would use rather in hot water; that is, pour a tablespoonful in a quart of boiling water and inhale the fumes from same. This will be much better than taking it by drinking it!

5. And for an expectorant (for there is the tendency for this), we would prepare a compound as follows:

6. To 16 ounces of distilled water we would add 2 ounces of Horehound, preferably in the dried (Yes, you can get it at Greene’s!) [Greene Drug Co., B’ham, Ala.]. Steep by slow boiling until when drained off there is about 8 ounces left, you see, from the Horehound solution.

7. Then, to the 8 ounces we would add, while still hot but not boiling:

Strained Honey…2 ounces, and shaken well together, Syrup of Ipecac…1 dram, Syrup of Squill…1/2 ounce, Syrup of Rhubarb…2 drams.

Shake this together and take about a teaspoonful. It would be necessary to add alcohol as a preservative, of course, which would be about three ounces of same. Take a teaspoonful about three or four times a day, or when the coughing is severe.

8. That this will make for an activity of the kidneys may be expected, but it will cleanse and not irritate same.

9. The greater destructive force from tuberculosis IS the kidneys and the liver.

10. We are through for the present.

Dear Friend;

At last I have the inclination to write to you, and tell you about Mr. [591], as well as myself. [See 593-1 Reports.]

I got busy, and have followed all of the orders that you sent me in regard to Mr. [591], and for a while he really did wonderful, but now for the last week he has been very ill, he is running temperature every day, and and has gone down terribly, he has lost about 10 lbs. lately, and has become so despondent, and has given up most of the treatment. He is very weak, and is really a very sick man, so I will await word from you as to what to do now, he is still with me, and I think that he has decided to stay here from now on, so if it is not asking too much will you please let me know just what to do now.

He is coughing very little, but the fever has make [made] him feel that he just cannot eat, and so has given that up, then he cannot sleep at nite, and he does not sleep in the day time, but he rests a great deal. He is on the bed most all the time, could it be the change in the weather?

I am enclosing two dollars, which will cover us for some time don’t know just how long, but I am sure that your book-keeper will know then I am enclosing $3.00 more as a love gift for the work or you which ever one is right, you are to be the judge, as you have been more than wonderful to us both, and you will never know just how much we appreciate it all… God bless and yours, is our prayer.
