This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of October, 1934, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [620], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis.]
Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Fla. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [714].
-
Now, as we find, the disturbing factors in the general physical forces of the body are being taken care of in a very NATURAL way and manner. Yet, as we find, there are not the proper precautions taken respecting the diet for this body in its developing body and its mental and physical reactions to the conditions that have disturbed it through the rather malnutrition, or the excesses of the effects of certain forces or influences in the body.
-
Beware of SWEETS! And let a portion of the diet at least two or three times each week be liver (calves’ or pigs’ liver) - broiled, not fried and tripe.
-
Take those exercises for the body that are rather the setting-up exercises. These should be taken consistently MORNING and EVENING.
-
Keep in the open.
-
Keep plenty of the foods that are well-balanced with the vitamins necessary for normal developments.
-
And we will bring for this body a much NEARER normal physical, mental and spiritual development, [714].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What can the mother do to help her? (A) Be rather consistent, and let the activities of the mother and the child be more of the COMPANIONATE nature! Make for one another rather the COMPANIONABLE expressions between each. Do not have secrets, or this or that thing, not spoken of between the two!
-
(Q) In what part of the country would she have the best health and develop most in body and mind? (A) As indicated, the present surroundings are WELL!
-
(Q) Is the school she is now attending the right kind? (A) Very good. VERY good.
-
(Q) From what doctor could we secure best medical aid in St. Petersburg? (A) As we find, it is not NECESSARY for any PARTICULAR medical aid at present. When it’s needed, ask Thomason! (?) [GD’s note 6/30/65: He could have said Thompson. D. Carl Thompson, D.C., of Selma, Ala., had previously lived in Fla., and might have referred them to someone.] [GD’s note: This may not be the correct spelling of the doctor’s name, but that is what it sounded like.]
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/7/34 Mother’s ltr.: We rec’d my rdg. and [714]‘s on the 3rd and were happy that they both were even that well and, too, we are delighted that the location is so favorable for both.”
R2. 1/30/35 Mother [620]‘s letter:
Mrs. [301] and I have had the pleasure of several very pleasant conversations and find that we have much in common, I hope that we may become long and useful friends. Of course the word “Cayce” was indeed a magic one.
I have been very much dissatisfied and somewhat disappointed in the Physical Reading for [714] since it was so brief and she is such a tragic little figure and seems so depressed all of the time and seems to be actually suffering pain a lot of the time, yet she is so quiet and never utters a sound as to outward emotion except in the expressions of the face, and actually seemingly to break loose and talk would cause more actual pain than any other thing. She seems to be made of a complete negative body and never in her life have I ever heard her make one single positive statement. If she is hungry or sees some child eating candy she will probably say “I do not want any candy” or I am not hungry, or sometimes she does say “I think I need a drink of water” but never I want a drink or give me anything. So Mrs. [301] immediately sensed the need of a Mental-Spiritual Reading and in that way probably the real trouble could be reached.
I was so pleased with both my readings and especially the physical reading I felt was so complete and I felt that [714]‘s was so brief that you can readily see why I was some what disappointed and I am so anxious to bring some kind of relief to her in some manner if possible.
Since the experience during the holidays [“She was not well a single day of the 2 wks. her Daddy was here.”] she has not regained the progress she had made up to that time and I have lost a bit of the contact in a way that I had with her before that, she seems so closed against everything now and she has not grown strong enough to go back to school.
She has very queer reactions to everything that I do in a way of progress for myself and seems to sense things much more quickly than I do even in those things concerning me as well as herself.
I want this reading for [714] and would love to have one of the same kind for myself if you could let me pay you a little later. I feel that we both must do what we can in a somewhat secret manner until I can do some of the things I have in mind as to financial matters that will I feel take care of my own personal expenses regarding development and some other things but at present with the responsibility of the care of the three children I must be very tactful and if I do my duty at all times then other things will some how take care of themselves…
What affirmation could the mother use and how?
Thru what line of development could the child be most successful and happy?
What relation was the present [paternal] Grandmother […] to this child in the past?
Who was Uncle […], for whom she was named and did she know him and did her mother know him also?
Did she know Dr. Smith before and how?
(These three people seem strangely connected with this child in a mysterious manner that is noticeable)

Background
Background
B1. 9/28/34 Mother [620]‘s letter submitted questions, saying: “We do not seem to be able to know just what to do with [714] that she will be quite normal in development. The mind seems strong and alright but the muscles fail to coordinate with the mind as well as we think they should in order to do the things necessary in the development of life at this stage. So I am quite anxious to have help on my part to do what I can - all past experiences in medical aid or otherwise have proven in vain.”
