GC: You will answer the questions regarding this body, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What caused the infection, or the glandular condition from which he has been suffering? (A) What is it he desires? To get rid of it or to have the history to explain to the body itself!
The infection exists. It came from those conditions existing in the body, and the disturbance with the glandular system.
Relieve same by the relaxing or setting up of drainages osteopathically, and by applying alkaline packs about the body - as of Glyco-Thymoline or Lavoris; these about the throat and head, and in packs along the spine.
Then DRAIN the system, as with the minerals that set up the LYMPH circulation - unless there is the desire that this be brought to a head, and then operate on it, that’ll leave him a scar that wouldn’t be very pleasant!
It may take a little bit longer, but if these drainages are set up - and they can be, through the alimentary canal, through the perspiration, through the respiration it will distribute the poisons and eliminate them through their regular channels, and the after effects to the body will be less harmful.
-
(Q) Any danger to the ears at present? (A) Not if the drainages are set up and kept up, for he will throw off the condition in the speech, or cough, or spittle, and more - of course - through the alimentary canal.
-
(Q) Is there a stone in the region affected? (A) We do not find it so.
Do those things as indicated for the better conditions.
To keep down the temperature, after the drainages are set up, bathe the feet and along the spine with tepid water, followed with a rub - or, better still, bathe with pure grain alcohol. This will keep down the temperature.
Take only liquids and semi-liquid foods.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/28/43 Mrs. [189] [Mr. [257]‘s secretary’s] letter: “[759] is some better today. They have removed the drains today but he is still at the hospital. How long they expect to keep him there I do not know, but believe they will let him out in a day or two to wait until the scar heals where they had to cut the abscess.
“The x-ray pictures definitely show a stone in the sub-maxillary gland which the doctors think will have to be removed. The reading does not agree with this and Mr. [257] thought perhaps you might check it again and see which is right.”
R2. 8/9/43 Mr. [257] phoned questions:
- What is the general condition today?
- X-ray shows stone. Does it have to be operated upon, or can it be dissolved - and if so, how?
- What causes continued drainage over such long period?
- What will correct condition, so that it will close up?
- Is there anything wrong in any part of his body?
- What should be done to build him up?
- What exercises should be taken during this period?
- What is proper diet for him?
R3. 8/9/43 P.M. See 759-22.
Background
Background
B1. See 759-20 on 11/20/42.
B2. 7/20/43 Phone request by Father, [257] to GD: “[759] and [773] came home Saturday from camp, and [759]‘s glands are all swollen and he has a fever of 102 degrees and 103 degrees. [773] got sick while at camp, his stomach upset, but he seems alright now. The doctor tells us there was a case of infantile paralysis at camp, so naturally we’re worried, though he says [759] doesn’t have any symptoms. But we want to make sure. If the glands are out of kilter, there’s bound to be danger. The doctor doesn’t know what is causing it, nor what to do. Tell Judge to please try to get it in today, and to phone me back.”
Questions:
- What is wrong with the glands, or what causes the swelling under the chin and on right side of face?
- Are there any stones in the glands?
- Why does the fever persist?
- What can be done to relieve pain and to help general condition?
- Would osteopathy help; if so, how should it be used and where?
- Is there any sign of infantile paralysis in this body?
- Could an oral surgeon eliminate this condition so it will not happen again?
- What should his diet be?
- Should hot or cold packs be used; and where?
B3. 7/21/43 EC’s wire: “Advise address and question changes for reading tomorrow morning 10:30.”
B4. 7/22/43 Phone verification and questions by father: “Had fever of 104 degrees, came down to 103 degrees. This morning had the sulfa drug and it broke a little bit. Terrific pain. Face just like a drum. One doctor said it is a gland condition, another said it might be his teeth - we’ve had a dentist here - four doctors in all here yesterday.”
Questions submitted, besides those which got asked:
- Is there an abscess forming? If so, where will it open, front or back of mouth, or where?
- Will the condition drain naturally, or will it have to be aided mechanically for the elimination of all pus?
- What should be done to prevent recurrence of this annual gland condition?
- Which is better, hot or cold treatment, and how should it best be used?
- What will rebuild body quickly and most satisfactorily to overcome effects of the sulfa drug for the infection itself? How long should this be continued?
- Is the body growing normally? What should be done to keep the body developing?
- Would recuperation be better in Oklahoma or Colorado, with his grandparents in August?
- Any other advice for the body mentally and spiritually?
