EC: Yes - conditions show improvement so far as the temperature is concerned, and especially as to those things that have CAUSED the disturbance.

Localization of the inflammatory forces through those areas of the arm, or the lymph and emunctory circulation where an accumulation or plethora has been caused, may need the application of the knife.

Ice or the like used on same following such application would be well for the body, in a general way; or an ice cap or pack.

And as we find, those things that will act as a cleanser for the system would be well; as the combination preferably of Sulphur, Cream of Tartar and Epsom Salts - equal parts. The dose would be about a teaspoonful of the combination each day (that is, a teaspoonful of the whole mixture, you see - an equal combination of the three). This given each day for three days should be sufficient.

(Q) Should he be given sulphamilhide [sulfanilamide?] for strep germ? (A) As indicated, the equal combination of the Sulphur, Salts and Cream of Tartar would be preferable.

(Q) What should we be careful of after today? (A) Too strenuous activity of the body to make for a dislocation of the centers in the coccyx and spinal area.

(Q) Any other osteopathic treatments needed? (A) At least one or possibly two more should be given.

R1. 8/3/38 EC’s letter to Mr. [257]: “Hope [759] is coming along alright - too bad they had to open the place - but when they are working against one another it usually happens.”
R2. 8/3/38 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “The reading came today. You gave it Monday at 4:55 our time. I had 2 doctors and they both said it was ripe. At 6:15 the doctor ‘froze’ it and used the knife in a one inch gag. A quart of pus, it seemed to me, shot out like a bursted water main. His fever dropped from 104 and 3/4 to 101 degrees in 40 minutes. Tonight, Wednesday, it is 4/5 degree below normal. For 3 days he has taken 0.5 gms. every 4 hours of sulfanilamide which is supposed to prevent strep. I’ll see if it is okay tomorrow to give the sulphur. It is a nasty wound and he has suffered terribly. He had marvelous relief for 4-5 hours from Dr. Schoelles. That was the only rest from pain he could get. The osteopath certainly helped him. Dr. Schoelles is away for two weeks now. On his return we will give [759] two more, and keep him off his feet for next 6-7 days.”

R3. 8/16/38 “Just reporting briefly to you that [759] is pretty well healed on his first boil and has an additional boil starting on the same one. I am giving him sulphur, salts and cream of tartar as you suggested. We could not give it to him sooner as they were giving him sulfanilamide already.”
R4. 8/20/38 EC’s letter: “[257], in reading 487-23 on 8/12/38, for an infected boil on his back, the same dose was recommended as for [759], with the suggestion to apply Prescription D.D.D. Salve to the place. It has done wonders for [487]. Suppose you try that for [759] - am sure it will dissipate it, and then the other will eliminate it.”
