This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of April, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [630], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Alabama.

  1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, especially regarding the eyes; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [630]; this we have had before.

  3. In the present the disturbances are rather of a constitutional nature. There are disturbances with the glandular system, especially as related to the activities of the adrenals. This makes for an unbalanced condition as to the supply of energies in the circulation to the sensory forces; hinders or impoverishes the supply to the optic forces; producing a relaxation that causes the expression in the eye reflex itself.

  4. These are the characters or natures. Of course these hinder in the kidneys’ activity in elimination, and a flow of secretions that are a part of same deflect through the supply to optic forces.

  5. As we find, taken as it is, this condition may be stayed - if there is a consistent effort, and especially as related to the general building up of the health itself, and especially as related to the circulation that exists between the liver, the kidneys and to the supply of blood AND nerve energies in portions of the cerebrospinal system - as related to the assimilation and glandular activity towards same.

  6. In making applications, little that is applied directly to the optic forces themselves will be beneficial, other than keeping the cornea and the eyeball itself cleansed occasionally with a mild antiseptic.

  7. The condition to aid, then, is the DIET - AND that which IS a stimuli to the glandular forces AND the forces of body where assimilations are carried on.

  8. Do these, then, in the general:

  9. Each day have plenty - or quantities - of carrots, raw and cooked; lettuce and celery.

  10. Do take a stimulation in B-1 vitamin, other than the activity from assimilated foods - the combination that is prepared by the Miles Laboratories of the B-1 Complex; One a Day. This would be sufficient of these properties for the body. Take it rather in series; one each day for at least three weeks, leave off one week, and then take again. But continue with the various manners of preparation, especially of those diets that carry the properties indicated.

  11. Beets and beet tops also should be a part of the diet.

  12. DO take also the Jerusalem artichoke three times each week; twice cooked, once raw; one not larger than a medium hen egg. When cooked, let it be cooked in its OWN jacket - or in Patapar Paper, and mix the juices as come from same with the pulp that is eaten. Season to suit the taste.

  13. Do have quantities of fish in the diet, and sea foods.

  14. Do have each day a thorough massage with a combination of oils which we will indicate. This need not be professionally given, but SHOULD be given thoroughly; not something to be gotten through with, but take care and precaution. This would be especially from the base of the brain, or 1st cervical, to the 9th dorsal along the spinal system. The oils would be combined in this manner:

  15. To 4 ounces of Russian White Oil, or Usoline, as the base, add - in the order named:

Peanut Oil…1 ounce, Oil of Cedar Wood…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root…1/4 ounce, Lanolin (dissolved)…1/4 ounce.

Shake these together thoroughly before being poured into an open container in which the fingers may be dipped to massage along the spine. This would be especially at the base of brain, at the lower portion of the cervicals and on the upper dorsals - these areas especially; just what the body will absorb. Preferably do this of evening when ready to retire.

  1. These, as we find, offer the better conditions to allay, to stay and to build the body for resistance to this glaucoma.

  2. Ready for questions.

  3. (Q) Can any of the sight be restored? (A) This may be materially aided. This depends upon how consistent and how well the body responds, and as to whether there is the overstrain in the use of the eyes from day to day. Do not sit in a dim light to attempt to read, or do not sit where the light reflects directly on the face when working.

  4. (Q) What causes the pressure in my eyes and what corrective measures will stop it? (A) Read what has just been indicated. These are the conditions. Meet them in these ways.

Most of these things can be applied better by self than others, save the massages that should be given daily.

  1. We are through for the present.
