This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of June, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self, through his sister - Mrs. [678], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Asheville, N.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [843].

2. Now as we find, there is a great deal to be desired. When there are not the precautions, nor those applications, or when there is undue activity owing to anxieties mentally and physically produced about the body, then we find that recurrent conditions cause irritations that become very detrimental to the better physical forces of the body.

3. As related to those disturbances in the stone, that is attempting to be eliminated through the channels of the ureter and the urethra:

4. We find this is not so large as first we saw same, yet too large - of course - to pass, or to pass either to the bladder or through the penis or urethra itself.

5. But with the use of the probes these areas have been irritated, as before.

6. Now as we find in the present:

7. We would keep quiet, off of the feet as much as possible; and use the Turpentine Stupes - as has been indicated.

8. Or, there may be alternated with same, to relax the body more, the Mullein Stupes. Crush the leaves and apply between gauze, you see, over the area. We will find healing from these, as well as the inclination for the dissolving or breaking up of the stone by the absorption.

9. Also we find that a tea made from the Mullein flower would be well. The proportions would be about a level teaspoonful to a pint of water, and let this steep as tea. Taking about an ounce of this twice a day will aid in keeping down this tendency for dizziness, and aid in the activity of the kidneys to expel - and the channels through the system for expelling stone.

10. From the kidney area down to across the sacral, we would rub the back with an equal combination of Olive Oil, Tincture of Myrrh and Compound Tincture of Benzoin. Heat the Olive Oil to add the Myrrh and Benzoin. This would not be put on as a pad, or soaking cloths (as the Turpentine would, or as the Mullein Stupes), but would be massaged into these areas; to keep the body from tiring so, as well as to thoroughly relax the body.

11. Do these.

12. As for the diet, keep those things that are easily assimilated and that do not work a hardship upon the kidneys or their activity; and all of those that will aid in eliminations - these would be the character of the diet in the present.

13. Ready for questions.

14. (Q) Please give present location of stone in my right ureter? (A) As indicated, it is nearer to the entrance - but has not moved a great deal. Though the probing caused inflammation, this is quieting down. And with the applications suggested it should be still bettered.

If the temperature arises, operative forces to remove same - other than probing - may become necessary, see?

15. (Q) Please give cause of pains in region of stomach, liver, gall bladder and intestinal tract; and treatment. (A) As indicated, these arise as a regular reflex - or from too much ACTIVITY of the body. The body, as indicated, should keep more quiet, see? until these act better.

16. (Q) What would help the dizzy blank feeling in my head? (A) As indicated, the rubs - as well as the tea itself.

17. (Q) What treatment for sweats and weakness? (A) The rubs and those things indicated. The sweats arise from ANXIETY more than anything else, see?

18. (Q) What can be done to make me rest and sleep better at night? (A) As we find, if it is necessary a hypnotic will be very well; though the Radio-Active Appliance - as we find - would work well in these conditions.

19. (Q) Is there any drug, food, water or anything that would help dissolve the stone so it will pass? (A) Those applications internally and externally, as we find, as indicated, will work better with these in the present.

Do that; watching, of course, for temperature and irritation. Remember, it’s anxiety that works up a sweat, as it were! But do as indicated and we will find the better influences, as WE find, for this body.

R1. 6/15/38 (Wednesday) Sister [678]‘s letter to EC:

… Ave. N.W. Washington, D.C.

My dear Mr. Cayce,

Thank you for your nice letter of June 13th regarding my brother. Also wish to thank you for the Reading which you gave him Saturday. I received MY COPY Sunday 7:00 A.M. and [843] got his Sunday 4:00 P.M. I think the suggestions are very helpful for my brother. I was waiting to hear from him before writing to you, so I could tell you what he thought. I had a letter from him today which seemed more hopeful than any I’ve had from him. He IS BETTER in some way.

He said “The Reading is very good indeed and I shall follow the instructions to the letter. Dr. Grantham saw the Reading Monday and he too liked it.” [843] also said that he was getting more cooperation at home.

Dr. Grantham took another x-ray which showed the stone had moved another inch nearer the bladder, and one small piece of the stone had broken off and could be seen in the lower part of the bladder. [843] said he would continue the Turp. Stupes and would alternate with the Mullein Stupes as Reading suggested. I got everything here and sent him that the Reading said, except the Mullein leaves, which I know he can get there [S. B. Penick & Co.]. I haven’t done anything about the Radio active Battery.

