Born July 23, 1899, Sun. morning about 8 o’clock, in Bass Hollow, about 2 miles from Bass, Alabama. Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the present entity, now known as or called [620].

2. First, the entity should have more of the colors of BLUE about the body; and those characters that represent the Egyptian cross - which, as seen, is more or less in that form of the lazy or the Maltese, except open and crosswise.

3. In giving that which may be helpful or beneficial to this entity in the present, it would be well that first, for the moment, we analyze the mental activities of the entity in the present.

4. That there are latent abilities and faculties is evidenced by the resistances the entity oft puts up as to its ideas and ideals. That the entity is positive, yet egotistic with it, is evidenced by the faults the entity finds in others, and in the manner it accepts resentments towards it as being personal when much of that given by others as positive is not necessarily meant as a slight or slur to the self at all.

5. Then, in giving the astrological aspects and those that influence the entity in the present:

Rather than from what is termed the astrological chart, that this or the other planet is in the rule during the period of entrance of the entity into the earth’s plane - thus producing the influence by the sun, moon or the planets of various magnitudes being in the aspect of this or that position in the zodiac, here we find for this entity a wonderful demonstration of the fact that the sojourn in particular environments of planetary sojourn produce the activities, and what the entity did in its earthly sojourns respecting that it knew regarding constructive or creative forces in the experiences of those in the earth during such sojourns. This makes up those things that are the aspects in the present sojourn, with abilities in certain directions, inclinations in others, likes and dislikes of a very definite nature in others, and like; these are indicated, and show why that in families where individuals have the same environs, same food values, some like one thing and some like another; some like SOME portions of certain vegetables or fruits or meats, some like the food raw and some like it well done, yet their surroundings and activities have been much the same. These are from INNATE experiences that go deeper; but, as is seen, the body itself is SUPERSENSITIVE - or one that may be said to be in that environ or strong influence of Neptune. Hence the body, rather than being inland, should dwell or sojourn near or upon large bodies of water; this would change the influences or bring about and into the experience of the entity those things that would be of a higher spiritual and mental nature. And as the entity is endowed with those abilities in the directions pertaining to the mystic forces, such a change or environ would bring for the body MATERIAL and MENTAL happiness for the body; or the larger the bodies of water about which the entity may be drawn, the better it would be. Hence the western coast of the present land of sojourn would be excellent, but we would make it towards the north; not in California but rather in Oregon or Washington or the like. These will be the much better for this particular activity of the entity in this sojourn. Why? Because of Neptune and its aspect at this particular time of the entity’s sojourn into the earth, or entering into the earth, with the activities through which the entity passed during the sojourn in that planet; that is, the SOUL force, not the physical body to be sure - though the physical body’s adaptability to environs of that particular atmospheric condition or gaseous forces in those climes of these particular environs brought about that which will make this particular portion of the earth’s environ at this time of the greater influence, and at the same time dealing with those things that have to do with the earth and the production of same - yet close to the large bodies of water and dealing with those folk who fare on the surface of same. Then, the combination is that of the soil in its productive forces with the folk that fare upon the surface of large bodies of water.

7. From that sojourn we have those experiences or innate expressions of rather an UNSETTLED condition. At times those things that appear to be the most desirable for the physical body-attainment bring rather disconcerting experiences to the body. Not that the body has changed its ideal, but the ideal and ideas do not always jibe exactly; they alter much in their coming INTO what may be called the materialization of the mental and spiritual aspects of an idealistic or a mystic mind, that is active in the influences of this particular individual, [620] we are speaking of.

8. The Venus influences are rather adverse with Jupiter, and - as we find - these may come to a head in October of this present year, making for changes in the environs, activities and associations, both as to family and as to marital relations. These will come to a focal point either for the betterment or for the separation of self from these environs in these changes. This is seen as an INNATE, mental influence, not necessarily a physical activity unless MATERIALIZED. And it has just been given that usually the materializations for the entity are not as they were first thought; hence bringing discord in the PHYSICAL activity of the body.

9. From the Jupiter influences there should be brought MONEYS and moneyed individuals into the environ and in the experience of the entity, through the mental application of self MENTALLY. Hence the mental builds much of air castles, that would be called by many. Not that the body is extravagant with itself or tends to stretch its own imagination; for very often they are a portion of the experience of the entity, crystallizing these in making first the understanding of self in its mental relationships to others, its mental relationships to creative forces, and making them practical in the experience of self will bring to the mental forces of this body a much more beautiful, a much more purposeful, a much more worth while experience in the present.

10. For, as we find, very soon - in the thirty-sixth to thirty-seventh year of the experience, or in this present sojourn - will come those periods when changes must come about. What wilt thou make of the opportunities that have been presented? They are set before thee; choose thou!

