GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [608]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, in the present, there are those disturbances which arise from the unbalancing of the circulation from eliminating centers of the activities in the organs of the body. That is, we have those inclinations towards malaria in the activity of the liver and its circulation.
-
This, as combined with those subluxations and conditions arising from hindrances in the activity of the Periods, brings about - when there is the action of cold or congestion - a general upsetting of the system.
-
As we find in the present:
-
First we would give that there be begun the corrections osteopathically in the lumbar, sacral, 9th dorsal and the upper dorsal areas; coordinating the cervicals with same. The corrections would be more specific in the lumbar, sacral and 9th dorsal, while the upper dorsals and cervicals would be coordinated with same. This should be done, or accomplished, in six to eight adjustments.
-
After the first or second of such adjustments (not before), begin also with taking internally the Grove’s Chill Tonic; a teaspoonful twice each day, of morning before any meal is taken, and of evening before retiring. Take at least two-thirds of a bottle. Then rest from this for a week. Then take another whole bottle, or the rest of this and a whole bottle.
-
These as we find, with the general precautions, should bring about those conditions as to eliminate the causes.
-
But do not take one of these without the other; for the adjustments AND the type of activity for the general eliminating system and blood supply should coordinate. Hence these should be taken in the manner indicated.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes periodic violent headache, followed by nausea? (A) Just as indicated, the inclination towards the malarial condition, and some cold or congestion, as combined with the effects of the subluxations and the activity of the Periods, - these bring disturbances.
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/21/40 Mother [635]‘s letter: “Before your rdg. came she was better, and she had been on a tonic for about 3 days - but I immediately discontinued that, got in connection with an osteopath doctor right here - Dr. Roy Gilbert DeShaw. He is a young man and seemingly very good in his work. He has given [608] 5 treatments and she began the tonic as you prescribed after the 2nd tr. She doesn’t look like the same person, altho she has 3 more tr. to take and lots more of the tonic. Dr. DeShaw asked several questions concerning you when I gave him instructions as written by Miss Gladys. I told him then he would hear from you, but of course I’m only now giving you his name and address…he seemed very interested, said he thought your prescribed treatment was correct.”
R2. 3/3/41 Mother [635]‘s ltr.: “Did you ever hear from Dr. Deshaw? He certainly did marvels for [608].”

B2. 10/20/40 Mother [635]‘s ltr.: “[608] is sick again, like she was early in summer. Some 2-3 times each year for past several she has these terrible spells. She is usually taken with violent headache, then nausea and they last 2-3 days, always same way… I’ve had her under doctor’s care all these times. He gives her the same pills, or look like same, each time - never says what the real trouble. When can you help us?… She is in bed now. Was taken Sat. with the violent headache and still has it. Had to miss school today.”
B3. 10/30/40 [Not rec’d until after the rdg. was given] “She has been quite sick, high fever, nauseated and several other things, but fever not so high today. Dr. had her blood tested and was diagnosed as being ‘Typhus’ fever. You know that is supposed to come from bite of infected rat. Don’t ask me where she got one, I don’t know…she is very weak.”