The Dr. said he might use the Cystoscope again the latter part of this week if no further improvement is shown, but if the stone is moving or breaking up he will not interfere. [843] now feels more encouraged since the stone seems to be breaking up and he is not having the terrible sweats - and he seems stronger. He believes now he will soon be on the mend. Of course if the stone refuses to pass and temp. rises he will have to have an operation, “other than probing” as the Reading very plainly said. But I’m hoping for the best. I want you to know you have helped both Mother and me as much as [843]. We wrote him once or twice a day and often wired him daily. Mother joins me in love and best wishes to you and yours.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

I often think of you and the great work which you are doing. I can well imagine that you are kept very busy.

I appreciated the readings which you gave me in May. They were very accurate from a diagnostic standpoint, and I believe the treatment which you suggested would have been just 100% effective if I had properly used it, but unfortunately, the long use of the turpentine stupes produced such severe abdominal pains - particularly in my right side - that I had to discontinue using them before the stone was dissolved. The Mullein tea also seemed to upset my stomach and also burned my urethra - both of which were pretty raw the latter part of May and all through June.

Although I still have the stone I am feeling better in many particulars, although my nerves are pretty well “shot”. I seem to be suffering from a fatigue neurosis, in addition to a lot of gastro-intestinal trouble. A feeling of weakness and slightly nauseated at times gives me the most trouble. Of course both ends of my stomach seem raw at times, particularly the cardiac end.

I sent a number of questions to my sister, Mrs. [678] on Tuesday, and asked her to arrange them so you could give me the most effective reading. I imagine you will receive her letter with the questions about tomorrow or next day, and I hope you will answer all of them - in addition to the following:

Will a substance known as “Mineral Food” and sold by W. L. Jameson, 317 Flat Iron Building, Denver, Colorado be of value for my condition?

I heard about the Mineral Food yesterday, and it is supposed to be good for everything - by restoring the body chemistry to normalcy. Would like to have your opinion about it.

I trust you have had a pleasant, as well as a profitable summer thus far. I hope it will not be long before I can invite you to spend awhile with me in the mountains where it is cool, particularly at night.

R3. 8/12/38 Sister [678]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

My brother [843] would like very much to get another Reading. There are quite a few things he wants to know at the present time. I’m enclosing his questions in this letter.

Two Drs. have told him that stone in right ureter MAY BE in a “pocket” and to leave if alone for the present, but stay near a Surgeon in case an operation is necessary. Dr. Love told him he was also suffering from Aluminum with Arsenate of lead poisoning and that the Aluminum caused some part of the kidney stone. He is now trying to use an Electronic Bio-Normalizer from Dr. Love and he is very anxious for you to tell him if Dr. Love’s Machine will be helpful or harmful to him.

If Mrs. Cayce will be good enough to study the questions a little before hand I will greatly appreciate it, so if you should answer some of them BEFORE these are asked, then he would stand a better chance of getting the others answered. I wish so much [843] could go to you to get the Reading. I want him to come to Washington just as soon as he is able. He seems to be getting weaker and more nervous all the time.

He has lots of faith in your help, and if he could get the cooperation necessary everything would be better. [843] would like the Reading at your earliest convenience. Monday or Tuesday if possible, sooner if you have time. Just WIRE HIM also ME the TIME you will give it so we can be quiet and prayful. We do want to co-operate all we can. Am adding two dollars for the telegrams to the ten on the Reading.

[843] wants you to MAIL the Reading to me “special delivery” and I will give him all the help I can when I send it on to him.

Have you ever heard of this Dr. Love [S. R. Love, D.O.] St. Petersburg, Fla? There is a woman patient in a hospital in Asheville (Mrs. Hacker) who is using one of his machines and her husband thinks it helped her a lot. I think Dr. Love built his machine from Psychic information. He is able to diagnose a case from handwriting I think. I never heard of him before. [8/15/38 See 843-7.]

I have ordered the 1938 Congress Booklet, am looking forward

to reading it. Do hope you are well. Mother and I speak of you very often. Everyday from 3:30 to 3:40 P.M. I will try to help.