11. As to the appearances in the earth and their influence upon the entity in its present activity:

12. Before this we find the entity was during those periods when there were the settlings in the land that is now known as the Northwest, when there were the enterings into this land of those peoples from across what is now known as Alaska or Bering Straits; those individuals that journeyed into the lands now known as the Columbia River section.

13. The entity then was among those whom the strangers from the East met with; that were not the native Indians nor those from across the sea, but the remnants of those people who were of the tribes that were lost or that had journeyed to the land, that had settled in the Aleutian Islands; that were of the Caucasian or white race that settled in the valley, with which Clark came in contact or found there.

14. During the sojourn the entity gained and lost; gained in those activities as to the influences brought to make for the enlightenment of those people to aid themselves, in not only the comforts of the material activities but as related to the more spiritual or soul forces of each, and in the understanding as to how what individuals did to others brought about the better understanding in their relationships to the Creative Forces as expressed in soul manifestations. Then the entity was in the name Jean Zeda.

15. Before that we find the entity was in that land known as the Roman, during those periods when there were the persecutions of those that had given of themselves in body and mind to the understandings of the teachings that were being presented by those who had been the emissaries and soldiers in the land of promise.

16. The entity then was among those who followed close in the way of one of the ministers to that teacher known as Paul, or Saul of Tarsus; then among those that were of the households of those that were in rule and in power; and, joining self with these people, suffered in body and in mind, yet - through the spiritual and mental developments - gained throughout.

17. Hence in the present we find much of that pertaining to the mystical forces, the ideas of numbers, crosses, marks, and those things ordinarily termed superstitious; yet these are not, to those that give credit to same, for to them they bring a better understanding of that in the material world being a shadow of the spiritual forces - and thus such a shadow may bring forth or keep within the mental activities of individuals and souls a picture of those things that will bring peace and harmony and joy; just as does the expectant mother keep in her heart of hearts the image of that offspring desired, thus moulding much of the physiognomy of those that would bring forth into material things from the unseen.

18. For, as the body during that sojourn - in the name of Lilean Jueanu - gained in physical and material development, it brought to many of those, as they suffered under the persecutions, that which built in themselves and in herself the SPIRITUAL harmony that made the suffering rather the joy; that should be counted by all that would make themselves a channel for the blessings of those that are to come to bring peace and joy to others. Count that thou sufferest at the hands even of others as JOY in a service for thy Son, for thy Maker!

19. Before that we find the entity was in that Persian land during the periods when the city was being builded in the plains and the hills by the leader from the nomad lands.

20. The entity then was among the people that were scattered abroad by the rebellions in the land of Uhjltd. Later the entity became enjoined in those of Estra [?] [Edssi - [437]?] that came again to gather from the peoples in the plain the teachings that brought peace and harmony and joy to those; for he that serves his fellow man becomes the most joyous of all in the material plane. For the Master gave, “He that would be greatest, let him be servant of all.”

21. In that experience, in the name Emmille, the entity brought to self and to others (after periods of much persecution, much hardships) understandings and truths that made for a quieting and quelling of the turmoils and strifes; yet from that experience and sojourn does the entity in the present find much of that which brings the longing for changes - yet never being able quite to discern as to just what the change would build or look like were it created into a material thing. In the present we will find, too, those things that pertain to certain dyes, those things that pertain to certain activities respecting the building up of those things that would indeed have effect upon the young of the land, as in certain modes of teaching, certain manners of presenting certain forms of maps and the like, arise from the experiences of the entity during that sojourn.

22. Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were turmoils and strifes, and just before the period of banishment of the Priest.

23. The entity then was among those of the household of the king that had been set in order, and the entity forsook the household for the native peoples and joined with those in the rebellions; yet with the return of the Priest the entity became among those that aided the activities in the hospitalizations for those things pertaining to affecting portions of the body.

24. Hence in those fields of activity as in the nursing, teaching and the like, may the entity apply self in such a way and manner as to bring for itself the better understanding. Yet these must deal with certain characterizations of individuals.

25. The name then was Ptl-hene.

26. As to the abilities of the entity and that to which it may attain, and how:

27. First, as indicated, find self - and that which is the motivating force in the experiences and activities of the entity; for those things that are as urges are from the experiences in the mental or material planes; and if there will be taken into the self the influence and force promised in the truth set in the constructive force in the earth, the entity may gain day by day; using those abilities in the mystic, those abilities in being able to delve into the beyond and gain from those activities there that which may be helpful. USE these, not abuse these. Accept only those who acknowledge that He has come in the flesh, and that He and all others will come again in the flesh.

28. Trust in the Lord while He may be found. Rejoice in those things that bring understanding, whether they torment the flesh or whether they add to the gratifying of the desires of the body; for they are given of Him.

