This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Yale Nathanson home, 4611 Spruce St., Philadelphia, Penna., this 11th day of November, 1934, in accordance with request made by Dr. Yale Nathanson, sponsored by Mr. [417], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [727].

2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions in the physical forces of this body. These are prenatal in their cause. While this is as an elemental condition these are the effects that we find in this body, [727], we are speaking of:

3. In the activities of the Blood Supply do we find the channel through which aid or help may come, through the changing of the vibrations in the gland secretions as to make for a balance, where the activities in the responses in the system may become nearer to a normal flow in same.

4. While applications are being made in the present through the elements that act upon these, by those influences of the external nature, we find that if there were added the vibrations to the centers from which the activities of the glands themselves are supplied - through the ducts from that assimilated - it would make for a more ready response.

5. So, we would add the deep therapy with same, or the diathermy - with those anodes in the centers over the lacteal duct area, with the solar plexus, in the cerebro-spinal area.

6. Such applications, with the massages that will make for the keeping of a coordination, will bring the greater effective forces for this body - as we find.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Will you describe the condition in more detail? (A) The condition is apparent in itself. From the prenatal condition there is carried the effect upon the glands of the system, which prevents their building properly without producing the incoordination in the activity of the responses between the white and gray matter in the nerve forces of the body itself.

9. (Q) Would you advise the use of X-Ray in this case? (A) As we find, the deep therapy would be more effective in these centers for the creating of the balance, than the X-Ray. For the deep therapy would make greater inroads upon the elements necessary to be driven from the system, than X-Ray.

X-Ray therapy to a ganglia is to dissipate that which may not be carried through the circulation in this particular body, as well as the dissipation through the therapy we have indicated.

10. (Q) How often should the diathermy treatments be given? (A) Diathermy would be given in various stages; that is, each day for periods - then skip these for periods. This would make for the better activity. And it would depend upon the responses made with the circulatory system.

11. (Q) How often would the massages be given, and what type of massage? (A) The massage would be given preferably three to four times each week, or PORTIONS of it each day; but stimulating - the centers or the axes of the nerve system as to keep drainages or drosses coordinating with the eliminating systems. So, the Swedish or such a massage would be the preferable.

12. (Q) Is there any part of the body that is swollen? (A) All of those portions or centers from the axis, as well as that from the 9th dorsal area.

13. (Q) What is this condition called by medical science? (A) Water on the brain or those effective forces that come to same from the centers involved.

14. (Q) Would you advise the use of any drugs in this case? (A) Not in its present stage. In certain stages of the condition the puncture of the spine with Atropine would be effective, but not in its present stage.

Do these as we have given, as we find would bring the greater aid in the present for this body.

“I was very sorry to miss you when you were in this part of the country. We were in Washington most of October, and in New York all of November - would have been there another week or two, but were called to Kentucky owing to the very sudden and unexpected death of my wife’s only brother [Wm. Lynn Evans]. We just got back to the Beach on the 13th. There are quite a number of appointments on hand, and a lot of correspondence to attend to.

From your interest I’m sure you would be pleased to know about some of our contacts in New York. I think we might say that the trip on the whole was most satisfactory. It has been really gratifying to us in the last year to see and feel that we have been interesting more and more of the profession in our undertaking; not only the physician of the osteopathic school and of the other similar ones but quite a number of the old school - even surgeons have cooperated; and during our recent trip a contact was made with the University of Pennsylvania. They have a case [See 758-38] under observation, and the prospects are that there will be several others. In fact, I believe their program is to have at least six during the year, and the arrangements have been made for the financial side of it through one who has been very much interested in our work. While our demonstration, or attempted demonstration before this group, as not as we had planned - as I slept for an hour and a half the first time without saying a word (Hugh Lynn says - who was acting as conductor - he spent forty-five minutes putting me to sleep and forty-five minutes trying to wake me up), perhaps it was more proof to the people than anything else would have been that it couldn’t be “faked”. [See 727-1 Background.] For we certainly did desire to have the best showing possible. Later, we tried it again and got wonderful results. [See 727-1.]

