This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic, Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of May, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [657], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:30 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have those conditions about the body, those things that have arisen in the general physical forces of the body.

2. As we find, they exist in this way and manner:

3. There being a tendency for a lack of resistances produced by excess acidity, and an inclination and a weakness in the supply of blood forces from an anemia to the sensory forces, we have broken down - or have a collapsing of the Eustachian tube.

4. Hence we have not only those effects from a catarrhal condition which has affected and does affect the body, in the way and manner of a neuritic condition - and tendencies towards the effects of these poisons.

5. Then, to build up the system generally, we would FIRST make for a general increase in the circulatory forces of the body, by supplying a richer and better blood supply - through addtion of greater quantities of enzymes for the system. Ventriculin?]

6. We would then have, as the body begins to SHOW improvements - through building forces and the eliminations in the system - the finger surgery; those applications osteopathically made.

7. These, as we find, would offer the greater possibilities for helpfulness for this body.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) About how long will the treatment take to bring my hearing back to its nearest normal state? (A) This is almost like asking how long until tomorrow!

Dependent upon the RESPONSES that the body makes in ELIMINATING the poisons from the system, and upon the building of the circulation in such a way and manner as to be able to recuperate the general physical forces of the body.

It would require at least nine to twelve months.

10. (Q) What treatment for the spots on areas of the body? [Vitiligo] (A) As indicated, change the circulation. This has been given for the body. [See 657-1.]

R1. 5/21/36 “I have had my urine checked for acidity, and find it is about 64 (normal 25-40), showing a mildly acid condition. This is high considering that I am fairly careful with my food, but not high compared to the average person.

“I had a blood-count made. The hemoglobin was 80+, and the red cells were 4,200,000. The normal is 4 1/2 to 5 million. The physician in the laboratory considered it practically normal. However, I bought the ventriculin, a highly expensive preparation, and am taking same once a day now. I have not started with the finger surgery as yet. I am also taking some anabolic concentrated food capsules for acidity, anemia and nervous symptoms. The curt answer to one of my questions makes me feel that the soul force which guides you in the Readings does not feel highly friendly toward me. I cannot feel assured that the loss of pigment on areas of my skin are due directly to circulation. The blood count is not sufficiently low for this, and I have never had any symptoms of poor circulation that I am aware of.”

R2. 5/23/36 Letter from EC: “Thanks for yours of 21st also the enclosure, while we do not expect those of the profession to contribute when they cooperate with us in their reports we thank you just the same, and it will help some other poor soul where they are not able to contribute at all. I note with a great deal of interest your report on the findings of the tests made for you, and will be very interesting to you I think if you follow the suggestions to watch results. While I am not trying to justify the information Dr., at all, for the more often there are a great deal more harmony in the tests than apparently shown in your report. But the information is given from within, and not from the symptoms, am sure that must always be the case, thus the inclination, that so often are the real cause, is described, check over the cases you have seen, and see if that is not correct.

“As to the attitude, Dr., isn’t it honestly a reflection of yourself, for unless the information is as a mirror, it isn’t much, and doesn’t know such a thing as a personality, only reflects what approaches it, and in the manner of approach.

“I appreciate your interest Dr., and hope you will make an honest, sincere study of the information, am sure it is just as a very prominent Physician said some years ago, ‘If you want to say there is nothing in the information, you can take the words of a reading and prove it, but if you are really looking for soul inspiration and truth, if you will approach it in that vein it will give it back to you and bring help and relief when everything else has failed at times.’

“Sorry to hear of Mrs. [742]‘s death, but at her age am sure her work here was finished.

“Thanks Dr. let us hear from you again, and know I am glad to try and serve at any time.”

R3. 2/28/38 “Please see that this is forwarded to the proper person. I would like to have half dozen of ‘TIM’ (for hemorrhoids) sent to me c.o.d. as soon as possible. I naturally would like the same professional discount offered to Physicians generally.” [EC forwarded the order to Health Home Remedies Corp.]

R4. 5/24/48 Ltr. to HLC: “Our friend, and my patient, put one of your abstracts (#4) in my hands. It was Mr. Johan Franco. As a result, I’d like to know what other abstracts you have, with the idea of purchasing some of them. Also please send me at your earliest convenience the book, ‘THERE IS A RIVER,’ a bottle of Atomidine, one of Ipsab, and a small jar of Tim. Would like these as soon as possible. You may bill me or send c.o.d. as you choose.

“During the past 2 yrs. I have contracted an osteoarthritis of the 6th and 7th dorsal of my spine. I wish your father were now living, but if you have any suggestions other than those in pamphlet #4, I’ll be glad to receive them. Osteopathy alone is not helping it. I’m not crippled or in great pain, but it is annoying especially in the early morning hours, starting about 4 to 6 a.m.”

R5. 5/28/48 HLC’s reply to Dr. [657]: “It was certainly good to have your letter of May 24th and get in touch with you again.

“Under separate cover, we are mailing you some of the data regarding our work which will bring you up-to-date. We have abstracts on epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, deafness, and arthritis. One is now being prepared on cancer material.

“I hope it will be possible for us to have you as a regular member of our Association, and also a member of the Advisory Board of Physicians. We would like to keep in close touch with you and cooperate as far as possible in our abstract studies of the information which was accumulated through the years in the Edgar Cayce files.

