Protestant Background, Spiritualistically Inclined) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 4th day of April, 1925, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [599].

1. GC: You will have before you [599], born January 21, 1867, [about 6 a.m.] on the Evan Johnson place, near what is now called Lock 12 in Coosa River, Alabama. You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities latent and exhibited in the present life. Also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and to that which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here and that relation as it has with the Universe and Universal Forces, as are manifest in the present earth’s plane through the relations of the present entity with same.

3. In this we find the position taken from that of Jupiter, with Neptune, Uranus and Mars in the ascending and assistance to the individuality as exhibited in the personality of the entity in the present earth’s plane.

4. Then, we find these are in the latent forces, or urges as are manifest through the individual in the present earth’s plane, weighed only with the will and the environment in the present plane, yet much of the environment that urge as is seen from other manifestations in earth’s plane.

5. One exceptional in many ways. One given to have close relation to the unseen forces as manifest in the material world. One whose latent forces ever governed by ennobling desire to self and others, yet one having many contradictory associations in its mental developments. Then becoming eccentric, curious, of peculiar acting in many ways to other individuals, yet to self very emphatic in its likes, dislikes, and giving to self ever the reason for its inner actions, though many of same are sought out after the action has taken shape in its own mental balances.

6. In many respects ennobling, and in many ways mysterious. In many ways eccentric, and very active or very slow, even on the same condition or premise from reasoning. These, as we shall see, also come as urges from past experiences in the earth’s plane.

7. In appearances then:

8. Before this we find in 1617. The entity then the medicine man to the Owega* Indians in their country, and in the name as would be literal in English, Dumb-in-the-ear. [See 599-1 Reports indicating his present deafness and ringing in ears, also memory of trapping animals.] In this we find the entity developed in that period and made much of the progress as was gained by the influence of the entity with the settlers then coming into that region. The personality then exhibited in the present from this sojourn, the seeking into the mysteries of all hidden forces, whether of spiritual or of material nature, delving into those physical manifestations of unseen forces active in the material world, and the desire to create those conditions in material things that given shape and form to things in motion.

9. In the one before this, we find in the land of the Norseman, when the first settler began to roam the seas for other lands, and the entity then guiding and directing one of the expeditions that sought out the land now known as England and gave the first settlement its name of its own household, then, of Djohn. The entity there assuming the leadership in the change, and developed the greater portions, for the half of the existence falling in evil way through enmity in home [also karmic condition with present wife] brought destructive elements through self’s not able to resist desire for vengeance. In the present we find that element of secrecy, and of the fear of even the closet friends, yet ever desiring friendships of those in other spheres, and able to gain same, and would be well to guard self for better development in present plane through mental forces in such relations, and thereby gain knowledge to self and for self’s development in the present earth’s plane, for with these we find much good may come to the entity in the present sphere.

In the one before this, we find in the land of the Guana [lama?], in the upper region of now called Tibet, when the peoples first began to make raids into the valleys, where the people came from the Western shores to the valleys beneath the peoples then in which the entity found its personality. Then in the name of Dexlut, and the entity then the law to the people, [Grand Lama, priest?] or the exorciser of the moral codes as set by the peoples. In the present we find the personality shown as the seeking of intent and purpose of each entity whom the body physically contacts in its relation towards moral, physical or spiritual laws.

11. In the one before this, we find in the Egyptian forces, when the laws of the people were first being given to the people in moral and religious associations, Ra-Ta period. See 341-10, Par. 3-A on 6/2/25.] and the entity then in the capacity of the executioner to the then ruler, and in the name Sisod, and the entity then again developed in the respect of the respecting of power and authority. Again losing the development in taking law into own hands and not questioning those in authority. In the present we find the personality showing, the seeking for the mysteries in nature, in physical, in the spiritual forces, and the ability to gain the close insight into such laws, and then to use this in the present plane, with the knowledge as gained through these, prepare self that these forces may manifest through the present entity, in the vision, in the hearing, in the feeling of the presence of those forces that are manifest in the physical world at the present time, taking cognizance of those conditions necessary for the better development in the present plane, and moving on to that higher realm, for we find many days are to be added to the present earth’s plane, [GD’s note: He died 6/23/36 at the age of 69 yrs.] and many and numerous the experiences through which the entity will pass, and may see manifest the forces as are latent and hidden to many.

12. Then, to use these in the present, give of self to this development, realizing that the self may be given to others and not claimed wholly to self. Then present self holy and acceptable unto Him, which is but a reasonable service.

13. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/4/25 “I rec’d Life Rdg. while in Montgomery, Ala. Some, or I should say all of the urges brought over from past lives or bodies as mentioned are with me. One has had a big influence over my thoughts and actions more prominently, the one from the medicine man, in a desire to create material into form and motion. I would like to tell you how true all this is to me but can’t spare the time at present… I am now working at a village blacksmith shop here - [Said he had been out of employment since March 1st.] think I will be here long enough to get a letter from you. Wish I could talk about two days with you.”

R2. 6/14/25 “I feel that I am making poor progress spiritually since I have been changing around so much.”

R3. 1/31/26 “Your much appreciated letter of 12/1/25 was rec’d in due time but found me mentally restless. On 12/25/25 my wife suddenly passed into the great beyond, and just a month later I was made coal chute foreman for The Southern Ry. in …, Ala., a job I have been wanting for nearly a year. I think this is a permanent place and can give a permanent address. I am living with my daughter, Mrs. […] and the greatest surprise of my life came when I found that my wife was attuned to the same plane as me. On the 10th day after her death she came to me in Mobile and identified herself and has visited me twice since I have been home, and so changed in her viewpoint [see 599-1 Reports indicating she was a great trial to [599]] - says her religious ideas are changed and in answer to a question advised me to get another diagnosis through you, and that she had lived in 4 bodies the same that others had told me when she was in the flesh. Said she was glad to be rid of her old sick body - is very pleasant, cheerful and companionable now.”

No need to say we are together much of the time.