Also we had the privilege of meeting a physician in New York to some of the people who may be classed as the thinkers; among them being Mrs. [587] wife of the cartoonist of … [955]. I don’t know whether you ever read the funny papers or not, but you know what I mean.

Then, too, we were entertained in the home of a very devout Catholic in Forest Hills - which place is no doubt very familiar to you owing to your tennis associations [home of George Hirn]. There also we made connection with the president of one of the largest hospitals on Long Island; a German, one inclined to give some credence to a work of this kind even though his doctors throughout his institution made fun of him [Mr. [749]?]. Like so many of us, when he got results he felt different. This enabled us to contact quite a number in New York and surroundings.

Also we have had for two years quite an interest shown in our work by our friend Dr. I. Daniel Shorell, the one who has been fostering the Elliott machine - and who has developed a process whereby he can possibly eliminate fifty percent of the deafness in this country. You will no doubt see a great deal in the medical journals about this man. He is a surgeon, but says the work has taken him away from surgery. He has given us some every wonderful reports that will be very helpful to us as we go to establishing the various phases of the work.

So, you may know, even though we were there four weeks, we were kept quite busy. Hugh Lynn was more than busy, making these contacts, getting these reports, etc.

Another very unusual experience for us in New York was that we undertook an open meeting, and carried the expense ourselves; that is, we didn’t have to ask anybody to contribute a little here and there to meet the emergency. We had over two hundred people present, and it almost developed into an experience meeting before it was over - as a couple of laymen spoke and one medical man and an osteopath, besides myself.

So, all in all, I think it was a most satisfactory New York visit.

Returning from Hopkinsville, Ky., we had quite an experience

• which might be termed “luck” by some. We found a great deal of ice and snow in the middle Tennessee mountains and foothills, and as we were driving the car turned over. However, it was damaged very little and none of us hurt to any great extent; in fact, we were delayed only about a day, for it scared us and Mrs. Cayce - being already upset
• couldn’t get the nerve to start out again. But so many things might have happened and didn’t, that we feel very thankful that it was no worse than it was; and we may not be so far wrong in accrediting some of the so-called “luck” to our real desire to do good to our fellow man. This may be stretching it - I don’t know.

Of course, I saw a great deal of our friend [257] while in New York. [257] is still trying to work out some plan whereby he might be able to open the Carolina factory. Whether he is going to do this or not, I don’t know. He is rather up against a hard proposition, but he is working - and may be able to figure it out. I hope so.

Our plans to come to Chicago fell through for the simple reason that we didn’t have enough money to get that far away from home. We went to Washington instead; that’s very much closer by, and although we didn’t have a great many persons to rely on there, our three weeks’ stay was about as fruitful as in any place I’ve eve undertaken the work. We found a great many people interested in things of this nature. As you know, Washington must be a very conglomerate mass of people. We were kept busy and possibly could have stayed longer if we had not been called to New York. In Washington, though, we organized one of our Study Groups. You perhaps know what this work is, from having discussed it with Hugh Lynn while he was in Chicago. It apparently is one of the most enthusiastic of our Groups; in fact, the individuals in that group are insisting that we make another trip to Washington in January and organize another group. I don’t know which phase to stress, Mr. [165]; I suppose we’ll just have to meet the needs as they arise. But to have such a place as the University of Pennsylvania ask that an investigation be allowed, sounds like we are getting somewhere. Of course, it might not be a great deal of trouble to interest Duke, as Dr. MacDougal is not unacquainted with the phenomena - as he studied it about ten days while he was associated with Harvard - but that was years ago.

Of course, I did not get in touch yet with your friend, Mr. Mayo [Warwick Mayo] - but I understand that some members of our Groups in Norfolk did. Thank you very much for your letter.
