This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of May, 1936, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [1192], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:20 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. L.I., N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [758]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are in the present those inclinations and those tendencies for much better conditions. While as has been given it will take time to bring about the coordination between the mental impulse and the physical reactions in the system, these are consequences of the conditions that have been given again and again.
-
We find that, unless the advantage is taken at the present time of those changes that are nature’s change in the physical aspects of the body, these will not be brought into conditions of a coordination sufficient for the body to function normally in this experience. However, if all of those things that have been indicated are brought about during the next year or eighteen months, there should be a change that will be MOST helpful; and the abilities of the body mentally and physically for the caring for self should be established in the physical and mental reactions of the body.
-
The applications that are being made in the corrections osteopathically are very good.
-
We would find that if there were periods of the application of the Castor Oil Packs over the caecum and the lacteal ducts area, yea extending AROUND the body from the ducts and glands on the left side, around the body, these would make for relaxations that would bring about such changes WITH the applications now given as to overcome those tendencies for the incoordinating reactions or spells during any period. These are the effects rather of the ducts and glands through the muscular forces, and the incoordination between the mental impulse, the activity of digestive forces. We would encircle the body then across from the central portion back over the central portion, see, including in same the lacteal duct and caecum areas. These should be given for at least an hour, changing the pads twice, the evenings before the adjustments are made. Do this, then, during the periods that these applications or treatments are to be made.
-
The rest of those things as indicated we would continue. In the vibrations from the appliance, keep the anodes or the plates clean and attach them in such a manner that they are in perfect contact with the body during the period of rest.
-
Do that.
-
Keep these as near as possible in the way and manner as has been indicated.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Otherwise, are the battery treatments being given correctly? (A) These are very good. There should be soon, of course, the recharging of same, and these should be kept in that accord so that at each period of application there is carried into the system the vibrations to the glandular forces, the electric energies of the properties as indicated.
-
(Q) Should the body continue wearing arches? (A) These are well, for until there has been sufficient correction in the lumbar, through the sacral and the lower dorsal, or lumbar and dorsal area, that there is sufficient strength through the impulses for the lower extremities, the arches enable the feet and ankles to keep the strain off of same.
The feet, of course, are to be treated each time the other treatments are given.
-
(Q) Are present eye glasses correct or should they be changed? (A) These for the immediate present are very good. But before there are the activities of the body so much in the open, it would be well to change them.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to send body to same farm as last summer? (A) Provided there are the precautions and care taken as has been indicated, or as was in the last experience there.
-
(Q) What developments mentally can be expected with present treatment? (A) We have added that which may aid with the present treatments to bring effectual conditions; provided they are carried on in a manner commensurate with the sincerity of application will be the results.
-
(Q) How long should the Castor Oil Packs be continued? (A) As indicated, these are to be given the evening before the adjustments are made. Continue these each time until there are the results obtained from the conditions as arise from the disturbances which they will relieve.
-
(Q) Should laxatives be given this body, and if so how often and what is suggested? (A) There should be those precautions that there are the correct such that these are not effective, well that there be given a laxative. Occasional conditions may arise even when purgatives are necessary. WHEN necessary, use a vegetable purgative. As a laxative use Senna, the Syrup of same, or Figs, or the alternating of same.
-
(Q) Should there be any change in the diet? (A) Such changes come only as developments are indicated, not in the present. Keep rather to those things that have been indicated. Keep a body-balance, but eighty percent alkaline reaction to the twenty percent of those foods that are acid reacting.
-
(Q) What causes these convulsive seizures? (A) As has been indicated, contractions in the glandular forces, through the periods of poor assimilation that come as a strain to changing conditions in the sexual activities in the body, as well as the lesions that exist by the pressures in the caecum, the lacteal ducts and those about the adrenals.
-
(Q) Can parents hope to ever see this body normal mentally? (A) This depends upon the application of those suggestions as has been given.
-
(Q) Any further advice at this time? (A) We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/10/36 Father’s letter: “Stopped down to see [758] last Sunday and he looked fine although I thought he was getting a little homesick, a sign I have not seen from him in many years.”
R2. 4/5/37 Mr. [165]‘s letter: “Other things within your kin are interesting me. One is Mrs. [1192]‘s son, [758]. Somewhere in the readings metals and music have been mentioned. Mrs. [1192] is trying to find the readings for me. Since meeting the boy at the Cayce Hospital I have wanted to work with him.
His parents see him once a month at an institution in N.J. He is evidently getting no individual help. There are other children there who should have readings and help of the same sort. Mrs. […]‘s son, [1163], is there.”

I list them below and make notations as to suggestions contained in each that will bear definite study in light of the recent statements from Mr. Cayce to the effect that the needed information is there. He has said ‘With the cooperation of someone who would apply the suggestions he may become a real contribution to affairs during his life.’ That was written on April 9th just past.

“I do not pretend to be adept in the interpretation of these readings. They bring me to certain conclusions, however, and I promised to let you know my findings - so here they are.
“We all agree that our minds have a great influence over our bodies. You and I can get, for instance, various glandular reactions by varying our thoughts. That handsome boy of yours can’t do those things for himself. The readings describe in a magnificent way first the means for putting the boy into condition to be helped - point after point is made, thing after thing to be done that he may be in condition to be helped. Second, the mental help at the start must be from the outside. Gradually he can take on the burden of that himself. Prayer. Auto-suggestion. Individual help. Love. Harmony. The led - not the driven.
“May I suggest that at this time a new reading be had, including, in addition to such questions as you may have in mind, a few such as the following:
We desire to do all in our power to get the body into condition to be helped and request detailed guidance as to the steps necessary if there are any beyond those given.
We desire to learn how to give him that individual help in suggestion and prayer and harmony that will bring him to a power of self-help.
In a constructive program of this sort what place or places and person or persons should enter the picture, during the next six months?”
Is there someone who can train his father and mother and others who may contact him so that all may react solely for his advancement.
“I shall be glad to discuss above with you at any time. There are now, as you know, new types of X-rays that have originated since the last reading that might be employed. A question regarding same might be of help. I have made the acquaintance of a Dr. Thierer here and have been telling him of your son and of Mr. Cayce as well and he has some concrete ideas that might be stimulating. I could arrange an interview I think, although the doctor is not in definite practice at this time. This is merely a suggestion. Might ask regarding Dr. Thierer in reading. [A. C. Thierer, N.D.?]
“Am returning readings herewith. Please pardon that I have marked them up a little with pencil…”
R7. 5/29/37 See 165-22, 16-A advising how Mr. [165] can help [758], by selling himself to [758]‘s parents and by approaching it from [758]‘s angle and not from [165]‘s angle.
R8. Subsequently [758]‘s parents, [417] and [1192], sought advice for themselves, their marriage, etc.
R9. 7/60 In Dr. W. N. Pahnke’s survey of 96 cases of epilepsy from the Edgar Cayce records, he classified [758] in group 3, saying: “From the description in the correspondence, readings and hospital record, diagnosis of mental retardation is the most probable. There were no convulsions reported during the entire hospital stay.”
R10. 1/17/62 HLC’s letter to Mr. [417] and Mrs. [1192] who attended one of his lectures in Florida: “[417], don’t forget to write that report on [758]‘s X-rays for us. I am sure Gladys doesn’t have it in the files.”
