Date: 12/14/1934 Sex: M Age: 48 ReadingID: 4597
This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of December, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [751], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis, L. B. and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; [751], this we have had before.
-
There are improvements in the general physical conditions of the body since last we had same here. While there has been the occasional return of the disturbing factors, especially as to the pains across the abdominal area where there has been the use of the support, as we find, pressures made near the coccyx end of the spine - as we have indicated - near to the orifice of the osseous portions in the body - will make for a much better relief to the whole of the system. Also there will be a much better balancing through those portions of the pelvic area where there are the indications of the unbalancing in the system. If these are made more on that portion or side, on the right cheek and then the left cheek of the hip, close - as indicated, we will find the disturbance there to the lower END of the coccyx area. Not on the bone itself, but that about the orifice; not close to the glands, but closer to the cheek on either side.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) This should be done osteopathically? (A) Osteopathically.
-
(Q) Why do I have these sick headaches, which just takes the pep out of me? (A) The unbalancing in the pelvic axis. And, as has been indicated, there should be the pressures there; NOT so much as corrections, but pressures to remove the flexus there along the spine. It will remove these headaches, and in three to four such treatments not have any more!
-
(Q) Why do I get these flush spells and nervous spells accompanied by a chill? (A) The unbalancing, as indicated. These pressures should necessarily be EVERY day until three or four are given, then they may be given only when the regular coordinating is made throughout the cerebrospinal system by the general treatments.
-
(Q) Have I got a drop stomach? What is the cause of it? (A) The taxation to those portions of the system has made for a tilting, more than a dropping - but the walls of the abdominal area have been weakened by the general separation of the conditions, as indicated. These will be helped by those treatments, and by the use or the wearing of a girdle - more than any other aid.
-
(Q) Will I continually have to wear my steel brace? (A) As we see, this may eventually be done away - and only a girdle or belt may be used.
-
(Q) What test can I make, if any, to sort of prove that these reactions are caused by the disturbance to the glands? (A) By leaving off those things that are aiding the glands. But relieve these pressures in the coccyx area as indicated - do THIS, if you want to get the better effects!
-
(Q) Are the adjustments I have received by Dr. Dobbins correct so far? (A) The adjustments haven’t been made WHERE they are indicated, in the COCCYX area, you see. Do these if you would remove these pressures! These are on the cheek, you see, and about the orifice itself.
-
(Q) Can I take my medication during the adjustment period for the gland condition? (A) As indicated, it is best that it be separated. But during those periods when these are taken, of course, it will make it more effective now.
Do this, and make these adjustments or these pressures - NOT adjustments but pressures by REMOVING! See, it’s only one- thousandth of a millimetre pressure that’s needed in the area! This doesn’t mean to move a segment in the coccyx, but as a pressure - that will remove the pressure from a cartilaginous surface or area; so that we will take it off the whole axis of the pelvis and the cervicals also - removing the headaches, and give the flow of the whole system properly. Make three to four such pressures each day. Bend the body over a table, you see, or on hands and knees, or standing straight either; rather than lying prone or on a vertical or lateral table. Let the body be more in a vertical position, see?
- We are through with this reading.

Dr. Frank P. Dobbins 551 Fifth Avenue New York Phone Vanderbilt 9806
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Can’t seem to make out from the readings just what we should do for Mr. [751]. The first reading seemed clear enough that is correction to the coccyx itself. The check reading seemed to indicate that no pressure should be made on the coccyx itself but on the soft parts directly to either side of this bone. The work that I am now doing is as follows: I am loosening the muscles in the lumbar & sacral area as well as the gluteal muscles then I make specific correction to both sacroiliac articulations to straighten out the pelvis. I then correct the entire cervical area. The last thing I do is to go inside the rectum & make pressure on the soft parts on either side of the coccyx. I gave Mr. [751] instruction to several times a day make pressure on either side of the coccyx close to the external sphincter.
If this treatment is not in accordance with the reading I would like to know it so that I can give the treatment correctly.
It might be of interest for you to know that Mr. [751] is very skeptical & wrote to the A.M.A. to see what they knew about you also to the N.Y. Times. I feel that we should get very good results with this man. His closest friend is an M.D. who is doing every thing that he can to discourage him in this treatment. I was going to give you questions to answer but thot that perhaps a letter describing everything in detail would accomplish more.
This man’s chief complaint is impotency.
Best regards to you & all of your associates.
Sincerely yours, Frank P. Dobbins