29. (Q) What should I do in order to somehow find a way to keep peace and harmony in our home? (A) Study to show thyself approved unto God; not being ASHAMED of those things that bespeak of constructive or creative influences within thine own experience, but rather divining the words of truth in their proper relationships to the material, to the physical, and to the mental life, and keeping self unspotted from the world.

Remember those exhortations given by him who instructed many in the first charge: “He that keepeth his own tongue is greater than he that taketh a city.”

30. (Q) Have the psychic experiences I have had been from a high enough plane to be helpful? (A) This may be determined by those things which have been set as the criterion. For, as He gave, “As ye do it unto these ye do it unto me.” They that have passed into the realm of the inter-between or the borderland that have become associated with, or have gained sufficient experience in the realms or planes of activity to know through that experience that He lives, that He came, that He IS that one that gives to those as they are set forth in their activity in the earth - and those that acknowledge this, LISTEN!

31. (Q) Could I trance with some development? (A) The greater development with self will be through the SENSITIVENESS in the INTUITIVE forces, as indicated.

32. (Q) What can I do to help my husband, and how can I keep him from tearing me down spiritually? (A) Build self on the basis of constructive forces and let him build on that which he would.

33. (Q) I have never been a success as a housewife nor do I feel that I ever shall - (A) (Interrupting) As indicated, study first to show thyself approved unto God as a workman that need not be ashamed of using those talents that have been builded and are as the gifts from Him who is the Creator of all pure and perfect gifts, from whom all increase in the activities - whether of the material or spiritual forces - MUST emanate. And as thou cometh close in touch with Him there will be found in thine experience that which will make for the greater constructive forces in the home, in the associations in every form and manner. To THESE be the praises, for He gives His blessings on those who dedicate their lives and their bodies and their hearts to the service of a living God!

Dear Mr. Cayce,

“I have received my Life Reading and I can only say it all seems mysteriously wonderful and I believe I experienced the greatest inspiration of my life while reading it.

“Of course there are so many things I cannot possibly understand yet I know I am supposed to accept them and some day try to learn to appreciate them all. I have experienced so many of the very identical things given about the present that it gave me much courage to have the information confirm them.

“There is one thing I have always been so interested in yet have gained so little on the subject and that is astrology and its many influences, there are so many different explanations on the subject that I haven’t known just who and what teacher to be correct and therefore was afraid to diligently study after any of them.

“I think I understand what is meant by my Venus influences but do not know where the Jupiter influences come from. Any help that may be given to help me to understand any and all will be greatly appreciated.

“Another thing I should like more light on is during the Persian existence when scattered among the peoples of ‘Uhjltd’. Who was Estra?

“My comment on the reading is - everyone has always told me I took life too seriously but I have never been able to change it much now since the Reading and studying the past existences I do not wonder that I seem serious in thought I seem to have always been more or less inclined to be.

“I am very happy to come a member of your wonderful group and trust I may be a worthy one, for I feel so sure that you have already given me a helping hand.”

“I have never been well nor happy in this locality in fact have never felt free for a moment and naturally that has been such a terrible handicap to both myself and my family and thru the reading I have been helped tremendously in beginning to remedy some of these things. I was told that I would feel much better and be able to develop myself in a better way if I lived near the water - and I have had the greatest urge to move there near the seashore somewhere for a long while.

“My oldest child [714] who is most [almost] nine years old is the most nervous child and seems the most suppressed being I have ever known. I well know that this climate has never agreed with her nor the environment either but have been lost as to what to do to help or how to go about in making it possible for a change - now I feel that to move to the seashore would be very helpful to her as well as for myself and I should like your help in trying to make the proper move.

“My husband has a very good business here and cannot move anyplace now but he is willing and agreeable that I take the children and move someplace for the school year where we can all improve physically and mentally and if I can manage to make the proper steps. Just now I feel that much can be accomplished in saving our entire future in home relations.

“Of course he does not nor probably will ever understand much of my temperaments and does not want to cooperate with them in any manner and is very bitter against any thing of that nature so I must have help in handling all these things for the sake of my children’s future. Yet he loves his children very dearly and wants to do the proper thing for them at all times if he can see a reason why a certain thing may or not be. So we have tried every known method of helping [714] here and he says now that he feels sure that a change is the only thing left for us to do - so in that way there is hope for all of us.

“Can you tell me if either of these places would be better for the immediate change. Savannah, Ga. or probably Pensacola, Fla.

“I mention those places because they are the closest places from here where I would find some of the things which I feel that we need and I should be so happy in having your help in selecting a place just now. Because it will be considerable expense to move. I of course do not even contemplate living HERE any more but trust that once we break this bondage of evil constraint, as I would call it but shall not refer to it again, I feel confident that we will be able to use our influence in a very tactful manner and will be able to take the whole family with us there or else where that would be suitable to all concerned.

