GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement of same, giving special advice regarding an operation. If she should have the operation, who should perform it?
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. This we have had before. The conditions are a great deal different from that as we have had here before. The congestion and inflammation as created from same has brought about many complications that have increased the condition in the mesenteric system until there is seen that these old conditions are aroused again; yet we do not find the body is in the condition, nor would it be necessary, for operation, were conditions carried out that will produce eliminations sufficient to reduce conditions again in the system.
-
While the congestion and the retarded circulation has caused many complications, the body - through proper treatment and vibration - will respond sufficient to overcome the condition, and prove much more beneficial than would the condition of body be by undergoing the stress and the conditions that are with such operations.
-
To meet the needs at the present time, we would add - with the manipulation that gives strength to the body - those of massaging, at least twice each day, in the cerebro-spinal system, at least half a pint of equal parts olive oil and tincture of myrrh - half quantity used at such massaging, see? The oil heated - then pour myrrh in. Tablespoonful of each at the time, see? Two quantities, or two tablespoonsful of each used - this making the quantity for the day.
-
For conditions in the mesenteric system, and across the abdomen, we would use hot cloths (preferably flannel) wrung out of oil - the Castor Oil, see? Use these to reduce inflammation, also to relieve the system of the strain on the eliminations through hepatic circulation, produced by stimulation of the osteopathic massage and the oil massage.
-
As for medicinal properties, those as have been given should be made or renewed at this time, and we would find that this would relieve conditions and prove more beneficial than operation, under existent condition. Should strain on physical and mental reach the stage that the condition in body becomes so localized as to necessitate the removal, the body would have GAINED strength sufficient under these treatments to insure safety in operation, but under the condition existent - where so many portions of system are involved - this would not be well at present. Neither would we deem same advisable, were these conditions as are outlined followed in the manner as given.
-
Take the medicinal properties for intestinal conditions, and relief of inflammation with these stimulations should bring the body back to the NORMAL without any such severe mode of treatment.
-
The diet should follow in that that is nutritious, especially in the beef, iron, wine [Wyeth’s Beef, Iron, Wine], and those conditions that are easily assimilated and strengthening to the body without leaving drosses in system. Necessary then, in diet, to FEEL the way, as it were, along with same, finding that which does agree - for, as will be seen, the mental attitude, the mental surroundings, will have as much to do with the physical aspects of the body’s response as the purely physical forces themselves do.
-
Then follow this in the way given, and we will find the better conditions for the body, Mrs. [654].
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/18/27 Mother’s ltr.: “[654] phoned me long distance last night, said she began the treatments at once and the first one made her feel so much better. A lady chiropractor is giving the rubbing treatments. She thinks and hopes she will avoid an operation… We both appreciate your getting the rdg. for her in so short a time. I was afraid they would have an operation before I could hear from you, but the Dr. says she is too weak now to stand an operation, just as your rdg. stated. I am praying she will escape it altogether.”
R2. 4/17/27 Mother’s ltr.: “[654] wrote me your tr. helped her so much she was able too get out of bed and sat on the front porch; took cold and was kept in bed again and was very sick, but said she was better again. I am afraid until she gets away from the noise of that school she won’t improve very much. She is planning to come here as soon as she is able. Perhaps the change and quiet may help some.”
R3. 6/15/27 Mother’s ltr.: “[654] came last wk. for a visit, she is much improved - says you have saved her life twice. Dr. Nona Grapes (N.D.) has given her 3 tr. also.”
R4. 6/21/28 Mother obtained Ck. Physical for her - See 654-3.

B2. 3/3/27 Mother’s ltr.: “I sent you a telegram this a.m. asking for a rdg. for [654]… [654] has had the ‘flu’ - has been in bed for 6 wks. now. The drs. say she must have an operation as soon as they can get her strong enough, and as you saved her from an operation a few yrs. ago I am hoping you can do it again, for she is very weak and fears an operation; she says if she has to have one she is coming to Selma [Ala.]; if an operation is positively necessary, I hope the rdg. will tell her who is to do it, for I think that is very necessary in a severe case.”
