This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [618], on Sponsorship program of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes.

  2. While we find conditions are at times very satisfactory, there are others when there is the acute pain through the portions where there have been those leakages along the circulatory forces above the kidneys in the spinal area.

  3. With the precautions that have been indicated for the body, in the use of the vibratory applications, we would in the evening - preferably - massage these areas with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Camphor; using salt packs over same.

  4. Keep the feet warm and dry. Occasionally take a very hot foot bath, to the knees and extending even to the lower limbs, with about a teaspoonful of Pine Oil to a gallon of water. This would be helpful. If this tends to make for too great an irritation, then reduce the quantity somewhat, but keep these up at least every other day.

  5. Ready for questions.

  6. (Q) Are the osteopathic treatments being given correctly? (A) These are doing very well. There should be a little more stimulation to those areas above the lumbars; that is, in the lower dorsal and portions of the lumbars coordinated with those manipulations in the upper dorsal and cervical.

  7. (Q) Should I use the violet ray at home now? (A) Do not use the violet ray on the days that the foot or limb bath is taken as indicated, but on others it would be very well - not too long but sufficiently to keep a good superficial circulation.

  8. (Q) Bowels don’t move naturally at all; even with oil and psyllium have to take enema every night. Any further suggestions? (A) Change more in the diet to those that carry the ACTIVE forces and influences; such as stewed fruits, figs, the pie plant and things like that. But keep the bowels active at least once each day, even if it requires the enema.

  9. (Q) Do I really need to eat meat to bring up my blood pressure? (A) This would be beneficial in some respects yet hard upon the body in other respects. Liver, beef juices (without taking the meat in same), lamb, fish, fowl - these are the better if meats are taken.

  10. (Q) Should I take Dr. Pierce’s vegetable pellets? (A) Not if there are the vegetable forces taken sufficiently in their natural form, and especially those laxative foods as indicated - such a prunes, figs, pie plant and the like. Otherwise, the vegetable compound is very well.

  11. (Q) Should I continue to take juices extracted from fresh vegetables? (A) This can be carried to too great an extreme. These taken occcasionally are very well, and carry the better vitamins for the system. But it may be done excessively and not carry the bulk for the activity of the system.

  12. (Q) Any other advice? (A) We would do these as we have indicated, and be careful that those areas where there is the acute pain at times are kept near to normal - and put the healing forces on them as will be had by the massage with those properties indicated, and the heavy salt heat afterwards.

  13. We are through for the present.