“For some reason I feel that Savannah would be best but am not sure as I know nothing of the place or the people whatsoever.

“I am very anxious to have a Life Reading for [714] in the near future for there is something most mysterious to every one about her and we have never be [been] able to understand her and she seems most unhappy and painfully quiet.

“I would appreciate an answer as soon as possible for we want to get moved before school term begins which is very soon.

She and I were in school together when we were in our teens. I had lost her completely. She was telling me about such an urge she had to find me last fall. So when she got her rdg. we were discussing why, and of course it was because I could put her in touch with you and your wonderful work.”

R4. 8/30/34 Mrs. [272]‘s ltr.: “Mrs. [620] came by to see me yesterday and wanted me to deliver a message for her. She said that her plans had materialized rather rapidly. She is taking the 3 children and moving to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the winter. She said that she would write you as soon as they got there and became located.”

R5. 9/9/34 Ltr. to EC from Mrs. [620]:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

“I am sorry I have not seemed to have had time to write you sooner but things have been moving rather fast for me for the past four weeks, in fact ever since I received my reading. I am quite confident that it proved to be a turning point in my life. I knew that something must happen, a move must be made to save the day and myself but was totally unable to make the decision and I was not anxious to make a blunder, but wanted so much to do the right thing.

“When I had the reading and was told that I should be located near the water and the more water the better then I began making plans to move to the sea shore and finally decided on this place and Mr. […] came down with me right away to investigate the location and we both agreed that it was probably the ideal location - of course he never knew why I suddenly made up my mind as to this location but was very much pleased that I had seemed to make such a good selection and he also felt that it would mean much to all of us. So we rented our home in … furnished and he retained his room and will continue in business there and we found an ideal location in a furnished place here and I am interested in so many things just now and all of them seem to be found right here so I am delighted.

“As soon as I can I want to take an active part in the work you would like me to, and I hope to be able to contribute both some time and some money, even tho a small amount to the organization.

“Can you tell me if any of your members are here now - if not probably will be sometime during the winter season.

R6. 10/20/34 She obtained 714-1 for her daughter - a Physical Rdg., and 10/30/34 a Physical Rdg. for herself - 620-2, for which she submitted questions on 9/28/34, saying: “I am sure that you will understand that I have been very busy with my own school work and many other duties is the reason that I have not written sooner.”

R7. 1/30/35 “I have had a few very unusual experiences recently and am very pleased with the progress I have made physically and otherwise.

“Another thing I wish to ask you is about the teaching of Saint Germain activities - they are to have a course of study here from the Feb. 13 to 22 and I have been asked to attend and would like to have your viewpoint of them.” [She submitted questions also for 714-2 for her little girl and for a Mental-Spiritual for herself.]

R8. 2/13/35 EC wrote delaying her appointments until his return to Va. Beach from DC, saying:

“P.S. Mr. and Mrs. Ballard [GD’s note: See subsequent references to the Ballards indexed under RELIGION: ISMS: I AM.], who are exponents of the St. Germain studies, have recently been to Washington. Several of those in our Study Group here attended their courses; all report they were very interesting but somewhat impractical studies.”

R9. 2/21/35 She submitted further questions, saying:

“Mrs. [301] and I have made quite an interesting acquaintance and are enjoying many things together, she must have a very interesting family in New York. We are attending together the lectures of the Ballards and find them very interesting and so far they do not appear to be impractical, shall be so glad to pass on my opinion to you after they are all finished.

“I am improving in many respects in health and otherwise but [714] remains much the same and for that fact I am very anxious to have the reading as soon as you return and can make the appointment - you may wire appointment at my expense and I shall answer reply also.”

“Thru my good friend Mrs. [272] of Birmingham I have been very interested in your organization and I sincerely believe that if I may be accepted as a member of your wonderful group that you could be of the greatest help to me. And thru your help perhaps our little family which seems groping in the dark just now can find light.

“I have been a member of the AMORC Study Group of San Jose, Calif. and enjoyed many wonderful experiences but for past year have not been actively connected with any organization or anything very much - have not been well and have had much handicaps in my development every way due mostly, I think to the lake [lack?] of harmony in the home. I have three children - one girl, eight years old and twin babies, boy and girl - two and half years of age.

“I should like to ask some questions and if I ask too many you may answer as many as I am entitled to with my reading. I am very anxious to have a Physical reading in the very near future also.

“1. What should I do in order to somehow find a way to keep peace and harmony in our home? Of course we have it for some few days a month but not at all as it should be. (This not only is hard on me but very trying on the children.)

“2. Have the Psychic experiences I have had been from a high enough plane to be helpful? Could I trance with some development?

“3. Do you think it possible for me to ever develop or have good health in Birmingham or should I try to change my abode to some other part of the country?

There are many things I can do quite well when the task is mine to do and I have the proper inspiration.