“We are having our annual Congress here, June 20th thru 26th. It would be fine if you could attend some of these mtgs. as it would be an opportunity for meeting a number of doctors here who are interested in the abstracting and indexing work. I am sure that your suggestions and comments would be of help in planning our program in this direction.

“As requested, we are mailing you a copy of THERE IS A RIVER and a bottle of Atomidine. A bottle of Ipsab and a jar of Tim will be mailed to you from Marsden Godfrey in Norfolk, Va.

“I am delighted that Mr. Franco is in touch with you and I hope you have been of help in clearing up his little difficulties.

“Best regards from all here. I look forward to seeing you personally when I am in New York early next fall.”

R6. 6/9/48 Letter from Dr. [657] to HLC: “Your nice ltr. of May 28th was received. In response I have decided to become an active member of your Assoc. I will send you my ck. the first of the month. In the meantime, perhaps you can give me some help. I have had an osteoarthritis of the dorsal spine for nearly two yrs. While I’m not crippled or in agony, it is very uncomfortable at times, I’ve tried Osteopathy, and other forms of treatment, but the condition still exists, to a lesser degree than at first. I have concluded these treatments are not sufficient within themselves to clear up the trouble. I have your Arthritis Abstract #4, and am following the advice in Group #1. I started this several days ago. Can you offer anything from your Father’s Readings which might be of additional help in my particular case? I will much appreciate your kindness and trouble in the matter. [6/15/48 We sent him a copy of Case [3592]. GD.]

“I have received the various items sent for, and have mailed my check for same. Will you please send Mr. Godfrey’s exact address, so I might send to him for additional orders, saving you the trouble?

“I will look forward personally to seeing you when you are in New York next Fall. Sorry your Congress is not after July 4th, when I would be able and have more free time to make the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Franco moved to Virginia Beach Tuesday. They are delightful people to know.

“I hope I’m not asking too much in the above. Charge me for any extra trouble involved. With kindest personal regards…”

R7. 8/17/48 Dr. [657]‘s letter to Mr. Johan Franco:

“Thank you so much for keeping me in mind. Am glad you are now feeling definitely better. Sciatica is a very tenacious ailment. I know, because I had it myself.

“My spinal arthritis is about gone. I only took Atomidine a short while, and at the same time was taking some Reilly’s Health (physical medicine) treatments. As to whether one or both did the trick I do not know. But I do believe the Atomidine has real virtue.

“Mr. […] felt considerably better when he left here, but I have not seen him recently.

“I have great faith in the Radioclast, both for diagnosis and treatment. So much so, that I am running a clinic next month, at much reduced fees, to stimulate interest in this form of electronics. Would you kindly send me a list of names in and around NYC who might be interested? I will much appreciate it.”

R8. 12/5/48 Dr. [657]‘s letter to HLC:

“Mr. Romano [Jacques Romano?], somewhat of a food specialist in this city, has stated in his lectures and to me personally that milk tends to increase the normal amount of mucus, aggravating catarrhal conditions, and is harmful for anyone except babies. How does this fit in with your father’s readings?

“I sent an order to Mr. Godfrey 2-3 weeks ago for a large container of Tim. As yet I have neither rec’d it nor heard from him. Will you be so kind as to see that I get it?

“Thirdly, have you any data on faulty calcium metabolism? I have calcium deposit in my lower spine, which is playing havoc with my sciatic nerve (pressure). Can you help me with any information in this respect - that is, how to avoid further recurrence of it? I have found a way to get it out, I believe.”

R9. 12/30/48 HLC’s reply: “I checked with Marsden Godfrey regarding your order for TIM. I hope that by this time you have received it.

“The Edgar Cayce records seem to indicate that any excess deposit irritation such as calcium or excess mucus or catarrhal conditions, result from an improper functioning of a normal body. There is no indication that one product, such as milk, alone, would cause for all bodies an excess amount of mucus.

“I know that you have by this time examined our extract on Arthritis. You will note that this deals with calcium deposits and I feel sure that the suggestion for the use of moderate quantities of atomidine would perhaps be the answer to your problem on the calcium deposit. According to the rdgs. deposits of calcium are brought on by improper glandular functioning and can be relieved in this manner.

“During the next few weeks I will be in New York several days each week, generally speaking, I will be back in Virginia Beach for weekends. You can reach me at the Seymour Hotel, 45th St., between 5th and 6th. At your convenience, give me a telephone call and we will arrange an appt. I would enjoy seeing and talking with you again.

“I hope that you had a very pleasant Christmas and may the New Year bring you continued success and prosperity.”

R10. 1/15/49 HLC’s letter to Dr. [657]: “Enclosed you will find an extract from reading [636] in reference to the formula of the elixir which you ordered. Under separate cover a bottle of elixir is being mailed C.O.D. to you.”

R11. 10/17/49 He requested abstract of 19 cases of Neurasthenia from the Edgar Cayce records, and asked to be notified of future abstracts. “Am still interested. Think it is a wonderful thing.”

R12. 2/4/50 “I use a great deal of the Atomidine… In a few more years I may come down and give you a lift occasionally, but now I must ask your kind indulgence.”

I had a slight head cold some days previously. It has shown little improvement in the past week. And there is another chronic condition I asked about, but not answered in my previous physical rdg. I have apparently lost the pigment in various sized areas of my skin. If this should come in a conspicuous part of my face it would be a distinct handicap to me in my profession.” [Vitiligo]