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I received your reading and your last letter, and I showed them both to Dr. Dobbins.
After reading them, he was not sure just what you wanted him to do. I believe that, in the meantime, he has written you direct about this.
I have been to him about ten times so far; and I cannot report any progress as yet.
With kindest regards and best wishes to you and your family for a healthy and happy New Year, I am
Sincerely yours, [751]
P.S. I do not know whether there is any charge on the Check Reading; but if you will advise me, I will be glad to send you my check.
Still get the head aches. Impotency is still present.
R3. 12/28/34 EC’s letter to Dr. Dobbins:
We have yours of the 24th, and have also today received a letter from Mr. [751]. I do not know the technical names well enough to understand your analysis of his last reading completely, but from what I do understand it seems that you have the proper interpretation - and that the treatments you are according him should, according to the reading, bring some definite results. I wrote Mr. [751] that if he doesn’t find that he gets relief in many ways very soon, I want you both to submit a list of questions to ask in another reading.
I note what you have to say about him communicating with the medical associations, etc. We have had a great deal of this in the recent months, and I’m not surprised at him being among those that do such things. But it is all the more reason why we want to bring the desired results in his particular case, if possible. His complaint may be only impotency, but it is no doubt from quite a deep-seated cause - if we are to believe the reading. Of course, through the years we have had quite a number of cases of this type, though the causes may not have been the same. And where ever the treatments were followed as given, the results came.
I appreciate your writing me, and hope it will not be too great an inconvenience for you to keep me posted as to developments in this case - or any others that you feel we would like to know about.
Trusting you had a pleasant Holiday Season, and that the outlook for the coming year is more hopeful, I am - with kindest personal regards,
Sincerely, [EC:GD]

Association For Research and Enlightenment, Incorporated Virginia Beach, Virginia
To the Members, Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.
Dear Friend:
At the beginning of this, a new year, I feel I would like to speak personally with each one of you. As this is impractical, the next best thing is to write you a letter. PLEASE - each of you - know this means YOU!
I know there is the tendency for many of you to confuse the work of the Association with myself. Personally, I am working WITH the Association. I am NOT the Association. It is composed of each and every member - so this is YOUR work!
Although this is not the end of the year for the corporation’s work (its fiscal year ends June 30th), I feel it is well for me to give something of an accounting of what the Association has done through me during the last twelve months. I do not desire to give you a lot of statistics that would mean nothing. The real work is the help and hope that has been, and is being, builded in the heart, in the mind, and in the experience, of each and every individual. When you have read this through, will you in some way let me know whether or not you are with me in the undertaking for the coming year?
There have been 688 requests for readings by members of the Association during the last twelve months. This is a gain of 133 readings over our last fiscal year. They have been divided into the following classifications:
PHYSICALS …202 CHECK PHYSICALS …239 LIFE …76 CHECK LIFE …10 MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL …65 RESEARCH - CONTRIBUTORY (readings on groups, research subjects, plans for work, etc.) …43 PROFESSIONAL …29 CHECK PROFESSIONAL …12 QUESTIONS (readings by questions) …12
688
165 readings were given for individuals who were unable to make any contributions. The group readings (not those sponsored by groups) and research readings, were for the research department and for the preparation of the work relating to study groups and their organization.
Approximately, 1700 personal letters have been written during the last year, and three form letters.
The Bulletins, containing Case Reports, information and data, have been published and distributed each month. There have been 8 Case Reports in this publication during the year. I would like your comment on the manner in which these have been presented, with suggestions for improvement.
180 members have been added during the last year - 96 Active and 84 Associate.
3 new study groups have been organized. The total group membership is a little less than 100 - 9 groups in all. The groups have sponsored a number of readings for individuals. Group No. 3 - Norfolk, sponsored 22 readings; and groups Nos. 1 and 2 - Norfolk, sponsored 6 readings each. These have been mostly physical and for individuals who were unable to make the contributions at the time, and were taken care of by the groups.
Practically all of the groups have a part in the work of the Glad Helpers, or have organized their own Glad Helpers groups. This is the prayer group in each study group, and the results are amazing, when one reads their reports. Too much cannot be said for this part of the work. Words fail me. One must experience to know.
There have been 10 open meetings, 5 in Norfolk, and 5 in New York. Two lectures were given in Washington, two in New York and 5 in Norfolk. One address was made before the American Society for Psychical Research in New York. Contacts have been made and work done with several kinds of research organizations during the past year. You, who have attended the annual Congress, know what such meetings have meant and do mean to the organization. Those of you who have not attended such meetings should make an effort to be present during the coming Congress.
Physicians of many schools have shown a great interest in the work. Many have cooperated wonderfully. 15 or more new ones have been added to our list during the past year.
The needs of the organization are many. We ask all to keep up your pledges, and those of you who have not pledged to contribute according to the measure you have received. Thus, through the whole-hearted cooperation of each member, I feel very sure, in the coming year, we shall be able to accomplish a great deal more in service for our fellow man than we have in the past.
I am sure I need the help and the prayers of each and every member of this organization, and I ask for them in the same measure in which I have given myself in service for the members during the past year. I am asking, too, that you pass the word along to others whom you may find in need in every walk of life, where the organization and those who serve same may possibly be of a help.
Let me know whether or not you feel that which has been accomplished is satisfactory to you and measures up to your ideal of such an organization.
Trusting we may in the coming year find greater joy in our service for our fellow man, and wishing each of you a happy and prosperous new year, with love to one and all, I am
Ever the same, Edgar Cayce [EC:MD]

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I received your report as of January 1st and this all seems very interesting to me.
I should like to know when you expect to be in New York as I believe I have quite a few people who would be very much interested in your work. As far as I am concerned, I have stopped taking the adjustments and I am now taking your Atomodine.
I should also like to know in the event that I wanted to have a physical reading on somebody, how soon after writing you about it, you would be able to give this reading.
Awaiting your reply as to when you expect to be in New York and with best wishes for your continued Health for the Coming Year, I am
Sincerely yours, [751]
