This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of August, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - through her brother, Mr. [311].

Time of Reading 3:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Montgomery, Alabama. (Body & enquiring mind - Physical, mental & spiritual, with suggestions for betterment, and questions.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [630]. Now, we find in the physical forces of this body there are specific conditions and disorders that cause or produce distresses in the physical forces, or physical functioning of the body. Were these corrected in their PRESENT state they would be the more easily eliminated from the system. Are they [If they are] allowed to remain until there is an impairment in the blood supply, and the organs as make for clarification of same, or the functioning of such organs, the condition is very apt to be more stubborn and become rather that of a constitutional, and cause GREATER distresses, even unto becoming an accumulation or segregating itself as to produce either a plethora in some functioning organ, or attacking the vitality of same in itself. The conditions, as we find, have arisen from cold, congestion, WITH a specific character of bacilli as attack the muco-membrane of the face, that has produced a front and lower antrum trouble that hinders, or causes a spasmodic contraction in the eye or the sensory system as related to the vision, that must sooner or later attack, and at times does show the pressure in the auditory system, causing also that re-infection that brings about those distresses through the digestive system, making for ACUTE pain, or of a nerve impingement in the forearm or shoulder, or in other portions of the system, in a neurotic or neuritis condition.

2. These are the effect, then, of infection as arises from those conditions in the system themselves. These effects as are produced at times that make for the tendency towards an overactivity in the eliminating system, again the effect of creating a form of that stamen in the system that brings about a congestion in the liver and a tendency towards constipation. When this occurs we have the effect of those reflexes from the colon itself proper, and a concurrent reaction in the organs of the pelvis and in the genitive system a suppression of the eliminations through the menses, or an overflow as may occur at times from these same conditions; the SYSTEM ATTEMPTING to ADJUST itself. So that the EFFECTS, as we find, in the face, the arm, the digestion, the effect on the circulation, in the physical forces of the body, are rather reflex from infection in antrum and soft tissue of the face.

3. There are some specific teeth that NEED attention. Those especially in the upper eye, and next to - or first molars - on the left side of face (we are looking at them straight in the face, now, or right side if from the other - see?).

4. In the mental forces of the body, we find these are ACTIVE forces that seek quite out of the ordinary in finding an expression of self in its various interests in various fields. Will these be directed in channels that make for an active force towards that that brings CONTINUITY of action, or that is of the spiritual nature rather than so MUCH of that as makes for the active forces in purely material or mental world, we will FIND there will be quite a variation, quite a more positive life. Interest the self, then, in those fields or those channels that partake of, NOT that as is ordinarily known as orthodox religious study - but rather that as is of the nature of that as COMBINES the spiritual application in a material world, or those in the channels as may be known of that assist or aid those who are unfortunate, either in a mental or material affairs of the earth or world. NOT as a missionary, but rather that as of one in the activities of municipal, or that is in CONCERTIVE action, and gain in the study of same the differentiation - or the difference between that as is applied as INDIVIDUAL, rather than as groups or herds or hordes; for each entity must find that the ideal of self is personal, as does God or the Savior become a personal God. Not in the sense of being A person, but Spirit - and seeks such to worship Him, and that the Spirit of Truth may permeate the lives of those, whether they be working upon the dunghill or in the pulpit; for, as to the ideal, and in filling that for which the individual is fitted to accomplish, DOING THAT in hand WELL, and - as the knowledge and understanding grows - there may be added, even as of old, SUCH as are being saved.

5. In the material or the physical forces of the body, these corrections - as we find - will need some LOCAL applications, such as may be had occasionally - about twice each week - of applying at the 3rd and 4th cervical, and at the same time across the antrums and the face (frontal ones, see?) the saturated solution of Epsom Salts; not TOO hot, but sufficient to set up a reaction; and we would ALSO have - at least twice each week - those manipulations as may be NEUROPATHICALLY given. Beginning with same in the SOLAR plexus center, working DOWNWARD to the tips of toes, see? Beginning at the CROWN of the head, work DOWNWARD to the solar plexus center.

6. We would also use - as an antiseptic, as a spray - that as would be prepared in this manner:

7. To 1 dram of 85% grain alcohol, add:

Eucalyptol (Oil of)…3 minims, Bensosol, in solution (10% solution)…8 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…2 minims, Tolu in solution…20 minims.

THEN ADD 2 ounces distilled water, heated - but not boiling, see?

8. When ready for use, shake together, and put in atomizer (spray THROUGH the nostril, ALSO the throat), and as these applications are made we will find conditions clarifying, and the body becoming normal. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Will the suggested treatment cure neuritis in left arm? (A) Didn’t it speak of the neuritis? Didn’t it tell what was the trouble? DO that! We are THROUGH for the present.

R5. 8/30/40 Letter from [630] to HLC: ”…I had an interesting thing happen recently. A doctor here told me several years ago that I had pyorrhea, and a bad case at that. Now I think he was right in saying I had it, but I think he was drumming up business to say that I had a bad case. However, I got a bottle of Ipsab and used it religiously. Then I got another bottle and have used half of it. The other day I went to another doctor for an examination and he says that he can’t say that I have pyorrhea at all. In fact he thinks my gums are quite healthy. Isn’t that nice? Tell me what kind of letter you would like to have written about it and I will write and sign it. Also, how can I get dentists interested in trying it? Do you have any secrets along that line, other than my buying it and asking them to give it to their customers to try? I wouldn’t mind doing that, but how can I keep in touch with the customers that take it, and how long should I give them for results? The dentists don’t seem so keen about using anything that will cure their customers…”

R6. 9/16/40 Reply to Questionnaire:

(1) In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? Yes, it was very accurate. In fact it diagnosed conditions that would never have been discovered without a reading.

(2) Give symptoms of condition described correctly? Spasmodic contraction in the eye or sensory system. Distresses through digestive system, particularly in solar plexus or stomach region and in left arm. Congestion - colonic trouble. Over activity of genitive system.

(3) What was the physician’s analysis of this condition? The medical profession merely stated that the condition was over acidity, and nothing was ever prescribed in the way of medicine that ever temporarily corrected the condition. I was only given a new bottle of medicine to try for this condition each time the doctor was called upon.

(4) Have the suggestions given in the Reading been followed exactly as outlined? To the letter.

(5) For how long? See below.

(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? Complete cure. A physical checkup will be obtained in the near future. This in regard to the eyes only.

A Neuropath [Dr. Elise L. Stone, N.D.] was immediately contacted and one months treatment together with the Epsom Salts packs and spray for the head and face stopped the pain in the eyes. This pain has never returned. One years treatment neuropathically cured all other conditions.

It might be stated that in conjunction with the Neuropathic treatment a corrective diet was prescribed which consisted of citrous fruits in abundance, all vegetable, no starches, sweets, or fried foods, no meats of an acid forming variety such as fish, pork, or chicken, but plenty of lamb, and other meats three times a week.

A clarification of the suggestion that specific teeth “especially in the upper eye and next to or first molar” should be obtained as X-Ray’s disclosed no trouble there. At this time a dormant condition of the eyes (not cataracts) is developing that seems to be rare. A reading will be obtained for this at an early date.
